Chapter 1010: I Don't Care

In the capital, at the Nether Guards Division, within the residence of the Day Walker Monarch.

A Yin Walker knelt on the ground with his head low, trembling uncontrollably.

Little Black and Wu Wei stood behind Fang Chen, while Du Yunxu stood to Fang Chen's left, quietly observing the kneeling Yin Walker.

Wu Wei was extremely excited; he never thought he'd have the chance to come to the Nether Guards Division in the capital.

To those from the Day Walker lineage, the Nether Guard Division in the capital was akin to a sacred land. Even the ordinary Day Walkers from the capital were people he, a Day Walker Marshal, could hardly match.

Because of that, Wu Wei felt a bit less resentful toward the Yin Walker before him. If not for this fellow, he might not have had such an opportunity.

"Speak, who ordered you to take them down?" Du Yunxu asked coldly. "Speak the truth, and you can avoid punishment. You're a Yin Walker; you know the methods of the underworld. It's not so easy to die."

"Can I really live if I speak?" asked the Yin Walker, his voice hoarse.

Fang Chen nodded. "Yes, as long as what you say is true, you can live."

"Alright... Zhou Ning, Lingkong City's lord, was the one who hired me."

Du Yunxu looked toward Fang Chen. "My lord, could it be that someone in the Judgement Division harbors resentment?"

"I have a feeling this guy isn't telling the truth," replied Fang Chen, looking at the Yin Walker coldly. "Since he doesn't cherish his chance, let's not make it difficult for him."

Du Yunxu's eyes flickered, and he nodded. He took a step forward and seized the Yin Walker by the neck.

Though both were at the level of Profound Immortals, Du Yunxu was clearly much stronger than the Yin Walker.

Once grasped by the neck, Du Yunxu's yin energy crazily surged into the man, relentlessly breaking down his soul.

"I'll talk, I'll talk!" shrieked the Yin Walker.

Feeling the threat of death, the Yin Walker decided to confess everything.

Du Yunxu stopped, glancing at Fang Chen.

"I don't want to hear it. Send him off," Fang Chen ordered.

Du Yunxu hesitated for a moment, then nodded. The Yin Walker's soul was rapidly corroded by Du Yunxu's Yin energy.

The Yin Walker's face showed shock, unable to believe that even though he was willing to speak, the other party wasn't willing to listen!

Didn't they want to know the truth behind everything?

Regardless of how much he begged or even began to reveal genuine information, it did not make Fang Chen spare him a second glance.

Wu Wei watched as a Profound Immortal-level Yin Walker died right in front of him, feeling a chill running down his spine.

After the Yin Walker's soul was utterly destroyed, Du Yunxu turned to Fang Chen, speaking softly. "My lord, that's one clue lost. Do we have any other leads?"

"Of course, we have," Fang Chen responded. "Go invite Jing Xue over here, and be polite about it."

"Yes."

Du Yunxu turned and left.

Wu Wei's confusion was immediately cleared up, his eyes showing a flash of realization.

No wonder the monarch wasn't willing to waste time listening to the Yin Walker. He had already found a new clue.

How much time has passed since they became aware of the incident?

Wu Wei's respect grew even deeper.

It was no wonder Fang Chen was the Day Walker Monarch. The highest official of the Day Walker lineage managed to find useful clues in such a short period. If it were someone else, they might be kept in the dark until their death.

Realization struck Little Black. "Lord, is this matter related to the Night Walker lineage?"

Wu Wei pricked up his ears.

"Who saved you when you were attacked?" Fang Chen asked.

Little Black answered, "Hu Qian, Hujiao City's Night Walker Marshal."

Fang Chen nodded. "Alright, the problem lies with her then."

"It's her?" Little Black looked puzzled. "She has taken quite good care of me since I arrived in Hujiao City."

Soon, Du Yunxu returned with Jing Xue.

Jing Xue had a complex expression, and she immediately bowed to Fang Chen. "Du Yunxu told me that you wanted to see me, Monarch Fang."

Fang Chen's eyes carried a smile. "Monarch Jing, did you order your subordinates to ambush one of my men?"

Jing Xue widened her eyes at the accusation. Eyes siffusing with anger, she retorted, "What do you mean by that? When did I order my subordinates to ambush one of your men?"

"If not, then call Hu Qian of Hujiao City to the capital," Fang Chen said.

"Hu Qian?" Jing Xue paused, surprised. "Can you first explain what exactly happened?"

Fang Chen nodded before glancing at Little Black. "Little Black, tell her."

In a few words, Little Black briefly shared the details of the events.

Jing Xue's expression shifted. "Are you saying someone tried to frame the Judgment Division?"

She couldn't imagine who would dare target a confidant of the current Day Walker Monarch.

In her mind, several suspicious figures appeared.

If they wanted to frame the Judgment Division, then naturally, the Nether Guards Division and the Soul Capturing Division were the biggest suspects. They had been fiercely competing recently; it wouldn't be surprising if they used this as an excuse to drag the Day Walker Monarch into their conflicts.

Considering this, Jing Xue shared her suspicions. "The Night Walker lineage never gets involved in such matters. If someone acted privately, I'll see to their punishment and give you a proper explanation, Monarch Fang."

Fang Chen laughed. "We do need an explanation. After all, you can't just show up now and then to assert your presence."

Jing Xue's expression changed slightly, and she no longer spoke, only stomping her foot lightly as a figure suddenly appeared before everyone.

Hu Qian looked slightly bewildered, and after realizing where she was, she quickly bowed to Jing Xue. "Your subordinate Hu Qian greets you, Monarch Jing."

Besides Jing Xue, Hu Qian also noticed Little Black and Wu Wei. However, she showed no surprise, remaining calm and composed.

"Monarch Fang has some questions for you. You'd better tell the truth. If you hide anything, even I can't save you," Jing Xue said.

Hu Qian looked confused, scanning the room before her gaze finally landed on Fang Chen. She tentatively asked, "Monarch Fang?"

Fang Chen smiled and nodded. "Yes, it's me."

Hu Qian hurriedly responded, "Monarch Fang, whatever questions you have, I will answer them to the best of my ability, not withholding anything."

"I want to know who you are working for and why you're targeting me," Fang Chen said.

Hu Qian initially looked confused, then showed a fearful expression, glancing involuntarily at Jing Xue before hurriedly looking back at Fang Chen. Stammering, she said, "I... I don't understand what you mean. When have I ever targeted you, Monarch Fang?"

Fang Chen smiled. "You didn't have that look when you spoke to Little Black's Day Walker Marshal."

Hu Qian's heart skipped a beat. How does he know about that?! Have I been betrayed?!

Fang Chen coldly said, "Tell me, what is your relationship with the Spirit God Sect, and what are their real intentions behind ordering you to ambush Little Black?"

The Spirit God Sect!? Aren't either the Nether Guards Division and the Soul Capturing Division the ones involved?!

Jing Xue instinctively looked at Fang Chen. "Monarch Fang, how could the Spirit God Sect dare to attack a Day Walker Monarch? This must be connected to the Nether Guards Division and the Soul Capturing Division."

"Monarch Jing, if I say it's the Spirit God Sect, then it is the Spirit God Sect. This has nothing to do with the Nether Guards Division or the Soul Capturing Division," Fang Chen replied. "Get Monarch You. The Spirit God Sect dares such an outrageous act... It's time to clean up the capital."

"This..."

Jing Xue felt something was off, but remembering Fang Chen's relationship with Monarch Yan, she said no more and left to find Lord You Fang.
