Limitless Cultivation: I Can Master Every Profession!-Chapter 244: Calamity 13
Chapter 244: Calamity 13
.
An ancient artifact, whose origin was unknown, yet whose power was known everywhere.
It was something that had first appeared with the First Elven Empress, and after her disappearance, this object, no different from an imperial relic, had remained in the most protected vaults of the Empire.
No one knew why, but none of the empresses who came after had ever been able to wield the relic. Eventually, it was sealed away, kept safe for its historical and symbolic significance.
Of course, it had been mentioned in many legends, and was known as one of the most distinctive traits of the First Elven Empress.
Therefore, people knew of it and were aware that such an object existed somewhere in the Empire.
It was known that the relic rejected all who sought to claim it after the first Empress, and that those who stubbornly tried to wear it anyway paid with their lives.
And yet now, this object appeared, worn by that young elf suspended above the city as if it had finally returned to its rightful place. The sight unsettled her mind as well as those of her subordinates; no one could make sense of what they were seeing.
First, the Guardian Tree of the Empire, and now this, what was happening?
Lin Xian, hovering above the capital of the Elven Empire, paid no mind to the commotion she had caused; instead, her calm gaze remained on the tree as it continued to glow brighter and brighter.
Soon, something seemed to awaken within it, and a voice resonated across the city:
"
That voice...
Heavens, I never thought I’d hear it again in this life.
Master, this humble servant can finally rest in peace, knowing you’re well." said the tree, its voice hoarse and ancient, as if it had witnessed and experienced much in its long life.
Its voice was calm and low, yet it carried across the entire imperial capital.
Needless to say, this stunned everyone beyond imagination. For a moment, the surprise from before turned into an even deeper shock as people covered their ears and stared in disbelief, wondering if it was a hallucination or some cruel trick of fate.
The Guardian Tree, rumored to be the protector of the kingdom, had truly awakened, not only that, it had even spoken.
It was too sudden and unexpected for anyone’s mind to process in such a short time. But what was even more important: the tree seemed to be addressing someone, calling them Master.
Could it be the Empress?
But that shouldn’t be possible. She should be beyond the mountain range, in the Frozen lands, leading the expedition alongside the other two emperors.
Then who was it addressing?
This puzzled many.
The elven warrior at the peak of the Mortal Realm, who had witnessed everything, was no in a state of shock and disbelief.
Her body seemed to tremble at those words.
Master?
Had the Guardian Spirit of the tree just referred to that girl as its master?
Needless to say, it didn’t take her long to connect the dots,
the crown, everything she had just seen, but precisely because she had done so, her mind could barely process it.
No, how could it be?
That girl, with her simple, innocent appearance... could it really be her?
The First Elven Empress, Lin Xian.
Needless to say, despite the evidence before her, such a supposition seemed too absurd to be believed. Yet the tree, acted in ways that only seemed to confirm the elven warrior’s suspicions.
"Qīng Zǔ, you little bastard, how is it possible that every time the Empire is in danger, you’re hiding here sleeping?
And what do you mean by dying in peace? Since when do you have that right?
i’ve already told you many times in the past that I’ll make you work like a mule until you die from it!" she said, her words fierce, in contrast to her sweet appearance.
But her words seemed to provoke a reaction in the tree, which for a moment appeared to tremble.
"Master, why are you so cruel to this poor servant, even after all these years? I still cannot die in peace? My old bones cannot take it anymore; come now, the Empire is in good hands. Let this servant have an eternal rest," said the tree, its voice like that of a feeble old man being bullied, yet its words seemed to have no effect on the elven girl.
The sight sparked another wave of shock in the capital, and the elven warrior no longer knew what was true or false.
Lin Xian clearly seemed unable to believe the old tree’s words and said with a stern expression:
"Stop wasting time and do your duty. I give you exactly one day to eliminate all those corrupted beasts.
"If upon my return I find even one of them still alive...you’d better be ready to answer for it." she said, and with a step, she vanished from sight.
Her words echoed across the spot, making the area tremble even more, which seemed to make the tree sigh before unleashing its power with vigor,
nothing like the frail old man he sounded like.
It knew it could not go against its master’s orders; it dared not.
But fate had it that there was someone it could vent its frustration on.
Its gaze focused in a certain direction, toward the northwestern border of the Empire, and immediately it sent a wave of energy in that direction.
There, near the edge where the interrupted battle was resuming, a shiver ran down everyone’s spine, particularly the corrupted beasts.
The sight seemed to confuse everyone present, especially the elven defenders, who exchanged looks of bewilderment as they tried to understand what was suddenly happening to those creatures.
The answer did not take long to arrive, for in the next moment, the earth trembled.
Before anyone could comprehend what was happening, at multiple points on the battlefield, the ground erupted, and thick, massive roots shot out, sweeping away all the corrupted creatures nearby.
