Chapter 98: Rat Caught In The Trap!

Nathan had struck down the Transponder with his mace, he was not going to stand there and let them ruin his one chance of getting the money he needed.

He looked up to see the other warriors fighting the Orcs. They were distracted, which worked in his favor.

’I can’t afford to let any of them follow me. I am no match for them. Neither am I a match for that monster calling itself a knight.’ He turned to look at Pryion, who was smiling.

’If I kill Darius Winters in this pathetic state of his, I would be able to control that thing, and there is no two ways about it. With that knight by my side, I would be able to walk out of here alive, and nothing or anyone would harm me.’

Nathan turned to look at the other Transponder taking care of Darius, he held his mace closely as he began walking to them.

’This fraud needs to be finished off!’

The Transponder, taking care of Darius, noticed that Nathan was coming close to them, and he turned to look at him.

"Mr. Cruz, aren’t you going to be part of the fight?" He had a worried look on his face, seeing that Nathan was the only warrior left there.

Nathan loosened up his face, he was not about to take out a man when he would be able to raise an alarm.

"I came by to see how he was doing. Are you going to be able to take care of him alone?" Nathan was trying to fake his concern for Darius in that state. He was doing a good job with it, and it looked like he was going to be able to do something with all of it.

The Transponder turned back to Darius, nodding slowly. "He should be awake soon, and then both of you can go down to the battlefield."

The Transponder then noticed that his partner was not with Nathan, he turned to see if he would spot him.

"Say, did you see my..." He paused when he noticed the other transponder lying in a pool of blood, his eyes then turned to Nathan’s mace.

He looked at Nathan, his mind still lying to him that there was no way he would attack an official.

"Mr. Cruz, what happened?!" He was about to step back. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Nathan smiled, looking at the Transponder. He was not going to say anything or do anything with him looking, but he had no choice now that his cover had been blown.

"Well, I never expected anyone to see me or even find out what I was trying to do, but now you have seen me, I want to let you know." Nathan raised his mace, looking at the Transponder with a nasty smile. "I only came here to see how I would be able to make more money. But with my team missing, and these losers facing those creatures, I am not going to miss an opportunity to make sure that I will be able to walk out of here alive!"

He brought down the mace about to kill the Transponder, but when the Mace was about to land on the Transponder. Something blocked the Mace, pushing Nathan back.

He got his balance, he looked up to see what had pushed him back. His eyes widened when he saw the man standing close to the Transponder.

"Impossible!" He gritted his teeth, he held his mace closely, trying to see if he was actually seeing the right person or if it was his mind playing games with him.

Darius had woken up and sprang into action, making sure that he would protect the Transponder from the hit.

His eyes glowing bright red, he was filled with pure rage, seeing what Nathan was about to do.

"You wanted to kill him." He spoke slowly, and he sounded disappointed. "How on earth does your head work, man?"

Nathan let out a sigh. He placed the mace on his shoulder, looking at Darius and the Transponder.

"Well, for starters, there is no way I would want to die here, and to make sure that none of you losers would be able to tail me, I would gladly bash all your skulls in."

Nathan smiled, looking at Darius, he wasn’t about to lose to someone he knew as an F-rank.

"You know, you might have the others fooled, but you can’t fool me." He pointed to Darius, taking his stance. "I know you are an F-rank and there is no way you got to SS-rank in a few months!"

Nathan dashed for Darius, releasing an intense amount of energy- his mace was covered with fire as he was about to hit Darius. But the young warrior didn’t do anything, he stood there looking at the man as he charged.

"This is where you die! Darius Winters!" Nathan yelled as he struck Darius with the mace one more time. The hit sent a wave of dust across the battlefield, grabbing the attention of the others fighting.

Theo turned to see that Darius was no longer where he had been lying, and there was a Transponder on the floor.

"Shit, an Orc got to them!" His voice laced with worry, he knew that there was a chance that they had faced trouble with an Orc, and it was going to affect them.

"I don’t think that is the problem...." Raya pointed.

Theo turned back, he could now see what was going on with the dust clearing up. His eyes widened as he was slowly getting engulfed in rage.

"Nathan, you bastard!"

Everyone saw Nathan trying to hit Darius with his mace, but his attack was being pushed off by our white haired warrior. Nathan was struggling, he couldn’t believe what was happening. There was no way for Darius to be that strong; he was an F-rank the last time he saw him.

Darius slowly looked up at Nathan, his eyes were serious. Almost like he was timing the mace, he caught it halfway. Looking at Nathan, he looked more disgusted than angry, he was not going to waste his time trying to kill someone like that.

"I wonder if you choose to be ignorant." Darius was evading all the attacks Nathan threw at him like they were nothing.

"Stand still!" Nathan yelled as he swung the mace, he was trying to make sure he would kill him once and for all.

Darius stood still, looking at the warrior. The attack connected- but surprisingly, it didn’t hurt him.

Nathan was looking at Darius, and he was sure that he was seeing something else. As he gazed into the eyes of the white haired warrior, he could see what looked like an abyss filled with souls.

"You....what are you?" Nathan managed to say, looking at Darius, put fear into his body.

Darius pulled him close, looking at Nathan, he smiled a bit. "I am someone you shouldn’t have messed with."

With that, Darius delivered a devastating punch to Nathan’s stomach, the blow sent the warrior crashing into the forest.
