Little Miss Devil: The President’s Mischievous Wife-Chapter 96
Smart girl. She knew how to use words to defend herself. Madam Shen hadn’t expected that her grandson will take a woman like Lu Xinyi as his wife. She can see the undeniable attraction between the two ever since Lu Xinyi stepped into the room. Their eyes were shimmered, yearning to be with each other.
While Madam Shen talked with his wife, Shen Yi had kept himself silent but still aware what was happening around them. Ah, someone looked like a lovesick puppy right now.
Madam Shen had planned to use the wine to loosen up Lu Xinyi and to ask more questions about her and Shen Yi but it was put on halt when Shen Yi snatched the wine glass from his wife’s hand and reminded her about her promise.
“Xin’er” The sudden endearment from the old woman caught Lu Xinyi off guard. She didn’t expect that the old woman will yield and accept her too soon as Shen Yi’s wife. “Just like you said, I only want to see my grandsons happy on whatever decision they made but that doesn’t mean I would allow anyone to hurt them.”
“I understand, Madam Shen.” Lu Xinyi nodded. Of course, she was going to treat her husband right. Although this was the first time she’d met Madam Shen, Lu Xinyi was fully aware that the old woman was a person with compassion and integrity. Maybe it was her years of wisdom that made her so agreeable and understanding about their marriage.
Shen Yi met her eyes and understood her at once. He let her lock fell down into its right place when Shen Xue barged into the room to call his attention.
“Sorry to interrupt, bro. You and Grammie are to give speeches soon. Dad is already downstairs waiting for us.” Shen Xue explained.
“Then we should go and not let them keep on waiting.” Madam Shen passed her glass on a servant and led the way out of the VIP area. “Xue, stay close to your sister-in-law for the meantime. I don’t want people to speculate and to find out about her relationship with Yi. Not when her grandfather is around.”
Shen Yi and Lu Xinyi followed closely but before they went down the stairs, Shen Yi left his wife on his brother’s care. He was deeply satisfied that Grammie had seen Lu Xinyi in a good way. Lu Xinyi had done her best to protect their marriage without his help.
True. Grammie was capable of removing all his assets and inheritance but that wasn’t enough to leave him and Lu Xinyi in a desperate and poor situation. He had taken several precautions and made plans beforehand. He wouldn’t let his wife suffer in life just because he couldn’t provide for her needs.
When he’d married Lu Xinyi, Shen Yi had begun to liquidate his holdings and one by one had sold off the various companies he had acquired over the years. The huge amount of fortune he received from the sales of his assets was now earning its keep in a various secure place. It was also enough for him to start another company on his own, the SY Holdings. The one that had sponsored Lu Xinyi’s study to the Silver Leaf Academy.
While he occasionally invests to some interesting startup companies, most of his wealth was in safe and into investments that involved little or no risk at all. Over the years, Shen Yi had succeeded to free himself from intense supervisions of his businesses. If Lu Xinyi so wishes to open up her own restaurant, she only need only need to ask and everything will be done for her.
He had done his duty to his family and he would continue to do so if needed. As for Lu Xinyi, he would do his best to protect her interest. The family came first but it was also time for him to pursue a few personal goals of his own and starting a family with Lu Xinyi was included on it.
“Relax. Nothing will happen to Big Sis when I’m around.” Shen Xue gave him a thumbs up before waving his hand to let his brother follow their grandmother.
Shen Yi made his way and joined his father and grandmother. Everyone within the room stopped what they were doing and watched the three Shens climb their way to the stage.
On one side of the room, an old man was staring blankly at Lu Xinyi’s direction. His hands clenched on his side as he watched Lu Xinyi smile to Shen Xue as he offered his arm to her.
“Master, isn’t that the Young Miss? What is she doing here with one of the Shen’s young masters?” His assistant grumbled beside him when he noticed where his master’s attention was.
