Infinite Dragon Beast: Taming Ice Dragons with SSS Ranked Talent-Chapter 112: Independent Group
In total, Aiden spent 20 gold coins for their equipment. Aiden wore golden armor, complete with a long spear, which had become his signature weapon.
Aurora wore ice-blue armor with a sword in her hand, Rachel wore black armor, Amber wore red armor, and Joe wore dark purple armor. Only three women were seen using swords, while Joe and Aiden wore spears.
"I never thought I’d be wearing armor and holding a sword like a knight," said Amber.
"This is great, isn’t it? If we manage in this disguise, we’ll be knights and mages at the same time," explained Aurora.
"That’s right. Although, that knight who fought Aiden. He seems to have learned some special knight techniques," said Amber.
"Should we also look for information about those special techniques?" asked Rachel.
The blacksmith shop owner heard their conversation by accident. He stepped forward and asked a basic question, naturally about their class identities. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Don’t you know about the sword’s will?," asked the man, whom Aiden knew as Lefan.
Aurora and the others responded by shaking their heads. Aiden stayed silent. He also remembered the moment when Denis looked surprised to see Aiden’s sword will was red, different from his own.
"So, you are mages?" asked Lefan.
Aiden began to explain the truth to him. Aurora, Amber, and Rachel were mages, while Joe was a pure spear user. Aiden also told him that he was also a mage. This information was surprising to Lefan.
"I see. Now I understand why you were able to defeat that knight," replied Lefan.
"Knights are superior in close combat, unlike mages who are skilled in long-range attacks. In some battles between the two classes, mages always have the advantage," explained Lefan.
"Why did you choose to become knights?" Lefan asked, curious.
Aiden remained silent. He just met Lefan and didn’t fully trust him yet. He wasn’t bound to tell Lefan his true identity.
"We want to learn other classes even though they’re different from our original ones," Aiden revealed.
"Hmm... do you want to become a Magic Knight?" Lefan asked. Aiden nodded.
"What is a Magic Knight?" Amber asked.
Lefan focused his gaze on the woman in red armor seriously, "Magic Knights are those who can use magic and sword skills at the same time. You could say they master two different classes."
"Throughout the Arcanis Kingdom, there are only 10 Magic Knights. Five of them are located in the capital, while the rest are spread across other cities," replied Lefan.
"Because their power comes from two different classes, their abilities are far stronger than those of ordinary knights or mages," added Lefan.
"That’s right! Mages aren’t very advantageous in close combat. Knights are easily defeated by long-range attacks. If we can learn the sword techniques of knights, then our weaknesses can be effectively covered," Aiden explained to Aurora and the others.
Aurora nodded, and the others responded similarly. In truth, they had already become quite skilled and proficient in magic over the past few years. Still, it would be much better if they also studied the knights’ sword techniques.
"I’ll follow your decision, Aiden," Aurora said, and Rachel and the others responded in the same way.
Lefan fell silent. He then explained how they could obtain those abilities, one of the most effective methods being to study at the Arcanis Sword Institute.
There, Aiden and the others could obtain a lot of information and learn about knights and swordsmanship. Aiden was silent, he had expected Lefan to suggest this.
"Is there another way?" asked Aiden.
"Hmm... maybe as an adventurer," replied Lefan.
"Becoming an adventurer will expose my true class. In the end, I’ll still be a mage," explained Aiden.
"Is there any other way?" asked Aiden, smiling slightly.
Lefan narrowed his eyes, growing suspicious because Aiden was asking for something else from the two best suggestions he could offer. Lefan’s eyes widened, trying to remember something else for certain.
"Perhaps, becoming an independent group," explained Lefan.
"An independent group?" asked Aiden, unsure.
"That’s right. Independent groups are formed based on will and free will, not bound by guilds or anything else. You are free to form an independent group with any number of people," replied Lefan.
"Then, what do they do?" asked Aurora.
"Exploring dungeons, fighting on the front lines, or even assisting adventurer groups from the Guild. There are many things they can do, the reward system is also flexible," Lefan answered.
"Ah, that’s much better, Aiden," Amber replied.
Aurora nodded in agreement with Amber. If Aiden refused to join the Arcanis Sword Institute and the Guild, the only option was to form an Independent Group.
With an independent group, they wouldn’t have to worry about adventurers, mages, or knights noticing them.
"Alright. Where can we register as an independent group?" asked Aiden.
"According to the latest city regulations, you must go to the noble family in Lunor City to obtain their approval. After that, they will issue a letter to officially recognize your independent group," Lefan replied.
"City nobles, huh?"
"That’s right. The city’s ruler is the Reinhard Noble Family. You must go there and meet with them," Aiden said.
"Reinhard? Isn’t that Helen’s family name?" asked Aiden.
"Alright. Thanks for the information," said Aiden as he took his leave.
"No problem. If you need anything about your equipment, don’t hesitate to come and see me."
After saying goodbye, they left wearing black robes with hoods and abstract red patterns. According to the city map, the location of the Reinhard noble family’s house was near the city government office.
From the information Aiden had obtained, the Reinhard noble family was famous for their trading skills.
They controlled the city through their trade, so it was only natural that they had slowly become the most respected noble family in Lunor City.
After walking a few steps from the city center, they were stunned by a large five-story building with a spacious front yard.
The Reinhard family crest was displayed at the entrance gate, showing their status to everyone.
Two gate guards stopped Aiden and his friends. They asked about Aiden’s purpose for coming to the Reinhard residence.
"I want to register my independent group," Aiden replied.
"Independent group? HAHA! There are still crazy people who want to work without any protection," the guard said, laughing mockingly.
"Do you have a recommendation token?" another guard asked. Aiden remained silent, having no idea what a token was.
"See?! You didn’t even prepare yourself properly," the guard said, mocking Aiden again.
"Get out of here before I kick you out!"
Aurora was furious at their attitude. She wanted to slice their throats cleanly. But Aiden reached out and held her back, preventing her from acting further.
Suddenly, a procession of horse-drawn carriages arrived from the city road. Aiden and the others turned their heads. The procession was heavily guarded by many knights who served the Reinhard family.
"Welcome, Young Lady," replied another guard.
Helen looked out the carriage window and accidentally saw a familiar face. She knew who he was—the man wearing the mysterious black robe.
"Aiden?" Helen asked, startled.
"Stop!" Helen exclaimed, startling everyone.
The carriage door opened, showing a girl who looked like she had just returned from the Astralis Magical Academy. She was still wearing her academy uniform.
Aiden gasped, his eyes wide, not expecting Helen to be in the carriage.
"Hello, Aiden. Long time no see," Helen greeted him with a smile.
"Helen?"
