Chapter 58: Charms And Tests

It had been three weeks since Darius took down Pryion and went on a theme park ride with his beloved sister, Lena. Everything seemed to be going well for the people of Creston.

Cerion appeared in the sky above Creston. He looked down at the city with a sour look on his face. He stared at the mortals walking about their daily routine.

"Pitiful, they are unaware of what awaits them. This city is the main gateway of Mayhem, and they are going to be hit first. Well, he is here anyway, so they would be attacking here first."

He grunted; his presence alone was able to distort the every space around him, forcing birds to change their trajectory. It was still obvious that he was not in the mood for anything fun.

"I hope you are ready for what’s waiting for you, mortal."

"Lena! Wake up! Please wake up. You need to head out now." Darius was already dressed. He was looking at his watch, waiting for his sister to finish up what she was doing there. "Mr. Liu said that Lily was going to help you out and they are almost done, so..."

"I am done!" Lena popped up behind Darius; she had a smile on, and she had a blue middleschool uniform on. "You worry too much."

"I worry too much? I wouldn’t need to worry if a certain little troll wasn’t blessed by the snail king." Darius pulled his sister’s cheeks, he had a smile on his face.

"Now please, take care and I might be home late so dont worry if you dont see me here. I am going to leave your favourites in the kitchen." He leaned over and gave her a kiss on the forehead. "Be good at school."

Lena turned and ran for the door. "I will! Bye, Darius Ogre King!" She yelled as she opened the door and left.

Darius stayed there for a while looking at the door. He was smiling, almost forgetting that he was getting prepared for something.

’Pardon me, aren’t you meant to be getting ready to meet someone and go somewhere?’ Azree chimed in, snapping our foolish young warrior back to reality.

"I’m supposed to meet Theo for the reassessment test! Agh!" He yanked on a white shirt, slid into some brown trousers, then sprinted toward the door.

’Idiot, you are barefooted!’ Azree quipped.

"Thank you!" He turned, grabbing a pair of loafers, before leaving the house.

-

Right out at the city square close to the association headquarters, a man standing tall at 6 feet, dressed in a forest green shirt and black trousers, could be seen holding a phone in his hand.

The man had beautiful emerald eyes and a physique that would put most men to shame, followed with brown hair he had tied into a ponytail.

Theo Sung...

He had been training since the last time he and Darius had spoken about the guild. He didn’t want to be relying on his monstrous abilities if they were going to be forming a guild.

"He’s late." Theo let out a worried sigh whilst looking around to see if he would spot Darius.

Passerbys were looking at Theo like they had seen a divine being descend from the heavens; men were envious of his looks whilst the ladies had hearts floating around their heads.

"I wonder if he is single."

"Fool, how can a hottie like that be single! He doesn’t even look like he’s human."

"Theo!"

A voice called out. Theo turned to see Darius running like he was being pursued by a pack of wild dogs.

"Theo, sorry I am late!" Darius stopped right in front of him, he was smiling as he looked up. He noticed Theo’s change in physical appearance, he looked completely different.

"Hey, did you change your look?" Darius looked at him, ogling him like he was trying to sniff something out.

"You’re one to talk; every time I meet you, it’s like you grow even finer than before!" Theo had noticed Darius’s slight change in height and that his ashbone colored hair was growing. "You look like a model with battle scars!"

"You’re one to talk, Mr. Ponytail!"

"Argh, there are two of them now! If I die today, then I would know that the heavens blessed me with the sighting of two absolute hot men!"

The two ladies who were admiring Theo were still there when Darius showed up. And they were blown away with his beauty.

"We better head in and make sure that there is no problem." Theo turned and began walking to the association.

Darius began walking close to him with a smile on his face. "This is going to be fun." He blurted out as he walked fast, matching Theo’s pace.

Both warriors walked majestically reaching the association door, security was blown away when he saw both of them.

"They must be here for the reassement test, they look like models than warriors."

"Look at the one with the white hair; he looks dangerous. Those are scars on his neck, and look at the dragon tattoos on both his hands!"

