Invincible Snake Emperor-Chapter 152 - 150: Sinful Disciple
Dr. Snake, Chen Mo, started out as a Snake Catcher in Bai Town. After seeing so many innocent people die from venomous snakebites, he became a doctor specializing in snake injuries.
Now, as Dr. Snake, his lifelong ambition has been to practice medicine and save lives. Snakes can harm, but they can also heal.
It was like an invincible Treasure Sword: in the right hands, it could be used for heroic deeds, saving people from disaster. But in the hands of someone with a wicked heart, it would bring about a catastrophe.
Chen Mo had poured countless hours of effort into cultivating a one-of-a-kind Snake Species. He did it partly to save lives, but more importantly, to fulfill a promise he had made to an old friend long ago.
Now that this unique Snake Species was complete, it had become a killing machine.
Both his apprentice and this snake now filled him with bitter grief.
At that moment, Chen Mo let out a roar like a wounded lion. "Jiang Xingze! I was the one who saved your life! As your master, I gave you that life, and I can take it back! You've committed such an atrocious sin. If I don't deal with you, the heavens will! So don't you dare blame me for this!"
As he spoke, a murderous aura erupted from Chen Mo. A Silver Needle appeared in his hand, and his eyes shone with a cold light.
"Master, you've wanted to kill me for a long time, haven't you? Even if I hadn't done this, you wouldn't have let me live, would you?" Jiang Xingze laughed manically, though he was extremely wary of the Silver Needle in his master's hand. It could kill in a way that was Formless.
Suddenly, Jiang Xingze dodged behind the massive body of the Vampire Snake.
Chen Mo looked as if he had just heard the world's greatest joke. "If I wanted to kill you, why would I have saved you in the first place?"
Jiang Xingze immediately shot back, "It's precisely because you saved me! I drank the Vampire Snake's blood every day and grew closer and closer to it. You were afraid I'd steal your precious Snake Species!"
"Haha..."
Chen Mo laughed at his words. A terrifyingly dreadful aura erupted from his body, his hair whipping in an unfelt wind as his gaze hardened. "A Snake Species in my, Chen Mo's, possession? Who in this world could possibly take it from me? You may be my apprentice, but you still have a long, long way to go."
He could say with confidence that Jiang Xingze hadn't even learned half of his skills.
There's an old saying: 'Teach your apprentice everything, and the master will starve.' But some skills depend on Talent. They can't simply be taught.
Chen Mo was a Human Awakened. He was born with an unparalleled dominion over venomous snakes.
It was something an ordinary person could never hope to achieve.
"Master, the new generation is meant to surpass the old. Look at you. Can you still command the Vampire Snake?"
Jiang Xingze sneered. He, who once didn't even dare to breathe too loudly in Chen Mo's presence, now acted without a shred of fear.
Hm?
Chen Mo's brows furrowed tightly. He stared at the Vampire Snake's massive body, which radiated a cold, sinister aura, and roared, "You beast! Get over here, now!"
"ROAR—"
The Vampire Snake threw its head back and roared at Chen Mo, its body rising up, fierce and terrifying. All of its past docility was gone.
In fact, it looked like it wanted nothing more than to swallow him whole.
"Master, don't waste your breath. The Vampire Snake has already accepted me as its master. It's my pet now. Why would it ever listen to you?"
'No wonder he's so arrogant. He's already brought the Vampire Snake under his control.'
Suddenly, Chen Mo remembered something. "Did you feed the Snake Spirit I gave you to the Vampire Snake?"
Jiang Xingze let out a cackle. "A master is a master, I see. Nothing escapes your notice. That's right! I fed the Snake Spirit you gave me to the Vampire Snake. On top of that, we are now connected by blood—the same blood flows through our veins. It's only natural that it would recognize me as its master."
"Master, today is the day your apprentice 'graduates.' You should be happy for me," Jiang Xingze said smugly. 'From now on, the sky's the limit.'
'The master opens the door, but the student must walk the path alone.' Chen Mo shook his head and spoke gravely, "You can't control this Snake, Ze'Er. It's not too late to turn back. Even if you can control it for a while, what will you do when its power continues to grow?"
Living creatures have spirits, but they can also be cold-blooded. This is especially true for a ferocious Snake Species like this one. It's a ticking time bomb, ready to go off at any moment.
Jiang Xingze shouted insolently, "Master, don't you realize you're old? Back then, you couldn't control that Silver White Snake, and now you can't even control the Vampire Snake. You're washed up! The future belongs to my generation! Only in my hands can the Vampire Snake become the Snake King! I share the same blood as it—how could it possibly betray me?"
Chen Mo gazed with sorrow at his arrogant apprentice. He felt the sting of being cast aside after outliving his usefulness. This apprentice was beyond saving.
But Jiang Xingze only grew more brazen. "Master, for the sake of our past relationship, I'm leaving Shanye Group with the Vampire Snake. Don't try to stop me. Otherwise, don't blame your apprentice for being merciless."
"You truly are beyond redemption. In that case, I'll see you off myself."
The Silver Needle in Chen Mo's hand shot out, transforming into a streak of light aimed straight for Jiang Xingze's forehead.
'I have to finish him here, before this wicked apprentice can go out and harm others—and himself.'
"CLANG!"
The Silver Needle struck the Vampire Snake's fiery red scales and simply bounced off, failing to even leave a scratch.
The Vampire Snake now shielded Jiang Xingze, its pair of copper-bell-like Snake Gazes locked onto Chen Mo, brimming with bloodlust.
"You beast! Don't you forget who raised you into the unique Snake Species you are today!"
The Vampire Snake was Spiritual and Fierce. To it, Chen Mo was like its father's killer. 'It was this damned human who enslaved me, who locked me in this sunless cage.'
A thick, massive tail whistled through the air as it whipped toward Chen Mo, carrying the force of thousands of pounds.
BOOM!
The cage shook violently. But a man of Chen Mo's caliber could hardly be struck by a simple tail whip; he dodged it in an instant.
In that instant, a continuous whistling sound filled the air. It contained the power of a profound and mysterious Spell, one that should render any Snake Species that heard it immobile and in agony.
HSSS...
The Vampire Snake froze for a moment. Its copper-bell-like Snake Gazes blazed red, and a hoarse voice emanated from it: "Human... I will eat you."
'It's not working. The Vampire Snake has grown too fast. It's nothing like it was before. The Snake Race Spell has no effect on it.'
"Master, I told you you're old. Your tricks don't work anymore."
When Jiang Xingze first heard the whistling Spell, he'd worried the Vampire Snake might be subdued. But seeing it completely unaffected, he was overjoyed.
"Wicked apprentice! After I deal with this beast, I'm coming for your life!"
Betrayed by both his own apprentice and the Vampire Snake he raised, Chen Mo's face was a mask of fury.
'As long as I am here today, no one is leaving this cage.'
"Master, if you're going to be cruel, then don't blame me for being unjust! Vampire Snake, kill him! Eat him! I no longer have a master!"
"ROAR!"
The smell of blood filled the dim cage, where a slender, middle-aged man was locked in a life-or-death battle with a twenty-meter-long Giant Snake.
The sight was one of sublime tragedy! And of sublime beauty!
The Vampire Snake's power had far exceeded the expectations of Dr. Snake, Chen Mo. Gradually, he discovered that his once-omnipotent Snake Control techniques were now completely useless against this Giant Snake.
It roared, its savage, bloody maw gaping wide. Chen Mo could only retreat rapidly, completely unable to face it head-on.
