Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Self-defense gone wrong
Three men lunged forward from the group, each of them was radiating cruel excitement in their steps.
Their eyes glinted with the thrill of violence, expecting a quick and easy beatdown.
"Jessica stay behind me," as he pulled Jessica behind him.
And the moment they entered Jeff’s striking range something changed. In the first place after this, Jeff had no idea on what he was going to do.
When all of a sudden, his body moved on its own.
Like a whisper of instinct buried deep in his bones, something from last night it was the brutal training that is awakening.
Not a technique, not a style, but the raw battle memory that is etched through pain.
The first man swung a powerful fist downward, aiming at Jeff’s head.
But he just ducked smoothly, his motion was accurate and precise that he had seen it coming minutes ago.
His body bent low, and a memory replayed in his mind. It is some kind of a movement when Jakol’s crushing elbow came from above.
He didn’t think, he just reacted as he applied that kind of moved that he practice with instructor Jakol plenty of times in the white room.
Jeff stepped in close, twisting his body, and slammed his shoulder into the man’s chest, knocking him off balance.
Then came a brutal upward strike. There was nothing elegant or trained about it.
It wasn’t some refined martial arts move, rather just pure momentum driving his rising elbow straight into the target.
The crack of cartilage was loud, the first attacker reeled backward, clutching his nose, his very eyes were wide in disbelief.
The man who took the elbow rolled across the ground, groaning in pain. The strike had been so forceful, it was hard to believe it came from a sixteen-year-old.
But there was no time to pause. The second man was already charging in, throwing a sharp punch aimed at Jeff’s ribs.
It was very fast and direct. But Jeff’s eyes had changed, after hours of getting beaten, and surviving rough rounds and unpredictable situations from Jakol, had greatly trained him.
He could now see the tiny movements that gave everything away.
The slight shift in the foot, the rotation of the shoulder. He already knew what was coming next.
He twisted his body to the side, letting the punch graze past him. At the same time, his left hand snapped up, grabbing the man’s wrist with a firm grip.
Then his right hand came crashing down like a hammer, smashing directly into the man’s elbow joint. Because of that a sharp crack followed.
Crack!
The man screamed in agony, since his arm was bending the wrong way, completely dislocated if you look at it.
But Jeff didn’t stop, he stepped in and grabbed the man’s shirt tightly and drove his forehead forward in a brutal headbutt.
The impact echoed with a dull thud, a sound that cut through the tense air like a crack of thunder.
Then came the sound of something breaking, the breaking is not from Jeff skull. Rather it was the man’s nose.
Blood burst from it as the man staggered, both its were eyes rolling back, before collapsing to the ground like a puppet with its strings severed.
Jeff stood there for a moment, breathing hard. His heart was pounding, louder than ever.
He was not tired or exhausted it’s just that, this was the first time he had done something like this.
Something real and violent. But there was no room for hesitation anymore.
He had always lived a quiet life, one far removed from violence or fighting. Nothing in his past had prepared him for something this brutal.
And now, seeing the blood on his hands and the unconscious body of the man lying motionless at his feet, a strange feeling crept in and that is a flicker of pity.
But he shook it off, "Not now. Don’t feel that kind of emotion for people like this," Jeff muttered through gritted teeth.
His chest was rising and falling with every breath, but his mind remained crystal clear.
As he was in deep thought one of the rushing men shouted.
"Brothers, be careful! This kid can actually fight. He’s no ordinary punk and very skilled. Hurry up and take out your weapons!"
At those words, the mood shifted again. The remaining men reached for their pockets, their expressions turning serious.
The one who shouted was the third man who came in fast while wielding a knife. Seeing this Jessica covered her mouth as her eyes trembled.
"Je-Jeff, be... be careful. He... he has a weapon..." Jessica cried out from behind, her voice shaking with fear.
Even with loud cry he didn’t flinch since something inside of him snapped and everything began to shift.
The kinetic energy within his body surged all at once, like a current snapping to life. It flowed through every muscle, every nerve, enhancing everything it contacted with.
