Immortal Supreme: Sovereign of the Grand Dao-Chapter 291: History of the Evil God Extermination Sect
Lady Ayara stood and bowed once more. Her three companions mirrored the gesture.
"Thank you again for your time and assistance, Your Highness," she said. "We won’t forget this kindness."
Her companions also prepared to leave. They bowed respectfully.
But as Lady Ayara began to turn toward the door, Arthur spoke.
"Wait."
The word was calm but carried weight. Lady Ayara paused immediately. She turned back to face him.
"Yes, Your Highness?"
Arthur studied her for a moment. His expression remained composed. "I’d like to speak with you privately, if you don’t mind. There are some matters I wish to discuss regarding your sect."
Lady Ayara hesitated only briefly. Then she nodded. "Of course, Your Highness. I’m at your disposal."
She turned to her three companions. "Wait for me outside."
The three women exchanged glances. One of them stepped forward slightly. "Elder Sister, would it be —"
"It’s fine," Lady Ayara said firmly but gently. "Prince Arthur has already agreed to help us. There’s no need for concern."
The women looked uncertain but they knew better than to question their elder sister’s decisions repeatedly. They bowed to Arthur once more.
"Your Highness," they said in unison.
Arthur raised his hand slightly. A servant appeared at the doorway as if summoned by silent command.
"Please escort these ladies to the east pavilion," Arthur instructed. "Provide them with refreshments and ensure they’re comfortable."
The servant bowed deeply. "As you command, Your Highness."
The three women followed the servant out. The doors closed behind them with a soft sound.
Lady Ayara stood alone now in Arthur’s presence. She maintained her composure but Arthur could sense a slight shift in her energy. Not fear exactly, but heightened awareness.
"Please, sit again," Arthur said. He gestured to the chair she’d occupied earlier.
Lady Ayara moved gracefully and sat down. Her posture was perfect. "What did you wish to discuss, Your Highness?"
Arthur leaned forward slightly. His fingers steepled together. "I want to know more about your sect. Its history. How it came to be."
Lady Ayara tilted her head slightly. "May I ask why you’re curious about such things? Most people only care about what benefits they can gain."
"I prefer to understand who I’m working with," Arthur replied smoothly. "Knowledge is valuable. Besides understanding your sect’s background helps me better assist you."
It was a reasonable explanation. Lady Ayara seemed to accept it.
"Very well," she said. "Our sect’s history is not a happy one, but it’s important to us."
She paused, collecting her thoughts. Then she began.
"Long ago, the territory that our sect once controlled was not a place of peace. It was ruled by the Poison Moon Sect."
Arthur’s expression didn’t change, but he filed away the name.
"The Poison Moon Sect was exactly what its name suggested," Lady Ayara continued. Her voice carried old pain. "They practiced demonic cultivation. They used poison arts in the most vile ways imaginable. The people living under their rule suffered greatly."
"Women were taken as cauldrons for their cultivation. Children were used in experiments. Men were worked to death in their mines and fields. It was a nightmare that lasted for generations."
Arthur listened without interrupting. He could hear the genuine emotion in her words.
"We were among the descendants of those who suffered," Lady Ayara said. "My sisters and I—not just those you met today, but all members of our sect—our ancestors come from that dark time. We were either victims ourselves or descendants of victims."
"Personally...I experienced that season. Although I was but a child then."
"Then everything changed when she appeared."
"Your sect founder," Arthur said.
"Yes," Lady Ayara confirmed. Her voice carried reverence now. "Our ancestor descended upon that land like a force of nature. She appeared suddenly, with no warning. And she challenged the Poison Moon Sect directly."
"A single person challenged an entire sect?" Arthur asked.
"She did," Lady Ayara replied. "And she won. But not immediately. First, she gathered those of us who were willing to fight. Those who had suffered but hadn’t lost the will to resist."
"She trained us. She taught us cultivation techniques. She gave us hope and strength. Under her leadership, we formed a resistance." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Lady Ayara’s hands clenched slightly in her lap. "The rebellion was bloody. It lasted for tens of years. Many died. But our ancestor was unstoppable. She fought the sect elders personally. She destroyed their formations. She countered their poison arts with techniques we’d never seen before."
"Eventually, we succeeded. The Poison Moon Sect was destroyed completely. Not a single core member survived. Their techniques were sealed or destroyed. Their territory was liberated."
"That’s when your sect was established," Arthur said.
"Exactly," Lady Ayara confirmed. "On the ruins of the Poison Moon Sect, our ancestor founded the Evil God Extermination Sect."
Arthur raised an eyebrow slightly. "Evil God Extermination Sect, I see."
"Yes," Lady Ayara said. "Our ancestor chose it deliberately. She told us that the sect’s purpose was to stand against all evil immortals. To exterminate evil wherever we found it. It became one of our core Dao principles."
"That’s an ambitious goal," Arthur chuckled, acting like he had no idea about the true purpose of their founder.
"It seems so," Lady Ayara agreed. "But under our ancestor’s leadership, we flourished. The sect grew in power and influence. We controlled a significant territory in the eastern continent. We trained disciples. We gathered resources. We punished evildoers and protected the innocent."
"For thousands of years, the Evil God Extermination Sect was respected and feared. Our name alone was enough to make demonic cultivators flee."
Arthur could hear the pride in her voice. But also sadness.
"What happened next?" he asked, though he already knew the answer.
Lady Ayara’s shoulders slumped slightly. "A few hundred years ago, our ancestor disappeared."
"Disappeared? Not died?"
"We don’t know," Lady Ayara admitted. "She left the sect one day on a journey. She said she had important matters to attend to. She promised to return. But she never did."
"Years passed. Then decades. Eventually, a century passed with no word from her. Some believed she had fallen in a battle somewhere. Others thought she’d ascended to a higher realm and couldn’t return."
"But without confirmation, we couldn’t be certain."
