Keyboard Immortal-Chapter 2813: The Universal Deities’ Reactions
The gigantic red eyes flickered with hesitation. It took some time before the Deity of Death finally made up his mind. “You must truly love those women.”
“Why do you say that?”
“No one else in the Myriad Worlds could reject the allure of a universal deity’s authority and instead request that it be split into pieces just to save a few women,” the Deity of Death replied with a sigh.
“This has nothing to do with love. I promised them that we'd overcome the trial together, and they put their utmost trust in me. I don’t want to break my promise,” Zu An replied calmly.
Of course, the threat posed by other universal deities also played a huge part, or else he couldn’t have withstood the temptation so easily.
“Forget it. You’re the only promising candidate I've met in so many years. Maybe you’re right,” the Deity of Death said. The gigantic red eyes split into four rays of white light, with the biggest ray flowing into Zu An’s body.
Zu An’s body shuddered. He was gripped by an unprecedented sensation that was far more profound than what he'd felt when he obtained the Cultivation World’s World Law Beacon. It felt as if he had the Myriad Worlds in his grasp, but this authority was obscured by a veil.
It must be because my piece of Death’s authority is incomplete.
The remaining three rays of white light descended to other areas. Moments later, Firework, Tingxue, and Isabella appeared before his eyes. They experienced similar sensations as well.
Firework stared intently at Zu An with a furiously beating heart that refused to calm down. After everything she'd been through, she had lost all her trust in others . It was only because she knew that it was nigh impossible for her to survive the Deity of Death’s trial, and that Zu An had proven himself to be trustworthy so far, that she'd chosen to make an exception and trust him this once.
That said, she'd already been prepared to be backstabbed once more. Zu An had promised to save all of them, but she was skeptical about it.
She had gained some grasp of Zu An’s character by this point. If there were no competing interests at stake, Zu An could still choose to save all of them. But the same couldn't be said if there were competing interests.
For instance, if only one of them could survive this trial, she hadn't thought Zu An would give up his life to save the others.
Little had she expected Zu An to go this far just to score some chicks! He'd actually given up Death’s authority!
Other powerhouses wouldn’t have hesitated to massacre entire universes to obtain Death’s authority, but he'd chosen to share it with them!
Tingxue had a complicated expression as well. She'd already returned to being a Nebula envoy and had regained her usual impassiveness, but this was a universal deity’s authority they were talking about here...
That man fulfilled his promise to save all of us and even gave something this precious to me.
She recalled how they had lived together as a couple for the past few decades, and that left ripples in her heart, which should have long become still like an old well.
Isabella was nowhere as subtle as Tingxue. She excitedly dove over to embrace Zu An. “Big brother Zu, I knew you’d succeed!”
Zu An dotingly patted her head. “It's been tough on you, having to stay alone in Persia all those years.”
“It was lonely, but thinking about you gave me strength.” Isabella hugged Zu An’s arm while radiating a blissful smile. She didn't mention Death’s authority, but there was no way the Acadias’ big miss wouldn’t know about its value.
Suddenly, the world shook. The winding skull staircase began to crumble. The skulls shrieked miserably as they desperately tried to reassemble the staircase, but they still dropped to the ground and shattered into dust.
The gigantic red eyes in the sky vanished. The Deity of Death’s aura could no longer be felt. Everyone present understood that the Deity of Death was gone for good.
The group was transported back to the forbidden land’s earth vein.
Zu An was about to speak when a divine light suddenly flashed, and he found himself transported into a special space. Sensing a familiar aura, he hurriedly bowed. “Paying respect to the exalted Deity of Chaos and Enigma.”
Countless stars in the sky twinkled as if depicting the Deity of Chaos and Enigma’s expression. “You have done well this time. Your book, ‘The Master Player’, has been written to my liking. The world setting and timeline are beautifully chaotic. But don’t you think you’re being too greedy, trying to please all the universal deities?”
Zu An’s heart skipped a beat. He hurriedly said, “I’m overwhelmed by your magnanimity in protecting someone as humble as me. I’d have been reduced to nothing otherwise.”
“You need not put yourself down. Your unique take has pleased quite a few of them. At least the Deity of Bliss and Desire and Deity of Reproduction are happy with you. However, if the Deity of Love and Beauty were still around, they would have smashed your head in. You made so many beautiful women follow the same man.”
Zu An smiled sheepishly in response. Looks like I buttered her up the wrong way.
“The others can’t be bothered. How can the shallow schemes of your book’s characters catch the interest of the Deity of Knowledge? It’s the same for the others, too.”
“What about the Deity of Annihilation?” Zu An asked. The Deity of Annihilation had supported the Mongols in this trial world, but Zu An had written the Mongols as antagonists who were defeated in the end. He'd offered the demise of countless countries as tribute to the other party, but that wouldn't necessarily be enough to placate them.
“They were infuriated, of course. They want to destroy you. Don’t worry, I stopped them.” The Deity of Chaos and Enigma suddenly changed her tone and asked, “But what surprised me is that Meng actually stood up for you as well. Can you tell me why?”
The question was asked in a nonchalant tone, but it made Zu An sweat profusely.
“I beg your pardon, exalted Deity of Chaos and Enigma. The Deity of Memory summoned me and conferred me as her envoy. I didn’t dare reject her.” Zu An didn’t hide anything, knowing that the other party could uncover the truth if she investigated it. It would be wiser to be honest to show his loyalty.
“Interesting. I’d have never expected a Time Scribe to become a Mirror Scribe as well.” The stars in the sky twinkled, as if reflecting Mi Li’s good mood, but she proceeded to calmly drop a dangerous question right after. “Who do you prefer between the two of us?”
Zu An instinctively sought to flatter Mi Li, but a thought popped into his mind, and he quickly changed his words. “You are both exalted entities whom I admire greatly, but a humble ant like me truly dares not comment about the universal deities.”
“You are a cunning one. Now that you possess half of Death’s authority, you aren’t an ant anymore.”
“I am first and foremost your envoy.”
“Hahaha! You are a Chaos and Enigma envoy, but you are also a Memory envoy. On top of that, you possess Death’s authority. What remarkable chaos this is. You’re indeed suited for my path. Fine, I shan’t make things hard for you.” 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
The countless stars in the sky vanished. Mi Li had left.
Zu An barely managed to breathe a sigh of relief when his surroundings morphed once more. This time, he was transported into a peculiar space filled with waterfalls of numbers. Taking a closer look, the flowing numbers were unusual, resembling a combination of 0s and 1s, yet not exactly so either.
It was the Deity of Memory!
