Island God: Going From Level 1 To World Ruler-Chapter 105: Speech
Midas spoke at length about many matters. He understood that he had yet to gain the trust and admiration of these new subordinates, but he wasn’t going to let that affect his own demeanor toward them. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
He first spoke about the fruitfulness of joining his side. And those who were already under him nodded along with agreement.
After that, Midas spoke about himself for a few seconds, about his rise, his goals, and his plans.
By the end, he formed a pact with all trolls and goblins present.
Finally, Midas finished his speech with a message.
"Despite my promise of prosperity for those who live under me, such a gift can only be maintained through courage. What I mean by this is that when you decide to serve under me, all of you must have the courage to wage war. To fight!" Midas paused, "To die..." He said in a low tone.
A few gasps and groans murmured in the crowd.
Trolls and goblins shot skeptical glances at themselves.
"For the strong survive in order to protect not only the weak, but also what must be protected. The strong thrive so that they may protect their home. Their people. Their pride!" Midas said his words were much more uplifting.
The morale of the crowd seemed to rise at a quick pace.
"You all must be willing to contribute to any doom that may fall over my kingdom. Not because it is mine, and you are all forced to do what I say. No... You must contribute because you are helping to protect the sanctum that protects you all. My kingdom must never fall! Because mine is the only land that gives prosperity to all those under it... But to maintain such peace, one must be the most undoubted fighter!" His words rang like metal.
Those who heard his cries felt rejuvenated. They felt a sense of not only pride, but also patriotism for Midas’s kingdom! They all felt included, as if they were all equals.
"I want to fight!" Uranus roared from the back, his purple energy sword thrust into the air. He had tears of awe and joy flowing down his face.
’I-I am so... moved!’ Uranus cried inwardly, ’What a beautiful speech!’
"We will fight!" Other trolls began to join in.
"I will serve the sanctum!"
"We are the pillars!"
Gool smirked at the goblins below him. He could see that they wanted to raise their hands, eager with this newfound faith in Midas.
Gool pumped his fist into the air, "We, as the goblin species, will do our best to help!" His words echoed.
"Yeah!" The goblins immediately followed.
"We will do what we can!"
"For our leader!"
"To protect our home!"
Gool didn’t just give the goblins a voice, but also a reason to speak up. He understood that, naturally, small goblins would be fearful to speak with courage about their ability to excel in war.
However, the wording he used made it possible for the goblins to join in as well, since he said, ’Do our best,’ which included much more than just fighting.
Again, Yemo was amazed to hear this. He understood that Gool had extra intentions behind his words when leading the goblins.
’He truly understands them...’ Yemo thought inwardly, Gool held with great admiration in his heart.
"Hahaha!" Midas’s laugh broke through the noise, capturing everyone’s attention once again. "Great! I am glad to hear it, my folk!" He shouted, looking down at his elders.
"Gool, and Yemo." Midas said, "You two have done a great job. I could not have expected any better." He said with a warm smile.
Gool felt a rush of energy go to his head. Midas’s praise made him feel like a child. It made his stomach have butterflies, and his heart flutter!
If he were a dog, his tail would be wagging. However, the same could be said about Yemo!
"Thank you, my lord!" They both shouted in unison.
As they continued observing Midas with awe, his eyes traveled to the orc beside them.
"Dorhal... you are one of a kind. To be able to transport so many trolls here with ease after singlehandedly capturing them. You are a force of Star Island!" Midas said with genuine respect for the orc.
Dorhal looked up with amazement, his pupils flashing with light.
’I thought he was going to reprimand me!’ He thought for a split second.
"It is my honor to follow your word, my liege..." Dorhal deeply bowed with one hand over his stomach.
’Hmm...’ Midas thought, ’I have many more souls under my control now. I wonder how they rank in terms of power. Sure, I can just scan them, but I think putting them all up against each other for position will be the best bet. It will be simple, useful to see how such strong forces fight, and also entertaining.’ He smirked within.
’But first... what to do with all of these new goblins and trolls! Hmm... It’s all too confusing. Bzzrt will have me discussing important kingdom-building crap for hours!’ Midas dreaded within.
Then, he got an idea. He turned to Yemo.
"Yemo! I have a few matters to attend to. I will have you introduce our new members to my city. Uh... you will figure everything out, right?" Midas asked with a slight nervous chuckle.
"O-oh... of course, my lord!" Yemo shouted, "It would be my honor!" He bowed.
Midas chuckled, "Good..." He walked away from the scene. "Bzzrt! Gool! Follow me." He said, the two nodding with approval.
"Dorhal! You as well. Make sure to bring that big troll with purple markings as well..." Midas ordered.
"Understood, my liege!" Dorhal shouted back.
The five traveled three miles (5km) north, finding a clear and flat area.
Midas made Uranus, Gool, Dorhal, and Bzzrt line up side by side and faced them from a few bus lengths away.
"Listen up!" Midas shouted, his gaze sweeping through.
"Yes!" The four before him replied instantly.
