Legacy Of The Extra-Chapter 22: Progress(2)
Chapter 22 - Progress(2)
'Another day' Alicia let out a small breath before fixing her brown hair, her hazel eyes etched with a sense of dullness. It was just another day for her where she had to deal with travellers and drunkards visiting their tavern.
Occasionally, customers get into fights, causing tension in the Tavern and driving away other patrons. Some men view her with heavy, lascivious gazes, but she feels secure because her father owns the establishment.
But these days would be over soon.
Alicia was accepted into the Heldenstein Academy—A prestigious academy in the Capital City of Germainia Empire, Kairserhelm. The academy was mostly attended by children of noble families or sometimes even commoners who showed extraordinary talent and potential.
Like Alicia herself.
She may not be someone from a noble family to have a legacy but she had enough talent and proficiency in her Fire and Earth element to get accepted into the academy where commoners dream to get in. This would mean that her future is secured if she graduates from the academy.
Also, her blessing played a part in it—The Blessing of the Unyielding Flame.
A blessing is a divine gift given to the mortals by the Gods. It is different from legacies as it cannot be passed in the bloodline. Blessings are weaker than legacies they only provide small portions of the God's power.
A blessing can be various things—Weapons, armour, spells, and Mana boosts or Aura arts. For Alicia, her blessing is bestowed upon her by the God of the Eternal Flames, Volkrad. The same god whose legacy is carried by the Emberhold family.
Her Legacy allows her flames to grow stronger, the more fierce or longer the battle lasts.
"Alicia, Get Sir Micheal and His Brother?—Sir Noah, some of our special Juniper Berry Booze,"
"Yes, Father!"
Alicia's ears perked up upon hearing Micheal's name. Her dulled eyes started shimmering with excitement as the guest's name was Micheal Von Blitzfeld, a man unlike any other.
Men look at him with envious eyes, and women giggle at his presence—their faces turn red upon seeing such a striking young man. And his smile—it is that contagious smile that makes ladies faint around him.
But what attracts people towards Micheal is more than his looks. His accomplishments, his behaviour—the way confidently carried himself around but for Alicia, it was his kind nature. He would often help around the village with Mana Beast problems which the main Duchy neglected.
But he stays for a few months as he has duties as the Vice-Commander of the Germainia Army's 5th Legion. But his presence is always accepted, unlike the other nobles whose faces would have churned with disgust if they had visited this small countryside.
But this time it was different. There was someone else with him.
'His brother?'
She did hear her father correctly—One of Micheal's siblings had visited their Tavern but she never heard his name before.
'Noah was it?' She thought as she prepared the tankards for the drinks. Reaching the barrel with a tap attached to it. She rotated it and poured a purple liquid reminiscent of the colour of Juniper berries.
A sweet fragrance filled the air—the scent of Juniper berries invaded her nostrils, but she was used to it. Alicia put the two tankards on a tray and held them with ease as she made her way outside the kitchen.
When she entered the Tavern room, she spotted two distinct individuals—First was obviously Micheal. His white streaked lavender hair was neatly combed and he was wearing a simple white tunic and black trousers which still failed at hiding his chiselled looks. His back was facing her as he sat there comfortably.
But what gnawed at her was the new face sitting across from him—Micheal's supposed brother.
His hair was a lighter shade of blonde that was unkempt and messy. His silver eyes seemed cold and distant which was opposite of Micheal's warm eyes. And as for his looks—he can't even considered a competition for Micheal. It was Michael's victory by a landslide.
But that did not mean that he was bad-looking—No, he had a lot of saggy skin that made his otherwise bright features not shine much. If he could just tighten his skin and build a bit of muscle. Maybe there might be a contender for Micheal.
But most importantly what set him apart from Micheal was his demeanor. He just sat there and tapped on the wooden table—not with impatience. It seemed like he was observing. He seemed more reserved—someone who would not like to make idle chat.
Alicia approached the table of the two brothers. She placed the tankards on the table with practised ease. Giving them a small smile and she greeted them, "Hello, Sir Micheal and Sir Noah,"
"Hello, Alicia!" Micheal brimmed.
"Hello," Whereas, Noah just replied curtly his tone filled with neither excitement nor contempt.
"You are looking beautiful today as well," Micheal complimented smoothly.
"Please stop your flattery, Sir Micheal," Alicia replied, rolling her eyes.
"I am no—" But before Micheal could reply his face turned towards his brother Noah who was raising an eyebrow.
"Alright, alright," Micheal sighed, waving a hand in defeat. "I won't do it again, so don't."
Alicia blinked as she watched the two brothers. Noah chose not to reply but stare at Micheal. The silence that spread amongst them was a little awkward as Alicia had no understanding of what was going on between them.
"Umm, please enjoy the booze," She said breaking the silence, "And what food would you like to order?"
"Make it the usual. Roasted Boar with Honey Glaze," Micheal said and turned his head towards Noah, "What about you, Noah?"
"The same," Noah replied.
"Okay, it will be right with you" Alicia said making her way back to the kitchen.

Watching the girl named Alicia depart, I shifted my gaze back towards Micheal again who was looking at me with a smile. I don't what the hell this big brother is doing but something about his face does not sit right with me. What was he planning anyway?
But that did not matter because the sweet fragrance of the booze was making me go crazy. In the game, it was said that Juniper Berry Booze was a literal heaven-sent gift due to its sweet taste. So now trying it in real life—I am excited.

"Say, Noah, what do you think about her?" Micheal asked as I was about to grab the mug of booze.
"Who?" I asked.
"Alicia, of course, isn't she sweet?" Grabbing his mug and taking a sip, "Maybe you can get to know her? I heard that she is also attending Heldenstein next year alongside you"
"I see," I said taking a sip of the Juniper Berry Booze, its sweet taste gnawed at my buds—It was truly a gift from heaven, I might say. No wonder soldiers like it.
"Noah, I know you are still not over Elisabeth but that does not mean you won't talk with other girls,"
"PFT- Cough, cough," I choked nearly spilling out the drink, "What the hell are talking about?"
"Didn't she want to break off the engagement?" Micheal asked ignoring the drink I spewed out.
"No, it was me."
"Oh, don't lie. You were always following behind her during banquets and ceremonies" Micheal said shrugging his shoulders.
"We don't talk ab-"
"Help! Beasts!"
-GRUUUUOOOHHHHRRR!!
Before I could reply, a deep and guttural roar shook the entire tavern. The wooden walls trembled, and startled customers froze mid-conversation.
Micheal moved first tapping on his ring from where a thin blade with a crucifix hilt came out and he dashed towards the exit. His expression was that of concern.
"Noah!" He shouted, "Take up your sword and follow me outside!"
"Yes," I said tapping on my ring from where the Estoc I bought in Donnerwall came out with swift movement, falling in my right hand.
'What Mana Beast is it, Dante?' I asked.
[Ironhide Bear, they are common in such areas] Dante replied.
Well, if it is an Ironhide bear then Micheal should be able to slay it easily but still let's follow and see how he fights. I followed behind him hoping to get a spectacle but I was so wrong.
