"Now, you have some cutie little summons back in Genovia to look after, so don't make them wait for your return for too long. You have a few months before your Orientation begins, so make the most out of it, but be sure to return home frequently." After giving her youngest son a few minutes to collect himself, Lea broke off the hug and held Aoni by his shoulders while beaming proudly.

"Darling, I think we have a few more things to address before he leaves.* Cough*," clearing his throat and refusing to acknowledge the daggerish glares being shot his way by Lea, Jason interjected at the best moment possible, considering his wife was trying to push their chick-son out of the nest.

"Oh? Really now? What could be so important that our beloved youngest son can't figure out on his own?" Crossing her arms and all but growling at her foolish husband, Lea retorted, earning another awkward cough from Jason.

"He has several items in there that were never taught about in school, sure spoken about, but never explained."

"Such as?" Changing from dagger glares to the stink eye, Lea flared her nostrils, making Aoni shift uncomfortably in his chair because he knew damn well that if his Dad kept talking, odds were the poor idiot would lose bedroom privileges for the next month.

"Like…the Flume Transfer node, or Portal Arrays, my beloved and amazingly beautiful wife, there are things that do need to be explained to our son…"

"ADORABLE AND MOST CHARISHED YOUNGEST SON!" Lea corrected while gently petting Aoni's Ash-Blond hair.

Turning robotically and giving his mother, "Please don't kill me too, Eyes," Aoni steeled his resolve, wet his throat with some orange juice, took a few quick breaths, and spoke up.

"Mother dearest, I really do need Father to explain these things; I know what those nodes do but not how to activate them, and if I want to make sure my adorable Glacia and Nyria can adapt appropriately, I will need this information."

Out of eyeshot from Aoni, Jason gave his youngest son a look that said more than words ever could.

'What a good son, SNIFFLE, taking one for the team, I am so proud…Sniffle.'

"Mom…"

Scrittt

"Mama…"

At first, there was a faint sound, something like thin threads snapping, but upon further inspection, the hand that had once been gently petting a tuft of Ash-Blond locks was now wrapping the strands around delicate olive fingers.

"Mommy, that hurts…" Fearing for his life now, as he felt the tension and pressure atop his head, Aoni tried using every name in his memory to appease the demonish woman clutching his head like a grapefruit…

But alas, it was all for nothing because, within a few seconds, Screams echoed through the halls of the Thurston Household.

AHHHHHH!!! AHHHHH, MY HAIRRRR; NOO MOM, AHH AHH MOM STOP PLEASE I DON'T WANNA BE BALD AT 16 NOOOO!"

You see, Aoni fucked up.

If there was one thing Lea absolutely detested, it was being called mother by her children, as it made her feel ancient, and in her mind, she was, of course, still a 21-year-old maiden who just so happened to have magically received seven children from the mythical stork.

As if that weren't bad enough, although the odds of her ever meeting Glacia and Nyria were slim at best unless her son reached a certain level of power, the sheer fact that Aoni had attempted to use them as a bargaining chip to gather information was no different in her book than using her future grandkids, uhh… the second generation of Stork Babies which were bestowed upon her children, as mere tools, something completely unacceptable in her book.

2 Beatings, a loss of hair, and a long, rage-fueled lecture later, Aoni stood before the Flume with only Jason by his side since it was too dangerous for Lea to be near the artifact.

Mind you, even after…educating her son, yeah, let's just call it education, Mother and Son had an emotion-filled goodbye.

"Right, you have everything, even those packages that came in the mail earlier?" Jason asked while observing the mental and physical state of his youngest son, given the hell he'd been put through for over 3 hours.

"Un, I've got everything, Dad, and before you ask, yes, I memorized the chants, activation costs, and activation methods of everything you gave me." Tightening the straps of his backpack, which had been delivered by the Bureau the day before, Aoni turned around and looked behind him up the stairs, where he saw Lea standing at the top in the doorway, holding a sobbing Cammy in her arms, clutching the stuffed bear-ape to her chest.

"Good," Giving Aoni one last pat on the shoulder for good luck, he stepped back and watched his youngest son step toward the shiny Sapphire Flume with unspoken emotion in his eyes.

It may seem dramatic for both Jason and Lea to be acting the way they were; however, one must remember that Genovia is a wild land, where anything could happen at a moment's notice, so anytime a traveler stepped foot through the Flume, they must make peace with the fact that they may never return home to Terra.

Families of Travelers always went through scenarios like this, providing they actually cared about each other, and the Thurstons were quite tight-knit, with the only person who hadn't been sad being Clara since she had full faith her brother would return in one piece.

There was no telling if this would be the final time they would see Aoni, and as such, tearful goodbyes were always expected to happen.

However, Aoni was different; all he did was offer a warm smile to his mother and baby sister and a soft punch to his Dad's shoulder; after all, only he knew that right now, his Territory was actually the safest place in either world for him to be.

"See you guys in a week," Aoni said in a bright voice as he turned back and looked into the center of the Flume.

'This time, things are different, sigh, I just hope those two didn't make a big ass mess for me to clean up,' Smirking and softly chuckling to himself, Aoni's face suddenly got serious as he spoke out to the Flume, and activated it with the name of his Territory.

'Erula'

hhhhhhhhhhHHHHUUUMMMM!