Theo and Darius noticed everyone looking at them, but they weren’t going to let it hold them back. They looked up to see Keith and Liu waiting for them, they had smiles on their faces.

"Mr. Sung, Mr. Winters! It is an honor to see the both of you." Keith smiled as he turned to look at Darius. ’Is it me or did this man get even stronger than before?! The others can feel it, but I feel his mana matching that of three SS-ranks!’

He was fighting his thoughts internally. Ever since he saw Darius walk out of that dungeon all beaten up, he was wondering what kind of human he was.

"So, Darius, it’s finally here." Liu walked up to Darius and extended his hand to shake him. "I look forward to seeing the kind of warrior you will become after this."

Darius had a smile on his face, he was looking at Liu. "I won’t change, and I am not going to cause any trouble. Theo would be there to talk some sense into me."

Theo almost went pale when he heard Darius call his name like that. he had seen Darius fight, and he knew that there was absolutely nothing predictable about the man.

’Don’t you dare drag me into this!’ Theo wanted to yell out loud.

"Sure, you told me both of you would be forming a guild. I know it is going to be one heck of a guild. After the test, I would want to see what kind of guild it is you are aiming for." Liu turned and began walking down the hall; Keith and the two warriors followed him.

"These tests are made to see how strong and how fast you are. Then we will test your mana flow, followed by your other abilities to evaulate which rank you are." Keith pointed out, he brought out two files and showed it to them.

"Darius Winters, you were evaluated as an F-ranked with no impressive physical abilities, and your hair was black when we saw your documents. But following your current hair change, you seemed to be something else."

Darius felt like Keith hated him; he was looking at him, and he could feel the hostility.

’His remarks remind me of Azree a lot.’ Shivers went down Darius’s shoulder when he remembered Azree’s taunts. He looked at Keith, and he could feel it wasn’t hostility, but he was trying to be wary of him, knowing he wasn’t normal. ’I guess it’s natural.’

"Now for Theo Sung, he was evaluated as an A-rank and a strong one. He was on top of the board for mercenaries who were strong. But since the uncharted dungeon event where I presume you met Mr. Winters here, you haven’t gone on another raid, and you have been training."

All of them stopped in front of a room; the sign there read Rank Evaluation Room- Keep Off.

"Inside, there is the equipment we would be using for your tests and other things, so I would love to see how far both of you can go." Liu smiled.

Darius and Theo walked into the room, and they saw different things there. From dumbbells and lasers, it was all there. Then, a massive orb and other wires.

The speaker went on, following it was Liu’s voice.

"Mr. Sung, I would love it if you head to the dumbbells and lift from the smallest to where you can stop."

Theo walked to the dumbbells and looked at them. Letting out a sigh, he lifted the first one with no problem, then the second one, and then he struggled with the third one.

"Great! You did well, Now I want you to proceed to the laser stand." Liu instructed.

Theo climbed on the laser stand, looking around in confusion; he was not sure what was going to happen. Suddenly, the lasers turned on and began shooting at Theo, but he managed to dodge all of them.

"Increasing the speed!" Liu said, and immediately, the laser speed increased. Theo lasted there for about five minutes, and at the fourth level, he was hit with one of the beams. It was harmless.

’I still need to work on my pace.’ Theo stepped out of the machine.

"Now for the final. I want you to go to the orb and place your hand there."

Theo walked to the orb and placed his hand there. The orb suddenly began to glow; it lightened up to a point, then stopped.

"Good, Mr. Sung, now tell us, do you have any abilities? Like elemental control or any other thing?"

Theo scratched his head, looking around. "I have a bit of wind control, and I am almost at mastery with my spear."

"Thank you, Mr. Sung! You have been reassessed to an S-rank (level 8) quite high." Liu announced happily.

"Uhm?! I lifted all of these! What’s next?!" Darius yelled, carrying the very last dumbbell in his hand, the heaviest of the seven there.

Back in the observation room, Keith and Liu were losing their minds when they saw Darius casually holding the dumbbell.

"Is he carrying 25 tons of weight like it’s nothing?!"
