Chapter 138: Trial Of Water Part 2: My Allies’ Blades, The Guardian Emerges

Darius was looking at the others; he could feel their energies and the way they didn’t even have their usual look or presence.

If anything, Darius knew that he would be in for a fight, and if he was not careful, then it would be him taking down his own allies.

Theo and Michael attacked simultaneously. Darius pushed them back, trying to avoid their blows, but then it wasn’t going to be easy.

"How on earth am I going to take them down without landing a deadly blow on them?"

Our white-haired warrior was looking at his allies; there was no way for him to even do anything useful.

’I swear most times you forget that you are capable of far greater things than you give yourself credit for. You idiot!’

Azree roared; he sounded annoyed to see that Darius was on defense the whole time, not even trying to fight against his friends.

"Eh?!" Darius dodged the attacks, trying to get his balance and make sure that he wouldn’t get hit from nowhere.

"What do you mean by that?!" Darius didn’t know what he was going to think of what Azree was trying to tell him.

’You white-haired idiot! Inside you is one of the strongest magical weapons made in existence; you can save them without even touching them.’

Azree reminded Darius of Kurgons’ spells within him; there was nothing that he would find hard if he was going to be able to get them to stop attacking him.

"You’re right!"

Darius took his stand, looking at his comrades charging at him. He stretched out his left hand, and looking at them coming in at top speed, he was ready to put an end to them with no second thought.

He waited calmly till Theo was close enough; our young warrior leaped into the air, trying to avoid the hit. But before he would be able to step out of the way, the spear pierced his side.

Enduring the sharp pain, Darius placed his left hand on Theo’s face, trying to use his magic on the warrior, but before he could do anything, a sharp gust of wind went through the spear, opening the wound more.

"Arghhh!"

Darius cried in pain trying to push Theo back, but then Raya stabbed him on the side with her blade.

He had both of them close to him then; he didn’t do anything but look around, waiting for the right time to take them down.

He turned to see Michael almost close to them; he didn’t want to hold anything back when he was trying to see if they would all get close.

’Darius, they will kill you if you don’t—’ Azree tried to get Darius to leave them, but it didn’t seem like he was going to.

"Their blades can’t kill me!" Darius cut him off; it was the first time he had done something like that.

He turned to see Michael in front of him; his gauntlets were charged. Darius smiled, looking at them; he wasn’t going to move.

"They aren’t themselves now, and I know that there is no way they would want to attack me. So I will say it again."

Darius gritted his teeth; he was looking at them. "Their attacks can’t kill me!"

Michael landed a blow on Darius, pushing the young warrior back, but Darius didn’t fall. He stood his ground; he didn’t let anything push him down or even make him believe that he would lose to them.

Looking around, he could see that they were all there, and he wasn’t going to be losing to them. Suddenly a jade dome covered the four of them; Darius had a smirk on his face.

"Azoul Ne Atari!"

He yelled, almost like time stopped and he had managed to hold the three at a spot, and he began reversing the guardian’s spell on his friends.

The three of them didn’t move; they stood there as the spell began to wear off and they got back control of their bodies.

Darius smiled as he took steps back; the wounds he had received were slowly healing.

[Notice! Regeneration Activated!]

Darius stood there looking at his friends; they were regaining their senses. He didn’t know if he was going to be happy or sad. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"Thank goodness..."

He sat back on the floor, looking at them. Breathing heavily as he was looking up, he could feel the presence of the guardian and the temple close by.

’You always take risks with your life. you think that there is going to be something you will be able to do when you’re dead?’

Azree was scolding Darius for his recklessness; he didn’t even want to hear what the young warrior had to say in his defense or anything, knowing that there was nothing that would come out of it.

Darius got up; he knew that there was no way for them to join him immediately. Looking ahead, he could still feel the guardian’s presence, and he was sure that there was nothing going to come out of him waiting.

He unsheathed Ve’xa and the red cobra blade, heading for the guardian.

"They can rest and join in later; for now I have to take down that bastard responsible for their pain!"

Darius didn’t even look back; his eyes were glowing bright red as he slowly walked down to look for the guardian. With each step he took, he could feel it, the eerie magic that had messed with his family.

The floor began to disappear as he stepped into water, a pond at the middle of the dungeon. And then at the center of the pond, it was the temple of the Dragon King of Water.

Darius stopped there, looking up with his eyes dark red as if he was in pure rage.

"Ahhh, so you’re the one who cut my connection to those slaves." A voice rang out from the waters; it sounded melodious as the entire place seemed to be shaking, and it felt rather odd.

"So you must be the Child of Chaos. Lady Acier has been telling me to be on alert and make your life miserable."

The pond went silent—not even a splash—but then a ripple, wide and unnatural, spread outward in a perfect symmetry. And from the center, close to the temple doors, she began to rise.

Darius stood there watching as he saw her hair emerge first, long and dark as it illuminated light from the dungeon opening. His eyes fixed on the beast emerging from the depths of the waters, he was ready to put an end to him and make sure that there was nothing going to hold him back.

"How annoying you are!" Aya mocked our young warrior. She emerged from the pond, standing at over 15 ft tall; eight long tentacles could be seen behind her. One of her arms hardened like the skin of a crustacean, and her body was elegantly shaped like that of a sea goddess.

"You made the Great Lady Thalryia put us on high alert, and you were only a mere human who deserves nothing but death!" Aya glared at Darius. He was looking at the being in front of her, and there was nothing on his mind.

"So you are saying that you are here to put me down?" Darius placed the red cobra blade on the floor; he was still furious. "You know, I was faced with the guardians of the Temple of Fire. And you want to know what I thought?"

Aya was looking at Darius; the guardian didn’t know what she was about to hear.

"So what does that have to do with all this?"

Darius smirked as he pointed his blade at Aya, his eyes locked on like a predator.

"You’re twice as ugly, and I don’t think you have any idea how pissed I am."

Aya was ticked off; she was looking at the human in front of her, and there was only one thing on her mind.

"You dare insult me?!"

She lifted one of her arms; suddenly the air around the arm began distorting.

Darius knew it wasn’t something good; bracing himself, he got ready for the attack.

"Implosion of Depths!"

Aya yelled as she fired what seemed to be a bullet made out of pure vapor. It moved at speeds close to that of light and slightly above sound.

Darius carefully dodged, but the attack grazed him a bit; it destroyed the pillars behind him. Darius fell to the floor, and he looked at the damage, and a smile came on his face.

"Woah, that is some power!" He sprung up, looking at the guardian in front of him. He knew that she wasn’t like the Salamandrian guards he had faced when he was on the trial of fire, and she was not going to be taking it easy on him.

[Notice! Aya used Implosion of Depths—the move of the pistol shrimp—but applied it this way: if the bullet touches a living being who has traces of mana within. The being would implode from the inside out.

Darius smiled as he got up, his eyes locked on the guardian. His hands gripping his blades with a smile that made Darius look more like a villain.

"I am going to enjoy eating your core!"
