Chapter 245: Calamity 14

.

Giant vines and roots rose up in fury, wrapping around and sweeping away every creature in their path.

After the initial onslaught, they twisted and coiled back onto themselves, snapping and tearing apart as chunks of wood and living sap broke free.

From those fragments, figures nearly three meters tall took shape, humanoids formed of wood and living sap, their limbs moving with surprising agility and strength.

Each of them radiated immense power, equivalent to at least the fifth stage of the Mortal Realm.

As soon as they came to life, they headed straight for the horde of corrupted beasts, unleashing themselves with lethal precision.

Every strike brought down dozens of enemies. Roots coiled and tightened, crushing anyone who dared resist, and every step made the ground quake beneath them.

The elven defenders stood stunned and awestruck at the sight. Eyes widened, jaws clenched, and for a moment, they were left completely speechless. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Even veterans at the peak of the Mortal Realm were left breathless; they had never seen anything like this before.Watching those entities form from twisted vines and living roots was enough to make even the horde of corrupted beasts tremble, stopping them for a brief moment in confusion and fear.

It was as if their chaotic, maddened minds were finally beginning to feel a hint of fear.

On the other side of the battlefield, near the center of the enormous crater formed after the detonation of the elven warrior’s dantian,

the corrupted being that was regenerating sensed the change immediately.

A shiver ran across its rough skin, the black veins beneath it pulsing as a sense of foreboding washed over it.

It lifted its gaze toward the sky, its twisted face betraying no emotion, yet clearly sensing that something powerful was approaching.

The elven warrior, mortally wounded by the detonation of his dantian, also raised his eyes to the sky.

Despite his body being torn to shreds, he managed to make out a figure suspended above—a young elven girl, hanging motionless in the air, her green eyes fixed on both the corrupted being and himself, radiating an imposing aura that was impossible to ignore.

He did not know why, but in her presence, the elven warrior felt an almost instinctive sense of reverence, an urge to bow before her.

"Who... is this girl?"

The changes within the human empire and the elven empire had undoubtedly caused confusion among the enemy ranks, so much so that even the beings beyond the mountain range could sense the scale of those changes and began wondering what was happening there.

The emperors did not know that their territories were under invasion by the enemy, but even if they had known, it would not have changed much for them.

Their strength against the enormous number of beasts was failing, and even the three of them, standing at the apex of their respective empires, were being overwhelmed by a single opponent who had beaten them to the brink of death in an incredibly short span of time.

Their strength was waning to the point that they could no longer maintain their domains, which dispersed, just like that of the corrupted creature, which had suffered severe injuries from all three of them.

The chaotic space formed by the collision of four domains was restored to normal, soon filled by the cold winds of the frozen lands, sending shivers through everyone, not from the cold, but from fear,

fear that there was no longer any hope for them.

It was precisely in this situation that the changes beyond the mountain range made the mysterious man furrow his brow, as did the emperors, who were sensing several powerful auras without understanding their origin.

The only thing they could be certain of was that something immense was happening within their territories, and that realization weighed heavily on their hearts.

But if there was someone particularly affected among the four, it was the Queen of the Elves. She immediately sensed the powerful vitality of the guardian spirit within the tree, an ancient entity whose existence she naturally knew of, yet had never truly been able to communicate with, nor even awaken.

And yet now she could feel it clearly.

That powerful being, one that even she would struggle to face, was awake and was clearly taking action.

So the question arose naturally: what had happened in her territory for even an entity likethat to be forced into motion?

Those same questions were also forming in the mind of another individual,

the Beast Emperor.

Unlike the elven queen, he did not have something like a guardian spirit of the empire. As far as he knew, he himself was the most powerful being within his territory, and it was precisely that awareness that allowed him to rule over the entire land without too many complications.

And yet, in this moment, he felt a strange presence coming from that direction.

He had no idea what it was, but one thing was certain,

that presence was stronger than him.

And how did he know?

It was because of his bloodline.

Yes, that very thing. Unlike the other races, beasts determined their social standing through lineage.

If one’s lineage was powerful, then their bloodline was purer, and the purer it was, the greater their future growth potential.

Among his fire dragon race, he possessed the purest and most powerful bloodline, so much so that even the formidable lightning dragon bloodline could not truly contend with him.

For centuries, no descendant with a purity matching his had been born, allowing him to prevail over the other dragon clans and, over time, seize control and stabilize his rule over the Beast Empire.

In his long life, he had never once felt fear or reverence toward anyone, no matter how powerful they were.

Yet today, he experienced both.

He felt a deathly fear toward the mysterious opponent he had just lost to.

And worse still, in this moment, he felt not only an overwhelming sense of inferiority, but also a deep reverence rising from the very depths of his bloodline,

a reverence not directed at his opponent, but toward whatever presence had manifested within his empire.

And so, just like the elven queen, he found himself asking the same question:

What in the heavens was happening in his territory?

Amidst all that turmoil and confusion, the three emperors had no chance to notice a subtle change occurring within one particular individual, or rather, two of them did not.

The Human Emperor, however, who did not sense anything unusual coming from his own territory, was able to perceive that change.

And the moment he did, a shiver ran through his entire being.

’What’s gotten into him?’ he wondered as his gaze fell upon the mysterious man, whose expression at this moment was downright ugly, his eyes also fixed in the direction where the three empires were located.

Could it be that he knew what was happening over there?

The Human Emperor asked himself that question, yet for some reason, he could clearly feel the murderous intent within that man steadily increasing.

He understood then that whatever it was, the man had grasped it, and that realization had enraged him.

And who would pay the price for that rage?

Obviously, them.

Or at least, that was what should have happened, if not for another change, this one far more evident.

The figure’s eyes trembled as his gaze shifted away from the horizon, where the three empires should have been, and slowly lifted upward.

His eyes sharpened, and instinctively, his grip tightened around the sword at his waist as he stared toward the sky.

The Human Emperor was confused. Instinctively, he too looked upward, and soon noticed it.

Suspended hundreds of meters in the air, almost concealed among the clouds, there was a figure.

A human, simple in appearance, yet whose presence was anything but simple.

With his naturally heightened senses, sharpened further by his cultivation level, the Human Emperor was able to see the being in the air clearly, and he noticed that the man was looking down at them with an utterly impassive expression.

’Who the hell is that?’

he wondered as his heart began to race uncontrollably.

He had no idea who that person was, yet he felt an overwhelming pressure emanating from that single presence.

And even though that gaze was not directed at him specifically, he felt as if his very soul were laid bare before that figure’s eyes.
