Living with the Dangerous Beast-Chapter 114: Send Me to My Puppy
Chapter 114: Send Me to My Puppy
“So, the one who’s been following me all this time turns out to be you, Lady Beomhee.”
The light, swift footsteps weren’t those of a grizzly bear, but a tiger.
Having lived alongside Dohwi, Sohwa recognized this immediately.
“Why have you been following me? Is my husband that tempting to you?”
“Oh....”
The small, limp body slumped into the dirt.
The sight of the tiny, helpless bundle stirred a deep ache in Beomhee’s chest.
“Baeksom, my dear Baeksom....”
Sohwa couldn’t even lift herself up, only managing to blink her jet-black eyes.
Her trembling figure was so pitiful it felt as if Beomhee’s heart was being torn apart.
“If you wish to take my Dohwi, you’ll have to... deal with me first....”
“Baeksom, what nonsense are you spouting?”
The mountain lord might have been handsome, but he had no manners, making him unsuitable as a husband.
Beomhee hadn’t liked Dohwi and his rotten nerves from the very first encounter.
From the start, she had no interest in marriage.
Why should she endure an unwanted union with someone who didn’t have any kind of appeal to her in the slightest?
If eternal life required warmth to fend off loneliness and a sanctuary to anchor her endless existence....
“Oh, my dear Baeksom....”
Beomhee found the sweet and gentle wife of the mountain lord far more appealing than the ill-mannered mountain lord himself.
“Why would I harm you over some worthless man? You’re my family.”
As Beomhee extended her hand, having transformed into human form, Sohwa let out a sharp growl.
“Kyarr!”
“Who’s family to whom? My family, in life and death, is only my Dohwi!”
“To me, you are my family, Baeksom. Let me hold you just once, please? Just once....”
“Touch me, and I’ll bite!”
The threat was far from intimidating.
But Beomhee hesitated, worried that touching the small fox might cause her fragile body to convulse.
Unable to act, Beomhee reluctantly withdrew her hand.
Having failed to embrace Sohwa, Beomhee sat cautiously beside her, lowering herself to eye level to persuade her.
“Baeksom, come with me. I’ll make sure not a single drop of water stains your beautiful fur.”
“I’m already living just fine as it is....”
“I’ll keep you safe for life. No one will ever harm you. You’ll stay on my lap, and I’ll never let you go.”
“Don’t lie. Sometimes you’ll have to let go—what, do you never go to the outhouse?”
“On those occasions, I can leave you in my room. It’s the safest place in the world.”
“So now you’re saying you’ll lock me up? Oh, woe is me....”
“Well, then I could tie you up in the front yard.”
“Some precious puppy I’d be then, huh?”
“That’s right, my lovely, precious puppy. Baeksom.”
Sohwa glared at her.
“What kind of dog in this world would want to live tied up? Especially when they have strong legs like these!”
She wasn’t sure why she was defending dogs’ rights at this moment, but one thing had to be said.
“No matter how beautiful they are, if you raise a puppy by locking it away, they’ll come to hate you for it.”
“T-that’s impossible. Baeksom always liked me....”
For the first time, Beomhee’s gaze wavered.
“That’s because you were Baeksom’s master. But I don’t need a master.”
“Baeksom, how could you say such a thing...!”
“Get a grip, Lady. Cute as I am, I’m not a puppy—I’m a fox!”
Just as Beomhee fell into complete confusion, Dohwi came flying out of nowhere and flung Beomhee over the cliff.
Sohwa immediately sprang to her feet.
“Dohwi! I stalled her for you!”
She had known he would come.
All Sohwa could do was use her charm to disarm Beomhee.
Sohwa quickly leaped into Dohwi’s arms.
“Are you hurt?”
“Hurt? Look at me—I’m perfectly fine.”
Having dealt with her husband’s nightly advances, Sohwa was a master of feigning weakness.
Playing the part of someone too exhausted to move was her specialty.
“Just exhale weakly and let your limbs tremble—people will think you’re on your deathbed.”
Pretending she couldn’t stand and limping for good measure were the finishing touches.
“When I did that, even she couldn’t take her eyes off me.”
“It was all an act?”
“Of course!”
Dohwi recalled the countless nights he had to let her be, unable to touch her, as she whimpered about being in pain.
There was much to discuss, but now wasn’t the time.
A ragged breath sounded from below.
Even after falling off a cliff, the white tiger was still alive.
Truly a resilient creature.
Having confirmed Sohwa’s safety, Dohwi looked down over the cliff.
Beomhee, her body battered, gazed skyward, tears streaming down her face.
She must have thought a dragon had descended, but only white fluffy clouds filled the sky.
“Mountain lord.”
“....”
“I can’t live any longer without seeing my puppy. If I die, I’ll finally be able to hold my puppy as much as I want in the afterlife.”
Beomhee sobbed uncontrollably.
“Please, send me to my Baeksom....”
