Chapter 127: Strain

Darius woke up, his head and entire body aching from the intense battle he had had with Slav. The last thing he could remember was a discussion that ended with Slav telling him that he was one of the main keys.

"Ow, my head..."

He felt his head; it was a migraine the size of a coconut. He didn’t know how he was going to be able to endure that amount of pain that early in the morning.

’You are different this morning; I take it you had one heck of a night.’

Azree chimed in, and Darius managed to get out of bed.

"Don’t ask Azree; I didn’t even have a chance to do anything. For the first half, I was being treated like a ragdoll, and Slav seemed to be enjoying it."

’Hmm, but it also feels like you got a bit stronger...’

Azree pointed out Darius didn’t even notice it. Looking around the room, he remembered that Theo had followed him home and was meant to be in the room with him.

"Where in the world did he go?"

Darius didn’t notice anything that would lead him to Theo; he was still trying to see if he would get anything out of all his time with Slav.

"I don’t feel different; I feel the same and this isn’t funny... I need to..."

Suddenly a sharp ringing sound took over Darius’s ears; the strange thing was that it was only him that could hear it. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"What in the world is all this?!" Darius cowered in pain; he didn’t know where the sound was coming from or why it was so painful.

[Kurgons’ Access To Slav’s scrolls has been established!]

[Spells of The Dragon Sage Activated!!]

Darius was vibrating like there was something growing there; he was not going to be able to contain it, and it was trying to pull out of his body.

"What on earth is this?!" Darius whimpered in pain; he was not sure, but there was something else going on.

’Darius, I think the result of your training is coming by and from the looks of it, you are in for something huge.’

Azree added, Darius was holding his head as he looked up. The strange thing was that he could see signs and symbols in the room.

They were not normal; all of them were like scribbles from ancient texts, but there was no way for him to understand what he was seeing.

[Spells Converted....]

Darius was looking at the words on the wall, and he was trying to understand what he was looking at.

Looking at it, he went closer to see what he would pick up from it; there wasn’t much, but slowly the words began gaining meaning in the eyes of our young warrior.

"The Abyss Cries, and its offspring beg for chaos; the powers within cannot be gained. Yet the key to the forgotten ones shakes."

Darius was looking at the wall; he was even more confused than he would be on a normal day.

"Forgotten ones?"

Darius was looking at the texts; it was the only thing there, and funny enough, he could read it now.

"Who in the world are the forgotten ones?"

He wondered why he had seen something like that on the wall. But then realizing that there was a chance that he would be seeing more things there.

’You got something else from all that. I can’t say I am surprised you pull a lot of things these days.’ Azree quipped, Our young warrior had been getting stronger by the day, and it was almost like he was beginning to adapt to the new levels of power.

"I don’t know how it happens; it just does, and I am the one who would feel the pain of it later." Darius was looking at the texts, still trying to understand who the forgotten ones were spoken about in the texts.

’I would tell you to forget about the beings mentioned in the text; you need to make sure that you will be in top shape if another threat decides to show up.’

Azree added that he was not trying to tell Darius to give up, but he was only trying to make sure that Darius would see that nothing was going to save him if something was coming their way.

’Your powers are growing and your enemies would be getting stronger too, so I would tell you that the only thing you should be worried about is the fact that there would be something else lurking around for you.’

"I know, I know. I have to get stronger and make sure that there is nothing going to come my way to kill or stop me."

Darius was about to get up when his body felt all light and wobbly to him; he was having a hard time staying on his feet.

’Another thing you should work on is your body; you are human and if you keep forgetting that, then you would eventually die from your own strength.’

Darius was shaky; he didn’t know what he would call it, but it felt draining, and he was about to fall again.

"What in the world is happening to me?" Our young warrior was trying to stay on his feet; it was harder than he thought it would be.

’You need to make sure that before you reach a new level of power, your body is ready for it. If not, you will be facing the backlash of the powers you have. there has to be something, we would be able to find to help you pass through it.’

Azree didn’t want to let him worry about the power he was getting; he didn’t know what his fate would be.

"I hope we find something like that soon." Darius looked up; he felt a tingling sensation on his left arm.

Darius noticed that his left arm was glowing; he saw the tattoo spreading a bit. The dragon grew longer, and it got a crimson shade to it; there was no denying it.

He had gotten stronger, but the powers he gained were still a bit of a mystery to him.

"I will check the stats board later," He rubbed his head as he got up to leave the room. The pain from the migraine was still there; he needed to get water or maybe any other thing to help calm his throbbing skull.

’Your powers are getting stronger, child; take it easy on yourself and please don’t die.’

Azree had a worried tone; it was not going to be easy for anyone if Darius had a burnout mid-battle. It was not something any of them would wish for, and it was not going to be a fate he would wish on him.

"I am not going to die, Azree. I am going to get through it and make sure that I will win no matter what." Darius smiled; he was not going to let Azree or anyone worry.

’Funny you should think I am worried. I am a voice in your head, and you think I would be worried? This is not going to be a problem that you will not be able to solve.’

"Hehe, you say that, but I know you are worried about me, and there is no way for you to even think of denying it." Darius was smiling; he was not trying to make him worried or anything, but then it was not clear what would happen if he wasn’t careful.

’I will have to work harder to make sure that there is no way for my body to get strained further.’ He looked at his hands, and he could see the scars from all of his many fights.

’I just need to know how I am going to be able to do that without worrying about what was going to come next.’

Trying his best to shake the thought off, he looked and began walking out of the room. It was not easy, but he would need to keep his mind off it.

Opening the door, he stepped out to the living room. He saw Theo there with Lena, and it looked like he was helping her with a puzzle.

He was looking at them, standing silently as both of them were having fun.

"Big brother Theo, how long are you going to be staying with us?"

Lena was solving the puzzle, and Theo was helping her with the pieces.

"As long as Darius wants me to stay, I will be happy to visit you every now and then."

Theo smiled. Darius was still watching them solve the puzzle, and he was moved for some reason. It was almost like he had seen something that would keep him at peace.

"Big brother Theo?" Lena called out; she was looking at Theo.

"Yes, Lena?" Theo turned to look at her; he was trying to see what made her call him like that.

"Please, take care of Darius when you go on raids." She muttered calmly; she was not looking at Theo.

"I know he is strong, but I don’t want anything to take my big brother from me. I know he will take care of you, so I want you to take care of him as well."

Darius stood there, his legs shaking as tears slowly filled his eyes.

Theo smiled, patting Lena on the head. He gave her a thumbs-up.

"Don’t worry, I will take care of him!"
