Living with the Dangerous Beast-Chapter 115: A Fox’s Gift
Chapter 115: A Fox’s Gift
Watching the scene, Sohwa found herself wiping away an unexpected tear.
“Oh dear, how pitiful....”
Before anyone could stop her, Sohwa scurried down to the cliff.
“Lady Beomhee.”
Beomhee froze, holding her breath as the longed face filled her vision.
Like three grapes atop a snowy rice cake.
It was the face she had missed so dearly.
The adorable fox who resembled Baeksom chattered away.
“Here, this is an elixir of immortality and precious wild ginseng. I saw them while looking for tails earlier and dug them up. They’re for you.”
“....”
“I was going to give them to Dohwi, but as you can see, he’s perfectly healthy.”
“....”
“These things are extremely rare, so brew them well and get well soon. When you feel better, come visit us.”
Instead of another goodbye, Sohwa lightly bumped her nose against Beomhee’s and then turned to leave.
After the mountain lord and his wife had disappeared, Beomhee sluggishly stood up.
In her left hand, she still held the herbs Sohwa had left behind.
The soft texture made her chest tighten, and for the first time, she no longer wanted to die.
Brushing away her tears, Beomhee rose with a newfound determination.
The mountain lord’s wife had given her a precious gift.
More than the rare herbs, it was the invitation to their home that truly touched Beomhee.
She wanted to see that adorable puppy-like fox again.
‘I’ll brew these herbs and recover as quickly as I can.’
She thought, spreading her large, paw-like hands.
“Pfft.”
A laugh escaped her lips.
“An elixir of immortality and a root of wild ginseng, you said...?”
It was just some ferns and a tree root.

The autumn air was crisp and clear, and the season of harvest had come.
“The season of abundance is upon us.”
With Dohwi busy as usual, Sohwa had gone out with Woongsik to gather dried jujubes.
“Ma’am, why are you picking so many jujubes? What are you going to do with all of them?”
“I’ll share them with the servants in the weaving house. They also love jujubes, don’t they?”
“They probably couldn’t refuse since it was you offering, ma’am.”
“They did say they’d eat them!”
“What kind of lynx eats jujubes, ma’am? I’ve never heard such nonsense in my life.”
“Hmm.”
Woongsik, carrying a sack full of red jujubes, grumbled.
He was annoyed at having spent the entire morning picking jujubes instead of having fun with his cute mistress.
What’s worse, they still had a long way to go before reaching home.
“My ears are feeling itchy. Someone must be talking about me.”
Sohwa, walking lazily, scratched her ears with her paw.
She then stopped abruptly and looked around.
“Woongsik, carry me.”
She was too lazy to walk anymore.
“I can’t, ma’am. If I carry you one more time, the master will punish me.”
“I’ll make sure you’re not caught. Just put me down before we reach the house.”
“Well....”
Woongsik hesitated.
Sohwa flopped down, curled her legs, and rolled around on the ground.
“Carry me. Hurry up.”
“....”
Her swishing tail and twitching paws were so adorable it made his heart ache.
Woongsik barely managed to restrain himself.
“Ma’am, do you know how much the master has been glaring at me lately?”
Woongsik had been scolded for putting Sohwa in danger.
The incident where she had snuck out to retrieve tails had caused a lot of trouble.
He shouldn’t have trusted Sohwa’s promise to behave.
“No excuses can justify what you did, ma’am.”
“I’m sorry about that, Woongsik. Don’t be mad. Look, I’ll meow for you. Meow... meow meow.”
“Good grief.”
Unable to resist any longer, Woongsik picked up the adorable silver fox.
“Comfortable, ma’am?”
“Feels like I’m lying on a fainting cushion.”
Sohwa rested her chin on his burly arm.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
The grizzly bear’s rhythmic footsteps were like a lullaby.
She was about to drift off when—
“Lady.”
A voice from around the corner startled her awake.
“Lady Beomhee!”
“Yes, it’s me.”
Sliding off Woongsik’s arm, Sohwa tilted her head as she looked at Beomhee.
“What are you doing standing outside my house?”
“The herbs you gave me worked wonders. Didn’t you say to make a visit to your house once I recovered?”
“I meant, why are you standing here like a stone statue instead of coming inside.”
“What could I possibly do if I ran into your husband? Have a staring contest?”
“Even so, waiting out here like this is....”
“I’m here to see you. Now that I’ve laid my eyes on you, I’m content.”
Beomhee’s gaze bore into Sohwa, making her uncomfortable.
“Isn’t it time you gave up on me?”
“Sniff... I can’t.”
“Oh, for goodness’ sake, get up! One of the Four Divine Beasts, kneeling to me?”
“I tried to give up, but I just couldn’t. I missed you so much....”
“Well, I suppose foxes as pretty as me are hard to come by.”
“Yes, truly. Absolutely.”
“I was joking.”
Beomhee’s earnest gaze, brimming with affection, made Sohwa click her tongue in pity.
It was evident that Beomhee wasn’t seeing the ‘silver fox’ Sohwa—she was seeing her adorable little pup Baeksom.
