Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1525: Of Fuzzy Memories and Fiery Limbs
Hearing Logos and Pathos freak out over this revelation was weird, to Zhen Liu at least.
Haven’t these two said that [Chaos] was powerful enough to substitute for a lot of stuff that aether could do? Why the hell would using it for teleportation be considered weird?
<What kind of teleportation? This is important. >
=Was there a smell in the air? A strange feeling? Details, stallion, details. =
’Ah... okay, that’s why,’ Zhen Liu thought to himself as he realized the reason for the curators’ exclamation. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Zhen Liu had recalled that his method of coming and going from the [Library of Nowhere] wasn’t exactly unique, but that every kaijin lord prior to him had their own methods anyways.
The Invulnerable Storm Queen appeared and disappeared in giant pillars of water, the Damned Drunkard was accompanied by the flames of the underworld, and the Rainbowsmith appeared by some giant rainbow bridge-style thing.
As such, determining Buzza’s method of teleportation would help to identify the Kaijin Lord who made him, which in turn would be a great way of identifying Buzza’s true identity.
Unfortunately, the Gallop Brother’s information on this identity-revealing trait was...spotty at best. Well, to be more precise, Pegasoar’s information on the matter was spotty at best.
At the time of the coming and going of this weird caravan with Roaring Tide traits, only Pegasoar was available to possibly spy on them. Railhorn had been busy helping out with the architecture of the mine, while Depth Strider was dealing with a wild aether beast that had tried to attack.
[To be honest... I’m not sure how to describe how they disappeared,] Pegasoar admitted as he racked his horse-bird-plane brain for the memory. [All I recall was that they rubbed my senses the wrong way, I thought it was weird that none of the zakos were willing to hide on their carts, and I figured I might as well tail them for a bit. I followed them for about ten minutes and then...static.]
<=Static?=>
’Wait...like...television static?’ Zhen Liu suggested.
[Yeah, like that!] Pegasoar nodded. [They got all weird and fuzzy like television static. Granted, I never seen one and I’m relying on the provided knowledge from when you created me and my brothers.]
[Wait...have we ever thought about bringing a television into the mines?] Railhorn suggested to Depth Strider.
[Veto,] Depth Strider immediately rejected as he shook his head. [I’d rather keep that level of influence at a minimum.]
[Fair enough.]
’Well, if that’s all you can tell us for now, there’s nothing else to be done,’ Zhen Liu stated in mild resignation. ’For now, keep an eye out for those people I gave you information on, or at least people related to them. I’ll contact you guys again if we need anything else.’
[Aye, War Chief.]
...Now back to Zhen Liu at the library...
<=Static...=> Logos and Pathos repeated as they floated in tandem with one another. After Pegasoar had shared his information with them, the curators began to parse through every single piece of information they had access to in regard to their previous Kaijin Lords. While it appeared as if they weren’t doing anything, one would just need to look into their eyes to see that millions of words were flashing through them at a rapid pace.
Zhen Liu had thought this search would only take a moment, but something about the curators felt different this time around. In a way, he felt as if he was staring at a pair of mad geniuses in the process of having a breakthrough.
’Hmmm. I probably shouldn’t disturb them,’ Zhen Liu eventually concluded after staring at the curators for a moment longer. ’Besides, I have other shit to do still.’
Now that he had tasked the Gallop Brothers and the Neo Storm Knights with keeping an eye out for his old enemies, Zhen Liu could now worry about the things on his docket with a clearer head.
For example, he needed to help the recently displaced Axer settle into his new temporary abode.
’I hope he finds the place to his liking,’ Zhen Liu idly wondered as he left the curators’ study and returned to the main library.
...One brisk walk later...
"Hey guys, how are you adjusting to the...what the fuck?"
When Zhen Liu returned to the main portion of the library, he expected to see his friends, family, and lovers to be off in their little groups, discussing their own plans and what books they were reading with one another. He was half right in that regard, since he could see that all of the aforementioned were holding their own books from the shelves, but he was also wrong because he could see that their focus wasn’t on the literature but on one person in particular: Axer.
The displaced metalcrafter didn’t immediately haul himself into the library’s forge as Zhen Liu expected. Rather, the man had claimed a table, gathered enough books to match the height and width of a fully grown elephant, and appeared to be reading through all of them. Peeking at the spines of the books, Zhen Liu could see that Axer had secured himself as many manuals pertaining to smithing as he could handle.
Staring at the pile, Zhen Liu couldn’t help but be impressed by the sight. He was just about to saunter over to where his fiancées were sitting, hoping to spend some more time without the presence of annoying enemies nearby, but stopped when he realized that there was something going on with his body...again.
’Huh... now that’s an impressive pile of books... wait... why does my hand feel like its on fire?’
[Immensely powerful desire detected, consolidating core, now.]
’Oh...that’s new...’
Up until this point, Zhen Liu had condensed all manners of [Cores] that either fucked with his mind in some capacity or turned into a sudden heavy load in his hand, like a literal ton had just manifested out of nowhere. But now, for the first time in a while, the effects had manifested a little differently.
Instead of getting heavier, his hand carrying the [Chaos Body Forge] seal was feeling significantly hotter and hotter by the second. Not only that, but the usual glowing effect was replaced by a literal manifestation of flames.
Part of Zhen Liu wanted to scream in surprise, while another part of him was just incredibly curious as to why this was happening in the first place.
Funnily enough though, someone else was going to be screaming in surprise before him.
While Zhen Liu was still standing and staring at his burning hand, unsure of what to do next, Bellona had heard his thoughts and had briefly glanced in his direction to see that her fiancé’s hand was on fire.
She was just about to yelp in surprise but instead opted to simply tap the shoulders of both Jinju Ren and Alicia so that they could see what was going on too and respond appropriately.
Needless to say, both of their eyes went wide for a few moments before realizing that this was probably another case of Kaijin Lord weirdness. Especially since they both realized that they were powerful aether warriors and something like this shouldn’t be shocking to them... unless waves of [Chaos] were making their heads act all screwy.
As such, they opted to go with the more...diplomatic approach to the situation.
"Xiao Liu...why is your hand on fire?"
"Honestly, I don’t know," Zhen Liu fully admitted. "I think it has to do with Axer there though."
"Ah."
Zhen Liu hadn’t given them the full rundown on precisely what the criteria for making Kaijin cores were, but they could at least guess based on past moments involving themselves and those times he had attempted to hide his activities while on dates.
"Well...do you think it warrants us knocking Axer out of his revelry of information gathering or nah."
"Its... probably fine," Zhen Liu dismissed with a wave of his flaming hand. "But I get the feeling that whatever Kaijin born from this flame is going to be one for the history books...or I might just consume it myself to see what the fuck is going on here."
"Fair enough."
Having faith in Zhen Liu’s words, the girls turned their attention back towards Axer who had entered some kind of flow state when it came out his readings and was now flipping through multiple books at the same time.
Coincidentally, Zhen Lih could feel the core forming in his left hand becoming hotter and hotter by the second, until it suddenly stopped.
The next thing he knew, all the flames surrounding his hand suddenly converged to the center to form a flaming sphere.
|Core consolidation completed. The [Relentless Core of the Blacksmith’s Pursuit of Perfection] has been created. Please use when the time is right.|
’And the blurb has changed...again, sure why not.’
Zhen Liu found it weird that the voice in his head told him to wait until the right time to use this [Core], but figured it had to do with the fact that this [Core] had a lot more weight attached to it.
’And I can’t even...wait a minute...’
As Zhen Liu was about to make his usual gripe, he had a sudden realization.
’Whose voice is that?’
