Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 80: Is It So Laughable That I Like You?
Miles Monroe looked at him coldly, "You’ve been married to Vera for over three years, you should know what kind of person she is."
"Naturally, I can’t be as clear as Counselor Monroe." Winston Valentine leaned back in his chair, smiling self-deprecatingly, "After all, the Vera Yves in front of me isn’t the same as the Vera Yves in front of Counselor Monroe."
"There are no walls that don’t let the wind through in the world. You’d better think carefully about how you’re going to explain to Vera once she finds out."
"Explain?" Winston Valentine chuckled indifferently, "What is there to explain about the truth?"
"Winston Valentine!"
Miles Monroe grabbed his collar.
Winston Valentine looked at him coldly, "You wouldn’t think Vera Yves didn’t know, would you?"
"What are you talking about?" Miles Monroe was momentarily stunned.
Winston Valentine sneered, "She doesn’t care, so why do you? This brother-sister bond of yours seems a bit impure."
"Bang!"
A fist smashed onto his face, and Winston Valentine licked the corner of his lips as the taste of blood spread across them.
"Bang!"
A fist came back with equal force.
The surroundings fell silent for a moment, until someone shouted loudly.
Both men were hitting each other hard, their expressions fierce, as if they wanted to beat each other to death, and no one dared to step in to stop them.
An hour later.
Vera Yves followed Zoe Monroe to the detention center to pick someone up, and saw two tall figures at the entrance. They looked handsome from afar, but up close, they were like two swollen pigs.
Winston Valentine was smoking, the corner of his mouth twitching painfully with his movements.
Miles Monroe was making a phone call, and his mouth stiffened painfully when he spoke.
Zoe Monroe tugged on Vera Yves’ arm, lowering her voice, "Vera, could it be that they fought because of you?"
Vera Yves felt a headache coming on.
Vera Yves walked directly to Miles Monroe’s side and looked at his face, worriedly asking, "Miles, are you okay?"
Hearing Vera Yves’ voice, Winston Valentine paused his movements, took another puff of his cigarette, then extinguished it in a nearby trash can.
"I asked you to come, but I didn’t ask you to bring Vera." Miles Monroe glanced disapprovingly at Zoe Monroe.
Zoe Monroe hid behind Vera Yves, "From childhood to adulthood, this is the first time you’ve fought your way into the police station. I wanted Vera to witness this historic moment with me, is that not okay?"
Miles Monroe looked at her helplessly.
Zoe Monroe snorted, "Cousin, you’ve at least trained, how did you get beaten like this? It’s embarrassing for our Monroe Family!"
Miles Monroe snorted coldly, neither of them had held back, neither had come off better.
Not far away, Walter Lowell hurried over, "President Valentine."
Winston Valentine nodded, lifted his foot to go, and Vera Yves called him and then told Zoe Monroe and Miles Monroe, "Zoe, you and Miles head back to the hospital first, I’ll leave shortly."
Miles Monroe took one look at her before leaving with Zoe Monroe.
Vera Yves walked to Winston Valentine’s side, "Do you have time tomorrow morning?"
"No."
Vera Yves’ expression darkened, "Winston Valentine, since we’ve already decided to divorce, is there any point in dragging it out like this?"
Winston Valentine said indifferently, "As long as you agree to sell the villa to me, I’m available anytime."
Vera Yves felt a blockage in her heart; she didn’t want to give him the villa, especially since he wanted it because of Cecilia Vaughn.
"Why did you fight Miles?"
Winston Valentine wiped the corner of his lips, "He pounced like a mad dog."
"If it wasn’t something you said, Miles wouldn’t have hit you!"
Winston Valentine laughed mockingly, looking into her eyes, "He said you’ve loved me for many years, isn’t that laughable?"
Vera Yves clenched her hands tightly, "So in your eyes, me loving you is laughable?"
Winston Valentine’s smile froze at the corner of his mouth, he rubbed his forehead, "We’re getting divorced, is there any point in talking about this?"
"Winston Valentine, I will not give you the villa. If you have the ability, keep dragging it out." Vera Yves’ voice was cold, "You can wait, but I don’t think the child in Cecilia Vaughn’s belly can!"
Vera Yves turned to leave.
Watching her figure disappear into the night, Winston Valentine pulled out another cigarette, and only after finishing it did he seem to recover, stepping into the night as well.
Winston Valentine had the driver take him back to the villa.
The villa was not much different from when Vera Yves was here.
Winston Valentine looked at the wedding photo on the wall of the bedroom. Their wedding was rushed, with only a casual photo in wedding attire to inform guests of the bride and groom’s appearance.
Later, his grandmother said the marital home should look like a marital home, and had the photo printed and placed in the bedroom.
Winston Valentine lay on the bed and could faintly smell Vera Yves’ fragrance.
Closing his eyes, his mind flashed with some seductive scenes, her flushed face, fragmented sounds, as if everything was so real before his eyes.
Winston Valentine suddenly got up from the bed and escaped downstairs.
The phone rang, pulling Winston Valentine back to reality, and he answered.
"Winston, will you come with me to choose a house tomorrow?"
"Buy whichever one you like."
Cecilia Vaughn’s voice was soft, "The house we’re choosing is for our future, a place where you’ll live with me and our baby, you need to be involved."
Winston Valentine leaned back in his chair, his voice cold, "I don’t have time."
"Actually, I still prefer the villa grandma gave us. Winston, can you think of a way to get the villa from Vera Yves..."
"No."
Cecilia Vaughn gripped the phone tightly, "Winston, are you regretting this?"
Winston Valentine hung up the phone.
Cecilia Vaughn was so angry he hung up that she nearly threw her phone.
The phone rang again, and Cecilia Vaughn thought he called back, but before she could smile, her face darkened upon seeing the display.
Half an hour later, Cecilia Vaughn returned to the old residence and entered the study.
Old Mrs. Valentine sat in the chair and pushed a plane ticket to her, "If you want your mother to remain the Valentine Family’s matron, leave obediently tomorrow morning, and don’t return without my permission."
Cecilia Vaughn heard this and knelt on the ground with a "thump."
"Grandma, I can’t leave."
"I wasn’t asking for your opinion."
Cecilia Vaughn knelt beside Old Mrs. Valentine, "Grandma, I’m pregnant. It’s Winston’s child."
"What did you say?"
Cecilia Vaughn tearfully looked at her, "Grandma, I won’t fight with Vera Yves for anything. I can stay by Winston’s side namelessly and without status for a lifetime. Please, don’t make me leave him!"
Old Mrs. Valentine looked at Cecilia Vaughn’s tearful face, sighing, "You can’t rely on just your word that the child is Winston’s."
...
After spending another week in the hospital, Old Master Monroe was discharged and returned to the Monroe Family.
Vera Yves followed Mr. Yves and Mrs. Yves to buy some supplements to visit the Monroe Family. Before entering, she heard discussions from inside.
"I said Vera was capable! If it weren’t for Vera, grandfather might still be lying in the hospital!"
"Enough!" Matthew Monroe said in disdain, "Even without Vera, grandfather’s illness would have improved! Did you think the experts Uncle hired were just decorations? Just by a few of Vera’s medicines could grandfather’s life be saved? Impossible!"
