He showed her the room that he had prepared for her when he bought this apartment.
"I tried to bring anything you might need." Jacob said, looking around the room.
Walking towards the bed, Petal sat down, Feeling exhausted.
"It’s good." She said signaling. Right she wasn’t in the mind to think about such things.
...
Ethan sat in front of the fireplace, smoking a cigarette, thinking about what happened tonight. PetaI, Will thinks of him as an enemy now just like he thought of her before. He knew that this moment was coming, But he chose to ignore it because deep down in his heart, He didn’t want her to find out.
Blowing the smoke off, He tapped on the cigarette letting the ashes fall on the black carpet. Ethan didn’t sleep that night. He stayed awake until the morning, and when the morning came, He left the house going somewhere he needed to be at.
...
When Petal opened her eyes, It was five in the morning. She barely had enough sleep last night as she spent the night crying. Getting up from the bed, She put her shoes on and stepped out of the room.
8The apartment was quiet and Jacob seems to be still sleeping. Picking up the car keys that were on the table near the door, She left the apartment.
Petal drove towards the cemetery, Where her mother was buried. Stepping out of the car, She walked towards her mother’s grave. PetaI felt at ease a little to see that her so-called father, Wasn’t buried beside her mother anymore. He doesn’t deserve to be close to her, It was enough that she had to put up with him in her life.
Lowering herself, She placed her hand on the gravestone as if she was touching her mother. Her heart was full of sadness and hatred, She never had felt like this before, With her mother gone Petal felt herself turning cold from the inside, She had never felt this way before. All she wants to do now is revenge for her mother’s death.
A drop of rain fell on her hand followed by another and another Until the rain became heavy washing everything with it. PetaI looked up and the heavy rainwater forced her to close her eyes.
Not far from her, A black car was parked in front of the cemetery. Opening the car door, Ethan walked towards her not bothered by the heavy rain that was drenching his clothes.
Regardless of what she thinks of him right now, He wanted to see her. To see the hatred in her eyes, Maybe it could help him to try and forget her.
Ethan entered the cemetery, Searching for her, He had seen her when she entered, He came here before her. Seeing her sitting in front of her mother’s grave, He walked towards her.
The rain became heavier, Covering everything with its pure water. PetaI’s clothes were soaked with water but she did not bother to even take shelter from the rain.
"I love you, and I will always remember you." Petal signaled to her mother’s grave, Promising her.
She stood up and was about to leave but she stopped when she saw someone coming towards her, Ethan. Her body started to shiver from the cold rain but she stood there waiting for him.
Ethan stood in front of her with it saying nothing, He put the flowers in his hand on her mother’s grave and turned to look at her.
"My condolences, I’m sorry for your loss." Ethan said, looking at her.
Ethan noticed how soaked with the rainwater, She was going to catch a cold if she didn’t change.
Petal stared at him with cold eyes before she walked past him, walking towards her car. Ethan didn’t stop, He only turned around to look at her figure that started to disappear under the heavy rain.
He thought that seeing her would help, But it only made things worse.
...
Entering the apartment, PetaI placed the keys on the table.
"You should go and change your clothes?" Jacob said, looking at her drenched clothes.
Nodding her head, PetaI headed towards the bathroom. She needed to take a warm bath. Filling the bathtub with warm water, She turned the faucet off before she started to take off her clothes and stepped inside the bathtub and let out a sigh, feeling the warm water relaxing her body.
Resting her head on the rim of the tub, PetaI closed her eyes. Thinking about her mother, Tears rolled down from her eyes only to disappear in the water.
...
Flashback.
The thirteen years old Petal, Shivered in cold holding into the blanket tightly hoping that it would provide her some warmth. Because of her weak body, She always gets sick easily.
Like tonight, She was down with the flu and her mother wasn’t here to take care of her. The maids gave her medicine and stayed with her, asking her if she needed something, But she wanted her mother.
Her whole body was in pain, It was unbearable. Petal tried to get up to see if her mother had come back, But she couldn’t move.
Downstairs, Olivia arrived at the mansion with Henry, She took off her coat and it to the maid and asked about Petal.
"My lady, She is in her room, Miss PetaI is sick with flu, We give her medicine. She was asking about you all the time." The maid replied.
"That child brought nothing but trouble." Henry sneered.
Olivia glared at her husband. She wanted nothing but to kill him right now.
Hearing this, Olivia quickly walked upstairs to her daughter’s room, Opening the door, She walked towards PetaI bed.
"OH my baby girl, I’m sorry that I left you." Olivia said as she cupped her daughter’s face.
Petal whose body was shivering held into her mother’s hand, As she looked at her with her teary eyes.
"Don’t cry, Mommy is right here with you, I will take care of you." Olivia signaling to her mother and the little girl nodded her head
Olivia stayed with Petal the whole night, Until morning.
...
It was a business party that her father had hosted. PetaI stood in the corner of the room, trying to stay away from the guests. She saw her mother talking with some of the guests smiling at them. Her mother turned to look at her and excused herself before she walked towards her.
"Did you eat?" Her mother asked, cupping her face.
Nodding her head, Petal continued sipping on her juice.
"Do you want to come with me?" Olivia asked and immediately saw the look of fear in her eyes. She turned to look behind her to see Henry, Her husband, Looking at Petal.
"Don’t look at him, just focus on me." Her mother said signaling.
Petal hugged her mother, hiding her face in her chest. She didn’t want to look at her father. That look on his face scares her.
Olivia patted her daughter, Noticing the way people were looking at her, Olivia felt angry, Her daughter wasn’t a monster, She was burned with a disability.
End of flashback.
...
Opening her eyes, PetaI wiped her tears with the back of her hand. Most of her memories were painful, Her childhood wasn’t the ideal one. But her having her mother in them was enough for her, She was all she had and now she has nothing.
After getting dressed, She came out of the bathroom. Looking around her, She didn’t find Jacob in the living room, So she walked towards the kitchen.
"Come, You need to eat, You haven’t eaten anything since yesterday." Jacob said, pulling the chair for her.
Sitting down on the chair, PetaI picked up the warm coffee cup and sipped from it.
"How do you feel?"She heard Jacob say.
Staring at him with a distant look in her eyes, She replied signaling. "Empty."
"Do you want to talk about it?" Jason asked her, holding her hand in his.
Petal chuckled dryly at his words.
"As if I can talk." She said looking around the kitchen.
Jacob sighed as he leaned back on his chair, He wished that he had told before now, But things were complicated and he needed to stay low.
"Did she suffer?" Petal asked signaling
Understanding what she meant, Jacob replied. "When I arrived there she was already gone."
Petal’s grip tightened on the cup, She only hoped that her mother didn’t suffer in her last moments.
"How did you know that my father did it?" She asked him.
"The Surveillance Cameras, I took most of the records with me." Jacob answered, noticing the look in Petal’s eyes. Something about her changed.
Both of them stayed silent, Jacob knows how much Olivia means to Petal, She was more than a mother to her and her loss will leave a big hole in her that she will try to find ways to fill, Ways that might cause her to lose herself along the way.
