Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 463 - I Met Her Again
Chapter 463: Chapter 463 - I Met Her Again
General Caius Astrantia’s POV
After checking the incoming wagon, I returned to my tent for my much needed sleep. Whenever there is a bit of a downtime between skirmishes, I always make it a point to eat well and sleep as much as I could. Who knows how long the next skirmishes will last?
After telling everybody that there was nothing to worry about, I went back to continue my well-deserved sleep that was interrupted by the people by the wall. I fell asleep almost immediately as my body hit my cushion.
I was deeply asleep for a couple of hours or so when one of my aides woke me up saying that I have to go to the storage facility to check on the military supplies delivery and meet the envoy. To tell you honestly, I was pissed being woken up for that. Supply deliveries is an internal thing so why can’t they just call the other guy for that. Why would I give up my sleep to make appearances for some sleazy old man of an envoy?
I told my aides than I am not going and I will just join the meeting later together with other more important people and about other more pressing matters. My aide reluctantly left and still delivered my message as he was told.
I would have loved to just sleep again but most likely that meeting will happen within the next hour. Even if I don’t like meeting with envoys and other officials, I still have to prepare and look presentable since I am representing my family whether I like it or not.
I lazily got out of my bed and went to the bath area to clean myself up. After my bath, I went back to my tent to wear my official military uniform for the meeting. For someone who did not want to show up at all after my sleep got interrupted, I suddenly felt an urge to take extra care in how I look for this meeting. It was a weird feeling but well, it is not like it will destroy my reputation.
Just as I finished preparing, one of my aides called for me right outside my tent. As expected, it did not take even an hour for the supply delivery to finish and for the meeting to start. I answered a perfunctory "hmm" to let him know that I could hear him. I came out of my tent after a few minutes and went straight to the tent for official meetings.
When I made my way inside, I noticed that there were still only a few people present. Most of them must still be at the storage areas accompanying the envoy. I don’t really have the energy to meet the envoy or whoever it was that was sent here. I have no complaints as long as our requested supplies have all been sent over.
I had to wait another quarter of an hour until the other participants of the meeting started pouring from the outside. The last one to enter
was a woman wearing dark colored clothes, almost her entire face covered with a veil. The only thing one can see were her eyes.
She greeted everybody through her eyes and nodded at them. She must have met almost every manager in the camp during the time that I was sleeping soundly in my tent. She must be the envoy then. How can the capital send such a young woman as an envoy?
Since we are on the topic of someone’s eyes, why do I feel like her eyes are familiar? This train of thought kept my mind wandering for several minutes at the start of the meeting. I honestly can’t remember what was discussed but I trust that my aides have taken note of the important points.
After several minutes, my eyes widened at the realization that she could be the same woman I was looking for in Hoffen City almost a year ago. I frantically looked for her for almost half a year until my family forced me to stop what they termed as "my madness". I am quite sure they thought that I was pretending to look for a woman that does not exist to stop the talks about my potential marriage partners.
Honestly, I am not sure anymore. Maybe her mysterious vibe and mischievous nature drew me in that night. It was like I found an elusive and rare prey that I had to bring home no matter what the cost. I wanted her and nobody else. This was indeed kind of extreme for someone who have no interest in women before so I can’t really blame my family for thinking that way.
My thoughts were cut off by Andreas’ voice, calling my name repeatedly and asking me if I have any particular facility that I wanted to suggest for improvement or a new facility that I wanted to request for building. I simply shook my head since I don’t really meddle on the plans they have for the internal structure of this camp. They can do whatever they want as long as everybody’s basic needs are met.
I continued staring at her as I noticed how her presence was so unnoticeable in this rooom. I know she knows I am staring at her but she’s quite good at ignoring me while nothing of her thoughts and feelings show on her face. Is this her skill or is she using an enchantment of some sort?
She did not talk even once during the meeting but listened intently on the discussions. It seems that she have already relayed all the information she has to Andreas and made him her spokesperson. The man gladly took the role and led the meeting well while his master was all smiley and useless.
At the end of the meeting, I saw her whispering something to Andreas then all of a sudden she was already exiting the tent. I wanted to curse out loud at this situation I am in again. Before I could think properly, I bolted out of the tent to run after her. Unfortunately, she got in her wagon before I could catch up to talk to her.
