Chapter 671: Family Gathering

"Yeah, Irene? Is there something you want?" asked Arielle.

"Can I be with you tonight?" the child replied.

"But I’m going to the dragon eggs’ room first, is that alright?"

Irene nodded. "Can I wait in your personal library?"

"Of course you can. Maybe your brother’s meeting will be over soon. I will tell him."

"Thank you very much, Arielle," said Irene, who got up again and was escorted by Arielle to her private library.

After dropping Irene off at her library and having dinner together with the child, Arielle went to do the task she had to do every day. She might not stay there longer because Irene was waiting for her.

However, every time Arielle stayed in the special room made for the dragon eggs, she always forgot the time. There were no clock or pocket watches to tell the time. She just followed her instincts and came out after three hours had passed.

Arielle hoped Irene was still in the library waiting for her. It seemed that the child had a lot to tell, but it was already late. Usually, at this time, she had forced Irene to sleep. Before coming to the library, Arielle took the time to clean her body first because she was full of sweat after coming out of the special room earlier.

After that, Arielle drew closer to her private library and heard a strange commotion. She opened the door and saw that many people were already gathered there. Lazarus was lying while laughing out loud on Aimee’s lap, and William burst out laughing while holding Kael with the alcohol in his hand.

Meanwhile, Irene and Ronan were sitting on the couch looking at the people below them with two different looks on their faces. Irene with a confused expression while Ronan with an irritated expression.

Arielle could also see Priest Elis who was sitting awkwardly beside William.

"Oh, Queen Arielle has arrived!" Lazarus exclaimed loudly. He immediately got up from Aimee’s lap and walked quickly towards Arielle who was frozen in front of the door. The man dragged her to join them.

"Your Highness, I have a question. If Aimee and I get married, roughly how many children can I have?" asked Lazarus so suddenly that it confused Arielle.

"Two?" she answered honestly.

Ronan told Arielle to sit beside Irene so as not to join the people below. However, when Arielle got up, Lazarus and William pulled her hand to sit between them. They were already drunk. Arielle could tell because the smell of alcohol wafted so strongly from both of them.

Irene shouldn’t be here.

"Wrong. The answer is... eleven!" Lazarus shouted, making Aimee let out a long sigh.

"Like I’m going to just let it happen. It’s better for me not to get married at all," muttered Aimee, which was not heard by Lazarus who was so busy laughing with William.

"So... why is everyone gathered here? And Priest Elis? Are you ok with this?" Arielle asked with a slight frown on her forehead. She felt very strange at seeing Priest Elis, a man who was so straight as to carry out religious values now sitting awkwardly with William and Lazarus.

"Oh, that... I dragged him here. I felt so sorry when I saw Priest Elis alone contemplating in the cathedral so I brought him here... so he wouldn’t be sad."

"Are you sad about something?" Arielle asked Priest Elis.

Priest Elis shook his head. "Absolutely not, Your Highness. This is a misunderstanding. I was just performing a ritual, but Lord Lazarus didn’t seem to see clearly what I was doing."

"But, why are you alone at night? So I thought you were grieving about something? And the atmosphere is so cold that I had goosebumps."

"Surely, it was very cold because I was sharpening my power, Lord Lazarus."

Lazarus scrunched up his face and shook his head. "No. You stay here Priest Elis. At least learn to have fun once in a while. Is that right, William?"

William nodded and gave a thumbs up. He agreed with what Lazarus said.

Arielle still didn’t understand why they all had to gather in her library. She glanced at Irene who looked sleepy.

Ronan cleared his throat, making a commotion that Lazarus and William made became quiet for a moment. They turned to their king to wait for him to say something.

"Since Irene has passed her academy entrance test well today, I plan to take her on a vacation to see the sea in a few days. Right after the day of the announcement. I, Lazarus, Kael, and William have talked about this so I have made all the preparations. We only have to go. So don’t get sick until that day comes."

"I won’t! Admiral Lazarus won’t get sick until that day comes!" exclaimed Lazarus who then threw himself back into Aimee’s lap. Aimee had tried to push the man’s body away, but it was very difficult.

"Lazarus is really shameless," William said, pointing to Kael’s face, which looked annoyed because he was still not willing to see Lazarus stay close to his sister even though he had given his approval.

***

"Actually, why did all of you gather here?" Arielle asked William who was sitting beside her.

"Why? Of course, it’s celebrating Irene for passing into the academy!" The man replied cheerfully.

Arielle certainly did not understand why William spoke like that. Irene finally had time to test today and tomorrow was the interview for the parent and guardian. Ronan and Arielle had decided to send William to represent them, then a few days after was the announcement for the students who were accepted into the academy.

How would William know if Irene was accepted?

"But the result has not been announced yet. Also... I am not sure about the test this morning," said Irene.

Irene didn’t want to be full of herself. She was afraid that if she was not accepted, it would only disappoint Arielle and her brother even more.
