Last Wizard King's SSS-Level Magic system in Modern World-Chapter 117: You are a Coward- Part 2
Chapter 117: 117: You are a Coward- Part 2
Liam’s words hit the leader hard, and she stopped struggling. She realized that the person in front of her was not a fool who would fall for her words and let her go.
She did not have many choices left, so she made the one that would give her the highest chance of survival.
The leader of the traffickers decided to ask Liam what he wanted in order to let them all go.
"What do you want from us, kid? Since you captured us all alive and are keeping us alive, I am sure there is something we can give you that will make you let us go. So, name your price, and we will get it for you. You might not know it, but I am a big figure in the underworld."
The leader did not mean to brag, but her words came across as bragging anyway. She was letting Liam know that she was a capable person.
But Liam’s unwavering eyes made her feel as if she was being looked through.
"Ah, is that so? So you are a big shot in the underworld? That makes things easier for me since I was looking for a way to get into that business. You will help me out with it, right?"
Liam asked, and the leader quickly nodded.
"I will! I will do just as you want me to. But first, you need to let us all go."
The leader asked Liam, expecting her binds to come off at once. She waited to grab her chance for a counterattack, but Liam did not do as she expected.
Instead of giving her full freedom, Liam only allowed the leader enough movement in her hand. And even that was restricted.
The leader made a betrayed face, and Liam was quick to scoff at her.
"What? Did you think I would allow you complete freedom just because you said you would serve me? Are you still underestimating me? I am not going to let you go until you sign a magical contract with me. Here, sign using your magic, and we can call it a day."
Liam put the contract in front of the leader and gave her a clear choice.
The leader wanted to protest, but one look at Liam’s eyes told her that it would be useless. She had been caught by him with no way out.
’Tsk, looks like there is nothing I can do about it. Fuck! How did I fall for such a trick?’
The woman gritted her teeth, but she had no choice except to reach out and sign the paper in front of her.
As soon as that was done, Liam rolled the parchment and burned it. Now that the contract had served its purpose, he no longer needed to keep it around.
"Hey, what are you doing? Why did you burn that contract? What if we need to modify it in the future?"
The trafficker asked in an annoyed voice, but Liam just tilted his head in confusion.
"If that time comes, then we will form a new one. You do not need to worry about it. Now, shall we continue from where we left off? Tell me all you know about this dungeon and what you are doing here. Depending on your answer, I may or may not issue you new orders."
Liam’s words made the woman in front of him grit her teeth. But she calmed herself down forcefully and decided to face Liam, her new master, with grace.
"My name is Richa Parker, and as you can tell, I was stationed as the head of the traffickers. Our mission was to get contractable pets and secure them for the underground market. And before you ask, I cannot tell you any more. I am bound by a contract that prevents me from saying anything further."
Richa pointed out, and Liam held back his disappointment while sighing.
Liam felt disappointment settle deep in his chest at Richa’s words, but he also knew there was nothing more he could do.
If the magical contract could not force her to speak about the details, then no amount of pressure or persuasion would work either.
He hated hitting a dead end, but Liam was also practical. He acknowledged Richa’s situation with a nod, and she let out a sigh of relief.
"Fine. I won’t push you for more details. But that doesn’t mean I don’t expect you to be useful to me in another way. As long as you do your job, I won’t have anything to complain about." freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
Liam said with an almost disappointed tone in his voice.
Richa straightened, her sharp eyes narrowing at him.
"And what exactly do you expect me to do now? I am bound by the contract to serve you."
Liam took a moment to think, carefully considering his next move. He wasn’t about to let an asset like Richa go to waste. She had connections, experience, and an understanding of the underground world that he lacked.
"I want you to set up a fresh information-gathering network for me. A group that operates under my command, feeding me intel from the underworld. You will be the public face while I control it from the shadows."
Liam finally said.
Richa’s eyes widened in surprise. She had been expecting something different—maybe an order to bring him more magical beasts or some kind of spy mission.
"You want me to form an intelligence network? For you?"
Liam smirked.
"That’s right. Set it up under the name ’Nico Vale.’ Do not look into that name further. Just build the network and report back to me when it’s done."
Richa’s brows furrowed slightly at the mention of that name. She had never heard of a ’Nico Vale’ before, and that only made her more suspicious.
Still, the contract bound her, so she nodded.
"Fine. I’ll set up your network. But don’t expect miracles overnight."
Liam waved her off.
"I wouldn’t have asked if I thought you were incompetent. Just get it done."
