Living Only For Myself: Make Those Who Hate Me Regret It-Chapter 125: Xu Su, Don’t Force Me.
Huang Chao, trailing behind Zhou Mochen, kept his head down and his gaze fixed on the ground, not daring to utter a single word. After walking for less than a few minutes, he sat on a bench by a flowerbed and started complaining that his feet hurt.
A muscle in Xu Su’s temple twitched. ’Compared to the masterful acting in her past life, Huang Chao’s current performance was utterly cringeworthy.’
Zhou Mochen, however, remained perfectly calm. Without even turning his head, he motioned for Xu Su to keep walking.
"..."
’Since this man had tracked her all the way to her school, Xu Su figured she should talk to him alone anyway.’ So, she obediently kept walking.
It was during class hours and the weather was cold, so even teachers without classes wouldn’t be out strolling around. The campus was quiet.
They hadn’t walked for long before they passed the athletic field. Zhou Mochen stopped and pointed to the bleachers. "Tired? Let’s sit here and talk."
Xu Su remained standing where she was. She looked up at him, her eyes red from suppressing her emotions. "Zhou Mochen, what on earth are you trying to do?"
’She looked like she was about to cry.’
Zhou Mochen realized this. His hand twitched slightly, but he immediately held back.
He smiled and asked softly, "Susu, it’s been seventy-six days. I came to ask if you’ve forgiven me yet. You blocked my number and wouldn’t leave campus. I couldn’t see you, so I had no choice but to come find you."
’Not seeing her for seventy-six days was truly his limit. Zhou Mochen even regretted his impulsiveness that day, which had made her so angry that she’d ignored him for this long and even blocked his number. Over these past few months, waves of anger would occasionally wash over him—fury at her heartlessness mixed with a desperate longing and a hint of regret. That’s how Zhou Mochen had spent the last seventy-six days.’
Xu Su averted her gaze and let out a cold laugh. "And what if I say no? What are you going to do then? Resort to getting angry and forcing a kiss on me again?"
Zhou Mochen’s lips pressed into a thin line. He took a step toward Xu Su, and she immediately scrambled back two steps, her expression guarded. "What are you trying to do now?"
He froze in place, only speaking after a long pause. "I apologized. You’ve given me the cold shoulder for so long. No matter how angry you were, it should have faded by now. Don’t be like this with me."
Zhou Mochen’s voice was one of complete surrender. "If you’re still that angry, just tell me what I have to do. Anything but ignoring me like you have been. Xu Su, I can’t take it anymore."
’He couldn’t stand it for even one more day.’
Xu Su’s heart clenched. ’What am I supposed to do? This is school grounds. Did he pick this spot because he knows I wouldn’t dare cause a scene here?’
"I can’t take it anymore either, Zhou Mochen. So why don’t you tell me? What do I have to do to get you to stay away from me? I just want to be a normal student. Can’t you just leave me alone?"
Her voice was laced with a despair so profound it was as if she had lost the will to live.
These were words that would have sent Zhou Mochen into a rage before, but now, he heard them without so much as a twitch of his brow.
Instead, he stated frankly, "If I knew how, I wouldn’t be standing here right now. Xu Su, I thought you would have understood by now. I’m a pathetic man. I can’t handle not seeing you. Seventy-six days was the absolute limit."
"I tried. I really did." Zhou Mochen walked over, lowering his head to gaze down at her, and sighed. "At first, I tried not to look for you, not to think about you. I told myself to have some self-respect, to not be so completely ensnared by a young woman like you. But seventy-six days... that was truly my limit."
On the fifth day of not seeing Xu Su, Zhou Mochen couldn’t hold back and sent her a text. As expected, he received no reply.
Three days later, when his texts were still met with silence, Zhou Mochen started calling.
And three days after that, he discovered his number had been blocked.
She wouldn’t even pick up calls from unknown numbers. He tried calling from other phones, but every one of them ended up blocked.
’Xu Su was that ruthless. What could he possibly do?’
’Zhou Mochen had tried to give up. He really had.’
’He’d gritted his teeth and endured for another sixty-five days, but in the end, he broke.’
’He missed her.’
’Now, with Xu Su standing right there, so alive and real in front of him, all he wanted was to pull her into his arms and crush her into his body, to make it so she could never escape, so she would never dare to be so cruel to him again.’
And yet, in front of all those people earlier, Zhou Mochen had somehow managed to restrain the impulse to embrace her.
He looked at the young woman just an arm’s reach away, afraid of overstepping again and making her angry. He softened his voice and asked, "Susu, please, just let me hold you?"
Xu Su’s head snapped up. Realizing how close they were, she retreated two more steps and warned, "Zhou Mochen, don’t you dare go crazy. I don’t want you holding me."
"Oh?" Zhou Mochen smiled. "Then who gets to hold you? If not me, then who?"
Xu Su said, "I only let my boyfriend hold me."
There was a seriousness in her tone that made Zhou Mochen let out a soft laugh. "Fine. So when do I get to be your boyfriend? Give me a definite answer."
"..." ’Is this man’s brain wired differently from everyone else’s?’ Xu Su wondered. She had rejected him, hadn’t she? Cleanly, utterly, and completely.
’How could he possibly ask that with such confidence?’
Xu Su took a deep breath, ignoring his question. Instead, she countered, "Class is about to end. If there’s nothing else, I’m going back. Zhou Mochen, my finals are tomorrow. I don’t have time to waste on you."
Zhou Mochen glanced at his watch, then reached out and grabbed her wrist. As if starved for physical contact, he forced their fingers to interlace. "Fine, no hug. Then just let me hold your hand. Xu Su, how long is your winter break?"
Xu Su struggled against his grip, but couldn’t break free. She was afraid that if she made a scene, someone would see, and then gossip about her would spread all over campus...
Hating herself for weighing the pros and cons, she finally answered through gritted teeth, "Five days."
Squeezing her hand gently, Zhou Mochen sighed, a hint of satisfaction in his voice. "Unblock my number. Reply to my messages every day like you used to, and come see me from time to time. Xu Su, that’s all I’m asking."
He acted as if he had already retreated as far as he could, but Xu Su was defiant to her core. "And what if I say no? Zhou Mochen, I’ve made up my mind. I don’t want anything to do with you. Can’t you see that?"
His grip tightened, and Xu Su winced in pain.
The smile on Zhou Mochen’s face had completely vanished. He stared at her for a long time—so long that her skin began to crawl. She was terrified, almost ready to surrender on the spot and pull out her phone to unblock his number.
’When it came to being crazy, she was no match for him. She was truly afraid.’
Sure enough, Zhou Mochen finally spoke, his voice radiating a bone-deep chill. "Xu Su," he said, "don’t force my hand."
’Don’t force my hand.’
Xu Su’s hand trembled uncontrollably. In the next instant, Zhou Mochen’s fingers clamped around her wrist like a vice. He leaned in close and whispered, "I just want to win you over properly. You don’t have to do anything else, just give me a chance to do that. Xu Su, don’t drive me to despair. I don’t know what I might do if you do."
He said, "You don’t care about your parents, and you don’t care about the Xu Family. Is there anything you care about? Do you have a weakness?"
He said, "Xu Su, I don’t want to do this. If I had any other choice, I wouldn’t actually threaten you. Don’t force my hand. Please, don’t force my hand."
