Legendary Necromancer: My First Summon is the Undead Dragon-Chapter 37: Tainted Human
Chapter 37: Tainted Human
He suddenly shot forward, crossed both blades, and attacked Rion. He was fast, but not fast enough for Rion not to react to.
A sand wall rose and blocked the attack. The man tried to retreat, but the sand protruded and grabbed his leg. In a rush, he cut through the sand and fell to the ground. He rolled and got on his feet, a look of disbelief in his eyes.
He knew that they were strong, but to be taken down so fast and easily—that wasn’t supposed to happen.
"Stop with the resistance," Rion said, dropping the wall.
The man’s eyes darted around quickly. He saw all of them standing there, and not one of them looked like someone he could take down—except the small girl.
When he saw her from the corner of his eyes, he immediately decided to use her as a hostage. So, without missing a beat, he charged toward her—the worst mistake he could have possibly made—as out of nowhere, a spear stabbed into his chest and came out from behind him. His eyes widened as he saw the shaft in his body.
Crypt appeared in front of him and kicked the spear deeper until it came out entirely from the other side. He grabbed the man by the head and lifted him off the ground.
"How dare you?" That was all he asked before slamming the man into the ground so hard that the head cracked open, allowing the blood to spill out along with nasty brain matter.
"Tsk, he just had to go after the girl," Seer clicked her tongue.
They thought they were done with this, but suddenly, the star around his neck pulsed with more energy. Dark purple, liquid-looking tentacles shot out of the star and started entering the man’s body. It fixed all the damage that had been done and took control of the body.
"Tainted," Rion muttered.
"Wait, what? You can’t be serious. You need direct contact with the abyss to become tainted, and mostly beasts and monsters can do it," Seer said.
"Normally yes, but that star around his neck—it is filled with energy from the abyss. The human soul is several times stronger than that of a monster or beast.
Because of that, there are very few ways to become a tainted human. One: you give it permission to taint you. Two: you enter the abyss or get in contact with something that has so much abyss energy that it can override your soul.
And the last one is dying or losing consciousness when in contact with something from the abyss—which is the case for this man," Rion explained.
"I see. Then we have to take him down before he becomes fully tainted," Seer said and got into her stance.
Jake pulled out his spear as well. Since he could use the skills of one of his summons for a day, he decided to go with Crypt. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com
"Ophelia, stay back. And if you see things get bad, run and hide. Do not return to that village," he said, then focused back on the man.
"You three attack, I’ll defend," Rion said. They nodded at the same time and charged in. The tainted felt them coming and raised his hands. Black tentacles shot out of the ground and into the air before shooting down toward them.
Crypt immediately got in front of Jake. He spun his spear above his head, planted his foot back, and slashed, cutting through the tentacles in one clean motion.
Jake ran past him, gave him a nod, and kept pushing. The tainted brought out more tentacles and attacked, but sand pillars shot out of the ground and blocked them. And any it couldn’t block, the others would handle themselves.
They got to the tainted and the three of them attacked at the same time, but it wasn’t going down that easily. Black spikes shot out of its body in all directions, extending for two meters.
Jake reacted fast and spun his spear, blocking the spikes and shattering them. Crypt tanked it without issue, and Seer used the side of her sword like a baseball bat and smashed them.
Still, it gave the tainted some time to retreat. It used tentacles to pull itself back a few meters, and when it landed, it stretched out its hand, and it turned into a black, viscous tentacle spread into three.
It shot toward the three of them at the same time with terrifying speed, but three sand pillars came up and blocked it. Yet it penetrated through, though it was so much slower that the three were able to dodge and push forward.
It retracted its arm and transformed it into some sort of blade, then made one massive sweeping slash. But they all dodged underneath it.
But it seemed this tainted wasn’t dumb, because as they were in the motion of dodging, tentacles shot out of the ground in front of them, ready to grab them.
"Not happening," Seer said. She turned her sword to face the tentacle while she was still sliding under. Her sword erupted in blazing red flames. She slashed from that angle, releasing a flame arc that tore through the tentacles, burning them.
They got on their feet after dodging the sweep slash and kept pushing. The tainted seemed enraged at this point. A dark, viscous liquid shot out of the man’s body and covered him entirely, transforming him into a ten-foot-tall grotesque purple monster.
Its arms were twisted abominations, the same as its entire body. It oozed with some sort of black liquid. It dripped from its body to the ground, killing the grass on contact.
"It forced a complete transformation," Rion said. "We have to take it down now. Its very presence will taint this area if left," he added.
"Already on it," Seer said and charged forward with unbelievable speed, her sword covered in flames. "I’ll cut you into bits, you overgrown piece of shit from hell," she roared.
