Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 430 - The Human Mineral Detector

After returning to my wagon, I decided to clean up since I have been working all day and I honestly felt icky all over. I changed to my sleeping clothes and laid leisurely on my soft bed. From the inside, I could clearly see that a few individuals have been keeping an eye on my wagon. They must be the minions sent by the three leaders whom I ditched early this morning.

Though I know they were anxiously waiting for me to appear, I decided not to come out from the wagon. Who told them that it was alright to fight like children in front of me?

My task is just to ensure that the people here have ample jobs and have their other basic needs met. Since I already have the open area under my ownership, I only need to put facilities that would be helpful to everyone like a community kitchen, a place for showering and bathing, a proper place for sellers to offer their goods, a proper diner for warm food and maybe an inn for those who wanted to sleep more comfortably at night. I am also thinking about improving the resting places as well as put a place where tents can be rented for those that can’t afford a room at the inn.

These plans will all be for later, after I have sent a copy of the ownership confirmation to all three leaders. As for now, I will just stay still doing nothing until all the minions leave. Once they leave, I will start putting some useful spells on my new land like cleaning, deodorizing, cooling spells and something to deter evil like the one I placed in Crimson Kingdom before but much milder.

I had to wait for a couple of hours before they finally left. Once there wasn’t a soul in sight, I sneaked out of my wagon and casted one spell after the other. I also started installing barrier stones by burying them along the perimeter of my land. It will still be an open area like before but it just has a more reliable manager, I guess.

The next morning, all the miners and people who usually spend their day in the open area was welcomed with a cleaner, cooler and more pleasing space. There was confusion on most of their faces since they couldn’t explain how the changes came about in just one night. I don’t have the intention to explain for now though.

For today, I changed my look and also dressed differently since I will be working in another mining area. My target for today is the one being managed by the Oriol household.

Just like yesterday, I went through the process of registering as a daily worker, rented some mining equipment and patiently waited for our group to be ushered in. I had to wait about half an hour before I was able to start my work. The target for today are minerals found in this area like copper, gold, silver, iron, aluminum and coal but I am hoping I would be able to find other useful minerals here.

As usual, I was assigned to my own area. In this mine, workers are assigned to a 5-meter wide wall where they will start mining for the day. The next miner will then be placed about 15 meters apart from the first one to ensure that miners won’t fight for minerals they found. It is also a way to cover a bigger mining area as fast as possible. The shifts are still at 8 hours which is fine with me since if I remember it right, mines in my previous world had 12-hour shifts or more and had poorer working conditions.

I went to my work mode trance once more to tune out everyone else. In this mine, since we are dealing with minerals which are heavy and numerous, instead of sacks, we were given two huge mine carts each to place things that we have dug up. I do understand the point since rocks are heavier and if placed in wheeled carts, it would make it easier for us to transport them after the work day is over.

The 8-hour shift passed by quite quickly and I was quite happy with the assortment of minerals I have found in this mine. I carefully recorded each one and made sure I had a 3D image of them for my book. I also took "samples" for the new kinds I discovered and kept it in my storage. As for the share of the mining owner, I placed the mid-grade and low-grade officially known ones inside the mine cart for submission to the mining supervisors.

The rest of the things that happened were as expected given my efficiency and ability to find valuable items and mine them efficiently. I got some bonuses and commissions as well. For some reason, unlike Erdene that gave me 40% commission as a one time deal, Oriol offers 40% commission to all miners for their haul. Though they don’t give days off as a reward for productivity, they opted to give each miner the option to choose one day in every week where they do not have to work just like a modern day workplace.

As for the management, the supervisors are more approachable and friendly towards the workers. The workers that I have been with also have praises for their employer and was proud to say that they never felt short changed for their work which is something I am happy about.

After work, I sneaked away from the crowd again since who in their right mind would even lurk around in public when you have some big amount of money in your hands anyway. I also wanted to escape from the supervisor who was almost forcing me to sign a long term miner contract due to my skills. Just like yesterday, I did the "find a secluded spot and teleport away" scheme for my escape.

Once inside my wagon, I once again used my time to think about things and when I got bored, I started compiling my reports about Kolyer. I think this place will give me a lot of stress with compiling a report. Well, I accepted the task so I have no choice but to see it through till the end.