He felt his speed sharpened, and his reaction time narrowed to a razor’s edge. Enormous strength filled his limbs as agility surged into his joints.
Everything was heightened. This is vecause inside of him without him knowing his body, a rapid chain of biological enhancements unfolded the moment his survival instincts were triggered.
His amygdala, which is the brain’s internal threat detection system, sent an immediate signal to the motor cortex, skipping all hesitation.
The Kinetic Veins absorbed that command and redirected the energy through his nervous system, causing synapse activity to accelerate.
As a result of that, his reaction time tripled, and his brain began processing movement, spatial awareness, and visual cues at speeds far beyond human limits.
Alongside this, the Kinetic Veins activated his Type II fast-twitch muscle fibers, converting stored kinetic energy into raw power.
Within microseconds, his muscles were primed like compressed springs, enabling his body to produce powerful bursts of speed and strength without delay.
This transformation will cause him to move faster, strike harder, and maintain his momentum with mechanical precision.
Simultaneously, his vestibular system, which governs balance and coordination, synced with the internal flow of kinetic energy.
This synchronization stabilized his movement, allowing him later to shift directions, anticipate counterforce, and maintain flawless footing in high-speed combat.
There was no sway, no stumble and it will only be clean and calculated motion. At the same time, energy surged into his hypothalamus, triggering a controlled adrenal override.
Pain receptors were subdued, while adrenaline and endorphins flooded his bloodstream, dulling discomfort and boosting mental clarity to a razor’s edge.
In that moment, Jeff was no longer fighting with basic human instinct.
He had become a fully awakened Omega Agent, perfectly designed for efficiency, survival, and precision in battle.
In that moment, time seemed to slow down at a very fast pace.
He’s foot shifted ever so slightly. It was the same stance he had once mimicked when facing Jakol’s in the white room.
Left foot forward, weight perfectly centered, body relaxed but coiled like a spring. His eyes locked onto the incoming attack with calm precision, no trace of fear or hesitation.
Not only that something changed around him, that change is his aura shifted. It no longer felt like a boy caught in danger.
It felt like a seasoned hunter stepping into a forest, not to escape the wolves, but to hunt them.
And now, the wolves, who once thought they were the predators. Were going to realize sooner or later that they had become the prey
As the blade slashed horizontally toward him, Jeff leaned back just inches away from the steel edge.
To him, it felt like the blade was moving in slow motion, his enhanced speed making everything around him drag.
He felt the breeze of cold metal skim past his face. It reminded him exactly of dodging that high hook from Jakol.
Jeff then stopped and with an explosive speed, his body snapping back into position just as the attacker tried to recover.
The man was stunned for a moment, clearly not expecting something that fast. He tried to reverse the grip and swing again, but it was too late.
The man barely had time to process what happened and before he could pull the blade back, since Jeff’s hand shot out and grabbed his wrist tightly.
With a violent twist, he redirected the man’s momentum. The attacker’s grip faltered, and the knife dropped to the ground with a metallic clink, making it useless now.
Before the man could even realize what had happened, Jeff’s right fist came crashing down like a hammer, it was fast and heavy, carrying the raw force of a seasoned blacksmith at his forge.
The blow was very vicious to watch.
Jessica who was watching from behind, swallowed a mouthful of saliva.
Without pause, Jeff reached down and grabbed the fallen knife in one clean motion. His hand moved with instinct, he just felt like if he did this it would make the battle easier.
As he rose from that, another man was already rushing toward him, with the blade in hand.
Since Jeff was already spinning, his body turning with momentum, ready to face the next threat head-on.
Using the dead momentum of his turn, it was guided by only pure instinct as he slashed across the man’s throat in a wide arc.

His body staggered, as he fell to its knees he then crumpled as it falls to the ground. It was convulsing and shaking after some time gradually it stopped.
The area then fall silent, it was only the sound of blood dripping. Inside of him, something unfamiliar came in, it was a calm awareness.
But inside of that expression was something veiled, he looked at his own hands it was trembling and was blood-soaked.
"...I just... killed him," he muttered, almost in disbelief.
