Manaless Mage-Chapter 200: Light: The most versatile element
Chapter 200: Light: The most versatile element
Yasmine’s gritted her teeth in horror, seeing the light box rapidly closing in on her.
After seeing how much trouble that other light box gave her by almost drowning her in a shower of arrows, there was no way she would let another one of those things get close to her!
She didn’t know what ’gift’ this box contained, but she would make sure she deflected it no matter what.
She swiftly canceled the [Shield of flames] spell, causing the large fire shield above her to rapidly disintegrate into tiny red particles.
Stretching her hands towards the light box that was rapidly closing in on her, she hurriedly channeled her elemental mana before casting another spell.
"Fire Arrow!" She thought, conjuring a thin fire arrow before launching towards the light box.
However, just as the fire arrow was about to close in on the box, it suddenly went off in a bright white flash.
"Arrgh!" Yasmine grunted in pain, her hands instinctively moving to her eyes as the sudden flash of light temporarily blinded them.
Boom!
The fire arrow simply went through the flash, before detonating into a small explosion.
Susan, seeing Yasmine temporarily lose her sight, couldn’t help the slight smirk that appeared on her face.
Waving her hand forward again, the last light box swiftly shot towards Yasmine’s torso, leaving a small trail of sparkling white dust.
Within seconds after being momentarily blinded by Susan’s attack, the fire Elementalist’s sight suddenly returned back to her.
However, the first thing that appeared in her sight was the image of a rapidly swelling light box, and her eyes widened in surprise.
’Damn it!’ She cursed inwardly, gritting her teeth tightly as she tried moving away from the box.
But unfortunately, she reacted a little too late.
In a split second, the light box bursted open, and a short, thin spike rapidly shot out of it before piercing Yasmine at her side.
"Arrgh!" Yasmine grunted in pain as blood spurted out from the side of her torso.
She clutched the wound tightly, briefly feeling the other end of the spike before it disintegrated into tiny white particles.
Though she was fortunate enough that it didn’t stab her directly through her belly, but instead at the side, the wound still stung her with immense pain.
As she struggled with the pain, Susan simply stood by, staring at her with a blank expression on her face.
Although her look was indifferent, Yasmine still felt mocked by it. She felt that Susan didn’t even consider this a battle worthy enough to make her use her full strength, and the thought angered her.
’Still looking down on me huh... let’s see if you can keep that on for long...’ Yasmine thought, with her eyes burning with determination.
"Burning hands..." She mumbled, and instantly her hands slowly lit up with bright red flames.
Her expression squeezed into a deep frown, as she gently moved her ’burning hands’ towards the wound at her side.
Her palm came in contact with the wound, and her brows immediately furrowed in pain.
Szzz!
The heat from the flames rapidly melted the surface of the wound, making a low sizzling sound before the bleeding finally stopped.
Since she was a fire Elementalist, she didn’t have any healing spells that she could use to heal her wounds in a case of emergency, so what she usually did was stop the bleeding by simply cauterising the wound.
Although this wasn’t the first time she was doing this, the huge pain she felt was something she always hated.
However, after doing this a lot of times, she was already getting used to it. She had also become better at cauterising her injuries, knowing the right amount of fire to use without burning her skin too much.
She bit her lips tightly, holding back the pain before finally standing back up on her feet.
The main reason she could boldly take risks like this was because she knew the academy could always heal her injuries if it ever got too serious.
Meaning, if there was a chance she did the cauterisation poorly and ended up scarring her skin, the academy instructors could simply heal it for her using their powerful healing spells.
Her eyes turned back to Susan, who simply stood at a safe distance with a blank expression.
Seeing this caused her eyes to narrow in anger, and she tightly clenched her fists. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
Suddenly, she raised her hands upwards, swiftly channeling her mana to cast another spell.
"Flame Drills!!" She shouted, and almost immediately, five drills made purely of fire appeared above her, before shooting towards Susan at insane speed.
Boom!
The drills blasted forwards, closing in on Susan at rapid speed.
However, despite the incoming attacks, the light Elementalist still didn’t move an inch.
This made Yasmine feel that something was off. After all, not even Susan could easily fend off that many stage three attack spells.
Just as the drills were about to make contact with Susan, her figure suddenly wavered, before disintegrating into tiny white particles.
Boom!!!
Boom!!!
Boom!!!
The drills swiftly went off in a powerful explosion, however, at the end of the day, the attack didn’t hit anyone, rendering them useless.
’An illusion!’ Yasmine thought, as her eyes widened in shock. She hurriedly looked around, in a bid to find her opponent, but Susan was no where to be found.
’So where’s the real—’ She soon got her answer, as Susan suddenly charged at her from the side, with her sword held tightly in her hands.
’Found you.’ Yasmine thought, her lips curling into a slight smile. She swiftly stretched her hand towards her, before hurriedly activating another spell.
"Fire Blast!!" She shouted, and almost immediately, a large circle of flames appeared in front of her before blasting towards Susan.
However, the moment the flames made contact with Susan, they simply phased through her, causing Yasmine’s eyes to widen in shock.
’Another illusion!!’ She thought, feeling a little frustrated. She had infused a substantial amount of elemental power into that attack, but just like the last time, everything was just wasted!
’Susan’s’ body rapidly disintegrated into tiny white dots, but unlike the last time, instead of the particles to simply vanish in the air, they swiftly shot towards Yasmine.
Her eyes widened in shock, and she hurriedly tried to move away from the incoming dusts.
Although they looked harmless, she knew that probably wasn’t the case, especially with their weird behaviour.
However, she was too late once more, and the white dusts made contact with her skin, before sinking into her body.
"Agh!" Yasmine grunted, hurriedly harnessing her elemental mana in a bid to push the weird light particles out of her body.
But unfortunately, her body suddenly went weak, and she could feel her strength rapidly waning.
’What... is this... a de-buff spell? Curse you... Susan.’ She mumbled inwardly, her thoughts slurring as she collapsed unto the ground.
The last time she remembered, Susan wasn’t able to use illusion and de-buff magic this efficiently. Sure, she was quite good at them, but not to this extent.
Yasmine groaned, deeply disappointed by her performance. Though she used most of her powerful spells, Susan still brushed them off easily.
Although the instructors didn’t mention this, losing in the first rounds of duels, meant the student would only gain a rank between the bottom ten ranks.
Their performance and how fast they were eliminated was what determined their exact position between the rankings.
For Yasmine, falling from such the top ten ranks to one as low as that, was nothing short of failure.
’I thought I had gotten stronger... closer to her level, but... it seems we are still miles apart...’ Yasmine thought, with a wry smile, as she finally lost consciousness.
Just before she lost consciousness, her gaze met with that of Susan, who simply stood by the side, staring at her with an indifferent expression.
[And after a powerful display of spells from both sides, we have our winner! The current rank one student! Susan Grey!]
The commentator shouted, announcing the winner of the duel.
The audience started shouting following his announcement, cheering the two participants.
Even though Yasmine lost, none of them really blamed her. After all, she was unlucky to be put against someone like Susan, and in the first fight at that.
Meanwhile, Harry’s lips curled into a slight smile as he watched Susan walk down the stage.
’I guess light really is the most versatile element for a reason. I honestly can’t wait until I get my hands on it.’ He thought, with a slight smirk on his face.
The element practically had it all. Great attack power, good defence, buffs and de-buffs, illusions, and even healing!
He really looked forward to the day he finally comprehends the element, and he was sure it wouldn’t be too long from now.
