Chapter 59: One Of A Kind Anomaly

Liu and Keith were shocked to see that Darius had picked up the dumbbell like he was picking up a stick. It was not clear if he was unaware of the weight or if he was trying to show them he was strong.

Theo turned to look at him. He wasn’t shocked that Darius was that strong; he had seen him attack a Red Cobra, and he was having fun doing it.

’If I hadn’t seen him do something that monstrous, then I would have called you a demon, but then I know you are harmless to anyone who doesn’t cross your path in the wrong way.’ Theo thought to himself as he saw Darius drop the dumbbell back.

"Now, Darius, we want to test your speed," Liu announced. Darius walked to the laser and stepped in.

They cranked it up to level five, and the young warrior was doing a good job avoiding the hits like it was nothing to him. He was faster than the lasers.

"Take it to Level 9!" Keith turned to the man on the machine, but weirdly, Darius was still keeping up with it. It was as if he was not even trying to dodge it.

"That would be enough," Liu cut the test short. He was sure if they were to continue, then they wouldn’t even get anything out of it all.

Darius stepped out of the machine and turned to look at the glass. He could feel their eyes on him, as if they were in awe of what he was doing.

’Don’t break their machines,’ Azree chimed in; he sounded like he was enjoying the show.

Darius had a smile on his face; he knew he had gotten stronger, but it was amazing what he could do. ’I will try not to!’

The young warrior walked to the orb, he paused when he got in front of it.

"Now, place your hand on the orb. We will read your mana to assess your rank." Liu instructed.

Darius placed his hand on the orb, it began to glow brighter than when Theo touched it.

"Liu, are you seeing this? The orb hasn’t been this bright in years!" Keith was fascinated, "Even the last set of SS-ranks couldn’t make it glow to this level! This isn’t normal."

Suddenly, the orb stopped glowing, with a slight crack on top of it. Keith and Liu were shocked to see that he was able to make the orb stop working.

"Sir, the orb has stopped working." The man behind the machine that decrypts the orb’s reading spoke up. "Sir, it’s not down because it got his rank. It’s down because it broke!"

Keith and Liu turned to look at Darius, They were looking at a warrior who had both a scary mana pool and strength that seemed incomparable.

’I am not surprised that you’re this powerful. I knew from the moment I first touched you. You were not a normal warrior,’ Liu smiled as he looked at Darius.

"Now, Mr. Winters, do you have any abilities or elements you want to tell us about?" Liu asked, looking at Darius from the observation room.

Darius knew he was not meant to announce his ability to the public fully, but he was not going to lie either, so he would tell them only a few.

"Uhmm, I can use telekinetic abilities. I also control fire, and I am training with the sword, and I am a good hand-to-hand fighter." Darius smiled.

Keith was looking at him, he couldn’t help but wonder why it felt like he was dealing with a child. He slowly held his head, he had seen way too much to process a bit.

"That man is almost in the Mythic Rank, and it is hard to put warriors in that rank unless they show they are worthy of it." He looked up to see Darius walking up to Theo.

Liu nodded; he was happy he had gotten to see a peek of Darius’s abilities. "He is a good man, that’s for sure. So you don’t have to worry that he is going to get power-hungry like the other warriors in Creston."

Keith turned to his partner, he was looking. "How do you know that? They did say that they would be opening a guild, and he is going to be the captain, so there is no..."

"He is not going to be guild captain, he told me himself." Liu smiled. He was already fond of Darius and the way he would act like he didn’t care what anyone did, but he always cared.

"He what? How is that possible? Doesn’t he want to be famous and all from that power of his?" Keith was surprised to hear that Darius was not going to the leader of his guild.

"Yeah, I know he is not your typical strong warrior, and from my close observation. He is a kind-hearted person, very pure and not tainted by the world." Liu was speaking from his heart, he smiled as he talked about Darius.

"The only thing he cares about are the people he considers family, and it is the only reason for him even being a warrior."

"Not to mention, he has Theo Sung there, a member of the Sung family and the only one who didn’t want to get caught up in their corrupt ways. Both of them will make quite the team." Liu smiled.

Keith could see the sincerity in Liu’s voxie and he could also see that Darius was not even trying to be an ass. Hearing all that, he knew that he was not going to be a problem.

"Well, I would say he is a good man but still... He is a freak of nature." Keith smiled; he was going to enjoy seeing Darius grow as a character.

"Darius Winters, SS-rank (anomaly)."

They announced.

Darius looked up with a smile on his face. "I am an SS-rank, hah. This is funny, isn’t it, Theo? I used to be called dead weight."

"Yeah," Theo smiled. He was looking at Darius, and he had an uneasy feeling. "Oi Darius."

Darius turned to look at him, he could see the worried look on his face. "What is it?"

Theo looked up, he was not sure if he was going to be able to lead Darius. "I am meant to be the leader, and that means calling things to order, but then how am I going to do a good job? If anything, this test has shown me the gap in our powers, and there is no way..."

Darius flicked Theo’s forehead, he was looking at him with a weird face.

"Theo, this is leadership we are talking about here. Sure, I would be a good leader, but when I get angry, I might make a mistake, and then it would affect the guild. I don’t want that. If anything, I want the guild to feel like a family where we can call out a mistake. And you are quite good with that sort of thing; that is why I want you to be leader." He turned to look at the door as he saw Liu and Keith coming.

"Let’s a make a guild different from the others, Theo, with you leading it and helping from the shadows." Darius smiled, looking at Theo.

Theo could see it again, the warm smile that made him trust the young warrior the very first time they spoke. "I will be sure to lead you well!" He stood erect like a soldier.

"Just make sure you keep your end of the bargain and keep supplying me with chicken breasts, and I will remain docile. Besides, we have a score to settle with that Bastard Cruz. I will wait for a while before I take him down!"

Darius had the crazy eyes, he wasn’t going to forget that Nathan Cruz had planned to kill both he and Theo during the Red Cobra Raid.

"Easy now," Theo said as he patted his shoulder. Darius turned to look at him. "We will let him come to us, then we will take him out."

Both warriors had a crazy look on their faces, showing that they were going to enjoy putting Cruz in his place.

Keith and Liu walked up to the warriors with their new IDs, they were going to be happy to hand it to them.

"Congratulations, Mr. Sung and Mr. Winters, you have gotten your ranks reevaluated." Liu smiled as he handed them the IDs. "But before we let you go and form your own guild, there is someone who would love to talk to you."

Darius and Theo were surprised. They turned to look at each other, then back to the men.

Suddenly, there was a might pressure in the room, almost like something powerful walked in. Even Darius could feel the immense mana coming from the being.

’What in the world is that?’ He turned to look at the door to see a man walking towards them; each step he took seemed to increase the pressure.

"Chairman of the Creston Warrior’s Association, Victor Hordes!"
