Chapter 1918: Chapter 1918: Immortal Realm or Hell?

At the last stage of the Path to Ascension stands a towering blue stone portal, shrouded in an inexplicable substance, preventing any clear view of the inside.

Ye Haochuan tentatively touched it, finding it to be as insubstantial as air.

With his mind fully prepared, he slowly stepped into the portal, curious to see what the so-called Immortal Realm truly looked like.

The portal presented no resistance, acting like an ordinary door, and he instantly crossed through.

"Huh?" Just after stepping through, Ye Haochuan was stunned by the sight before him.

Outside the portal was nothing but tall weeds, standing more than a person’s height, seemingly abandoned and desolate.

Really? Is this supposed to be the Immortal Realm?

Seeing this, Ye Haochuan couldn’t help but wonder if he had come to the wrong place.

He summoned his Spiritual Energy, preparing to rise into the sky for a better view of this world.

However, upon trying to release his Flying Sword, he found it completely immobile. It couldn’t even ascend on its own, let alone carry him into flight.

"What’s going on?" Ye Haochuan was puzzled and attempted once more, with the same result.

He tried jumping himself, knowing that back on Earth, with his current cultivation, a casual leap would reach at least ten or twenty meters. But here, he could only manage two meters, less than some professional athletes on Earth.

"Is the gravity stronger here?" Ye Haochuan sensed carefully, noting that aside from the weakening of his cultivation techniques and powers, he noticed no other anomalies.

If gravity had increased, the effort required to take a step would also increase, yet walking here didn’t feel any different.

It felt more like his cultivation had regressed, falling back to the Postnatal Realm.

Moreover, he discovered that in addition to Spiritual Energy, the air was filled with a considerable amount of Flower Energy.

"What a strange place!" A hint of caution arose in Ye Haochuan’s heart as he slowly proceeded forward.

Not long after, three people swiftly approached him.

The three, dressed in traditional Huaxia clothing resembling ancient Hanfu, looked elegant and striking. The one in grey spotted Ye Haochuan from afar and, along with the other two, quickly surrounded him.

Ye Haochuan’s heart jumped, wary of the trio, asking, "May I ask what your intentions are?"

He couldn’t help but feel tense; having just arrived in a new environment with no understanding of the situation, being surrounded like this was anything but calming.

Among the three, excluding the one in grey, the other two had aura similar to Ye Xian’s, likely in the Nascent Soul Late Stage. As for the grey-robed cultivator, he reminded Ye Haochuan of Hu Ji, presumably a master in the Immortal Transformation Realm.

Ye Haochuan had no idea if their capabilities were also restricted in this place, but even if they were, he could never match an Immortal Transformation Realm expert.

"Are you the one who came through that portal?" the grey-robed cultivator asked Ye Haochuan, eyeing the portal he emerged from, looking baffled.

Ye Haochuan couldn’t discern their intention behind this question, so he nodded slightly.

The other cultivator in black sneered, "Really came from there? Wasn’t it said that this portal had been abandoned for thousands of years?"

"Indeed, since I took this post, I’ve never seen anyone emerge from that portal!" the grey-robed cultivator agreed.

The black-robed cultivator suddenly chuckled, "Seems this portal is indeed broken, letting even someone so worthless through."

Worthless, my foot! With ones like you, I could handle ten alone!

Ye Haochuan thought defiantly to himself.

Nascent Soul Late Stage meant nothing special in his book anymore. Being called worthless by that grey-robed cultivator might be acceptable, but being deemed so by a Nascent Soul cultivator was something he could never accept.

Yet, while he felt indignant, Ye Haochuan was no fool to retort merely over a few words.

The circumstances were against him, and he chose to endure!

The grey-robed cultivator seemed uninterested in exchanging any further words with Ye Haochuan, responding irritably, "Take him back for Commander Jia to deal with, damn, this means a loss; this guy can’t even fetch a night’s drinking money."

What, they’re planning to sell me for money?

Ye Haochuan’s heart sank, realizing this so-called Immortal Realm was a backward slave society, where people could be casually captured and sold.

This was nothing like an Immortal Realm; it was practically Hell!

Instinctively, he wanted to resist, but quickly realized that facing the three, he had no chance to fight back.

He couldn’t exhibit his abilities here, couldn’t even fly, relying solely on his legs—how fast could he run?

Might as well see what they plan to do; being sold is better than being killed outright.

Ye Haochuan reluctantly resigned himself to not resisting.

Having made his decision, Ye Haochuan said nothing further and quietly followed the three forward.

After about two to three minutes, they finally emerged from the tall "grassland". Only then did Ye Haochuan realize that not all places here were so desolate.

He now saw that the area was not confined to that single stone portal he came through; across a space as large as five or six football fields, stood dozens of portals of similar size.

Unlike the portal he exited, surrounded by overgrown grass, the area surrounding these portals was meticulously groomed into beautiful lawns.

From the conversation among the three cultivators earlier, he learned that the desolation around his portal was due to it being untouched for thousands of years.

Ye Haochuan suddenly felt like he was arriving late to school, while everyone else came in luxury cars; he staggered in wearing worn-out straw shoes through the back door.

Thankfully, Ye Haochuan wasn’t one to crave comparison. Moreover, these people hadn’t treated him differently because of his "entrance".

Those exiting the stone portals experienced a brief bewilderment similar to his and were swiftly taken away.

As Ye Haochuan emerged, another newly arrived cultivator attempted resistance, only to be killed on the spot. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

"You brat really lack spirit, not even attempting a fight? We wouldn’t have wasted a trip!" The grey-robed cultivator, seemingly having witnessed the scene, spoke with a hint of envy.

Ye Haochuan’s mouth twitched, unsure how to respond.

Internally, he felt fortunate—glad he hadn’t made such a foolish move; otherwise, death would have come unknowingly.

It appeared this place was designated "to receive" those arriving via the Heavenly Road. Everyone was taken to a stone platform for some form of registration.

Ye Haochuan was escorted to the back of the queue.

He faintly heard a voice from the stone platform ahead, an elderly man glancing at the newcomers, recording something in a book, and casually declaring, "For one to break free from the mortal realm at this age, the aptitude is average; head to the West Mountain Mine and dig."

This statement immediately filled Ye Haochuan with a sense of foreboding.
