Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 63: A Knight’s Word
"This is an unprecedented move from those vile creatures!" Callous could be seen trying his best to close what seemed like a spatial portal.
"It’s not like you don’t know why they are trying their best to make sure that they would enter this realm." Cerion stood behind him, his hands glowing as he pulled out a staff.
He struck the portal with it, immediately sealing it.
Callous shook his head, he was looking at the place where the breach had appeared. He had a worried expression on his face, he turned to look at his brother.
"There is no stopping them if they try again. You know we can do our best against low ranking beings but them, if they come through then it means that the others would be able to walk through and take this realm for themselves."
"We won’t let that happen," Cerion spoke up. He was looking at his brother, and he could see the look of distress on his face. "Even if it would make us speak to the mortal, then we would..."
"Huh? Are you picking sides now? And you choose to talk to the mortal?!" Callous was surprised to hear that his brother would talk to someone that low.
"You don’t see it, do you, Callous?" Cerion turned; his eyes were cold and distant as always. "That mortal is the only way to make sure that the realm doesn’t fall apart. The other divines might not see it, but we have seen it. If Ashran’s powers were given to him, then it means that there is something about him that is different."
Callous for eons had seen Cerion make judgments about different beings, but he had never spoken like this before.
"He has Slav’s scrolls, he will be able to read it now." Callous placed his hands on his brother’s shoulder. "I only hope that there is something he would be able to do with it."
Back at home, Darius had entered the training dimension, where he was clashing with Pryion in a sparring match. His eyes were heavy, and he couldn’t sleep; the images were haunting him.
Training with the knight was even tougher than training with the golems. Pryion was faster and could dodge his attacks with no problem.
"Faster, Lord Darius!" The knight yelled as he swung his sword. Darius blocked it with Ve’xa; he was looking at Pryion, and he still couldn’t imagine that a bloodthirsty entity like him was now under his control.
Darius’s swordplay had improved. Pryion, though reborn, still moved with the deadly precision of a master.
"Argh!" Darius yelled, trying to land a blow on Pryion, but he was not fast enough to keep up with the knight. He swung the blade only to be blocked and kicked down on his back.
Before he could stand, Pryion poointed the blade to his face. "Yield, Lord Darius, you have done enough for today."
Darius couldn’t even argue. He lay his head back on the ground, he couldn’t sleep for long without seeing the beings in that eerie realm or Slav smiling at him.
"Arghhh! Why on earth is this happening to me?!" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Darius rolled on the floor, pulling his hair; there was no escaping it. He looked up to see Pryion standing there, not saying anything, only looking at him.
Darius sat up and stared at the knight. "C’mon, Pryion, you can sit here." He patted the floor close to him. Pryion looked at Darius’s gesture. He sheathed his blade and walked close to him.
He sat down there, and both of them were sitting together like two partners who had come back from a bad business day.
"You don’t say much, do you?" Darius sighed. He looked up ahead, trying to see if he would get something off his head.
"You haven’t asked me anything, sire," Pryion spoke up, breaking the odd silence.
Darius turned in shock looking at the knight, he smiled when he noticed that knight was talking to him.
"So you can talk aside training, it’s great!" Darius smiled, but his smile faded as he remembered what he had seen in Pryion’s memory.
He knew if it was him, he would resent himself. "Hey Pryion, do you hate me?"
The knight turned to look at his master. He spoke in a calm voice. "Why shall I hate you, Lord Darius?"
"You know, I killed you, and I brought you back and made you my knight. There should be a bone of resentment somewhere." Darius stared at the knight, his helmet covering his face.
"I bear no form of hate for you, my liege; if anything, you saved me." Pryion touched his chest, looking down. "Being reborn in your calm and welcoming essence makes me feel like I am with my family once more."
Darius had teary puppy eyes when he heard what Pryion said. "I am the worst, and I locked you in that storage dimension for three weeks! I have to look for a way to let you come into the house without burning it with the heat coming from you."
Darius sat down, wondering if there was a way for him to bring Pryion out to the real world as a human.
"I wonder if summons would count as guild members. He is a good fighter. But how am I going to bring him out without him burning down any building he walks into?" Darius stroked his chin as he wondered what to do.
’Cover him in water, that’s something you might think of.’ Azree chirped in. Darius had a bulging vein on his forehead.
"Azree, one of these days I will look for a way to enter that space again, and I am going to deal with you!" Darius sat down, he was looking at Pryion, still thinking of a way to give him a human form.
’Till then, log or brains, but if you want to make him human, then one of the spells in those locked skills will help you do it.’ Azree spoke up, his words made Darius remember that there were skills locked till he was at the level of Dragon Marshal.
"You think so?" He wondered if it would be possible.
’There is a possibility we would never until you reach that level.’ Azree spoke with some certainty in his voice.
Darius smiled. He got up and turned to Pryion. "I will work hard and look for a way to bring you out of this place. I promise."
He extended his hand to shake the knight, and Pryion looked at it.
"Thank you for putting me as part of your worry, my liege. I am forever indebted to you." Pryion shook Darius’s hand, and almost immediately, Darius was pulled into what seemed to be an endless stream of memories.
He saw wars, terrors, and beasts he never knew existed. As he was about to break free, he saw a familiar face, a face that haunted him.
"Slav?"
Darius immediately drew his hand from Pryion, and he fell on the floor, landing on his bottom. He looked at the knight, he was in shock, his entire body drenched in sweat, his legs trembling.
"What is wrong, my liege?" Pryion stood up and moved closer to Darius.
Darius, breathing heavily, looked at Pryion. He couldn’t control what was going on in his head. "You met Slav?"
