Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 464 - What are the odds?!
Chapter 464: Chapter 464 - What are the odds?!
I couldn’t help but sigh loudly in relief that I was able to escape that persistent man’s pursuit. When I saw his face, the first thing I remember was how chiseled his body was and how graceful he was when doing his sword dance that night I saw him for the first time. How could I have forgotten the things that happened after that in my reverie?!
When I saw how quick he followed me out of the tent, that was the only time I remembered that this guy had very sharp senses and that he ran after me, trying to find out who I am. He almost succeeded too which is an amazing feat for a human who is trying to catch a mystique who is running away from him.
I forcibly pushed my thoughts about the peculiar guy out of my mind since as I always said, "let those problems be handled by tomorrow’s me". I went straight to the bathroom to clean up my body from any possible scent from this man-filled place unless I want a repeat of Void’s reaction earlier.
After I made sure that I smell clean, I slipped under the sheets and snuggled next to Void. He immediately welcomed my presence with a tight hug. I kissed his forehead in return as he involuntary made a contented sigh while seemingly in a half asleep state.
I just felt tired from all the people I had to meet and all the areas I had to inspect so even a total foodie like me felt too lazy to eat today. It is a good thing that this body didn’t need to eat regularly to thrive. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
I thought that once I was hugging my husband, I could sleep soundly again but damn I was wrong. There was still that lingering discomfort from meeting the sword dancer here. I felt ambushed for some reason and I couldn’t help but complain to the gods that love to give me unwanted matchmaking services.
I will be staying in this camp for the next 2-3 weeks and I would surely meet that troublesome guy somewhere inside this camp. The only way that it would not happen is if he is working outside, dealing with skirmishes. Though that is the case, I would never wish for another skirmish to happen just to escape my current situation.
I simply closed my eyes to force myself to sleep and I guess it eventually worked sometime during the night. I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and in a good mood even if I had some worries last night.
As I tried to leave the bed, Void squirmed, whined and then hugged my waist so I couldn’t leave. I had to coax the guy to let me go so I could start my official first day at work. He reluctantly let me go and complained that I am not giving him enough attention. I chuckled at his little drama while he frowned at me.
I honestly told him that I will indeed be very busy for the next few weeks and I have no excuse for it. This is the job that I applied for and the least I could do is fulfill all my responsibilities.
He sighed and just nodded his head in understanding. He stared at me for a long time without saying anything. Eventually he sighed again and said, "I will need to go back to Aeterdumnox since we are moving to our new home soon. You better take me once everything is settled or I will never talk to you again."
I smiled at him and assured him that everything should proceed as planned. I told him that we just need to focus on finishing the tasks assigned to us so we have no worries when it is time for kust the two of us. The guy who was previously looking all grumpy suddenly looked away shyly.
I made sure to assist Void in teleporting back to Aeterdumnox safely. I also sent another message to Altair that the dark elf prince is back in their territory and should be ready for the move by tomorrow.
Altair, being his ever annoying self commented, "Just a day? He must not be that fun to be with in the bedroom, huh?"
I chose to ignore his snarky comment and just gave further instructions. Once that is out of the way, I started dressing up for work.
I have already discussed with General Delphis and Andreas how my typical work day would be. I will start my day with helping out with meal preparation at the dining facility. I will also do the same for lunch and dinner time.
Afterwards, I will spend my time at the military hospital taking care of the sick and the injured. I will also take the time to teach some medics who are willing to learn about herbs and their uses, first aid treatments, and basic alchemy. The more people who are knowledgeable about these topics, the higher the survival rate will be for the injured soldiers here in the camp even if I am no longer working here.
The rest of the afternoon will be spent with other tasks like helping out on the construction of the barracks and the recreational area. I also plan to go out of the camp and explore the surrounding areas to check for usable resources. Maybe, I could hunt some small animals for meat or even find some useful herbs and alchemy materials. I would also complete the mapping while I am at it.
I plan to follow this routine for the rest of my stay. In a sense, it actually saved me since it means I have no time to meet with anybody. It also focused my activities on internal affairs which is under General Delphis control. I came here as a volunteer doctor so I should not meddle with anything external under the other general.
With these tasks in mind, I cheerfully went out of my wagon. It is just that the first person I saw outside when I came out was the one person that I wanted to avoid.
