Legendary Shelter Survival Guide-Chapter 245: Interesting creature
"What do you want?" Lucas could tell she was up to something shady.
Even though it was never directed at him, he knew how she tried to make people argue just for fun.
Upon further investigation from Bill who was now Lucas’s friend too, he got to know that Sandra had a habit of watching a lot of dramas, she was even addicted to it.
Not getting any drama through conventional ways, she tried making the drama on her own and enjoy it.
It was all fine and everything till now, but now even Lucas had become a target of her drama cravings.
’I will take care of her later… for now, keeping the secret comes first.’
"But first, promise me you won’t be telling anyone about what I am going to tell you. Just like you, I don’t want anyone poking their nose for now, I really am in need of help."
"Hm? Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, everything is okay, it’s just that there is a situation with my skill."
"The talking with the dead one?"
"Yes Yes, I want your help with it. And if you keep your mouth shut about it, then your little romance will be safe with me."
"You know, there is no need for you to blackmail, you could have asked me normally and I would have helped you anyway."
"I know, but I like it this way. Heheeheh~"
’She’s crazy’
"Alright, what is the problem that you are facing?"
"I can now summon the dead."
"WHA-!"
"SHHHH!" Sandra kept a hand at Lucas’s mouth to shut his mouth.
"Wait a minute, what do you mean by summoning the dead?"
"I mean, wasn’t that what we thought of the skill to begin with? I thought you knew that, things just got a little sidetracked because my progression of the skill was slow. But now, I know the ritual and I can perform it."
"And you also don’t want to tell anyone about it till you are successful."
"Wow, you are not dumb anymore."
"I was never dumb to begin with."
"Alright, we have to go outside the shelter and find a creature I can experiment on."
"What about the chunks of flesh here and there inside the shelter’s soil you placed?"
"My skill is not that good. I can’t use them for a long time."
"Then let’s go out, I will just tell everyone that you need to level up for your mission. But what will you tell your sister? Will she come with us?"
"No no, I want to give her a surprise."
"How will you go without making her have suspicions?"
"Ugh! Too many questions! I will take care of all that, you just have to come with me. That’s it."
Lucas still had too many questions that even felt were important. But if she was sure and all he had to do was go with her, then there was no need for him to ask anymore… for now.
"Before going, fill a few buckets with water so that there is no need for any for a day. I will bring extra potions with me if you want to get the points back fast."
"Yeah, that would be great. Let’s meet in 30 minutes. I can’t wait anymore." Experience more tales on novelbuddy
Lucas went around to everyone, as he was going to leave, he brought the slab with the information on it downstairs again not wanting unnecessary attention.
If many looked at this slab, they would want to talk to him and he needed to leave. Getting it up there after his trip seemed to be a much better idea to him.
30 minutes later…
Lucas and Sandra left and surprisingly, no one questioned them at all.
He knew it was Sandra’s doing, she had already talked with everyone.
"I just need any creature I can get but it should have a full body."
"Do you need the blood too?"
"Not necessarily but it should make it better."
Lucas nodded in understanding, they both wandered around and found a small creature.
"This the first time I am looking at a creature like this," Sandra stated with marvel.
"Me too."
The creature seemed to have tough skin with crude broad spikes on it. It was brownish.
The spikes were not like that of a porcupine, but smaller and broader in size.
It was a relatively big animal with a size as big and broad as a cammodo dragon.
Lucas dashed to it and the creature became even more alert than the time it had first gazed upon the duo.

To Lucas’s surprise, the animal shot multiple spikes toward him.
CLING CLING CLING
Lucas with his heightened senses, did not dodge them, he knew he couldn’t as they were fast.
So he defended himself with the broad surfaced side of the blades.
"This is new."
Lucas dashed forward not wanting to give the monster any more time. He first hit it with the broad side of the sword not wanting to get any more surprises.
’I knew it.’
When Lucas hit it, a loud stone to stone hitting voice came from the collision.
The monster’s skin was like rocks. If Lucas had used the sharp edge of the sword, he would have definitely lost some durability.
The monster was now on the ground completely, Lucas had made it lose balance.
The poor thing was trying to get up on its four legs again when Lucas saw the craving for survival in its eyes.
For a second, Lucas stopped and looked at the creature.
"It’s going to get up, Lucas! Hurry!" Sandra shouted in panic, not knowing what was happening.
"I won’t kill it."
"Hah?"
"We will find another one."
Lucas said and then looked at the creature with seriousness.
The monster was still not on his legs as if it did not know how to.
’It’s definitely a kid.’
Lucas knew he was playing a dangerous game, being so close to a creature that could hit him with spikes.
But something told him that he could do something else.
He kept one of his swords on the ground and opened one of the pouches on his belt.
The creature seemed too green to be true, all it did was try to get on its feet which looked very easy yet for the poor thing, it was a task.
Lucas reached into the pouch and pulled out a small piece of dried jerky.
He placed the jerky on his palm and extended it towards the creature.
Lucas did not care if the creature would even bite him, it was only level 1 and with his title, his healing was not like any human.
The monster, still shaky and uncertain, eyed the jerky with curiosity, its smell had reached it already.
It couldn’t help but sniff the jerky which was very near its nose. Lucas had made sure he was this close.
If he wanted the creature to surrender, he had to be as appealing as he could.
’If I can get the taming skill too, It would be great.’
"There, there," Lucas murmured soothingly. "This might help you feel better."
Lucas looked at the creature that was still eyeing Lucas with wariness.
But one thing was clear to him, the creature did not pose any fear now. It seemed to be slightly relaxed too.
The mark on his arm seemed to tell him otherwise, to kill the creature in cold blood yet this exercise was good for his mind.
To protect the creature while Lucas’s very body was screaming at him to kill it. That was helping him build mental resilience. Something that he needed dearly.
To Sandra’s amazement, the creature tentatively extended its snout and licked the jerky.
Almost instantly, its movements became smoother, and the fear in its eyes seemed to fade from the food’s taste.
"As expected, food can win over anything, humans and monsters alike."
"You compare humans and monsters together, seems like you have lost your touch."
"What did you even give it?" Sandra asked.
"Just a piece of dried meat," Lucas replied. "I don’t want to harm it if I don’t have to."

Sandra chuckled, "You’re a softie, Lucas. I thought you were all about leveling up and getting stronger."
"I am, but there’s more to strength than just defeating every opponent you come across," Lucas explained. "Sometimes, it’s about making the right choices. This creature has even better ways to help us than Duke itself."
"Don’t say that in front of Ella."
"I know, don’t want to get another lecture."
The creature was biting on the meat and Lucas could feel happiness emit from it.
"Me" Lucas said and the creature looked up at him, "Give" Lucas said again while pointing at himself and then the creature.
"Free food" He took out all 20 dried meat pieces from the pouch.
The monster seemed to go frantic when it looked at them all. It was clearly a child that was just spawned in this world.
Lucas did his best to communicate with the creature in the dumbest way he knew.
The creature, now more at ease, stood up and moved toward Lucas, specifically, the meat pieces in his hand.
