Chapter 1009: I Have It. Do you Want It?

Little Black and Fang Chen looked at Wu Wei. They stared at him until Wu Wei started sweating profusely. His breathing quickened, and his face turned deathly pale.

Seeing his terrible condition, Little Black smiled. "As of now, I don't have any evidence that you were involved. But I don't think the culprit would be so obvious. They'd be much more cautious not to let their intentions show."

Wu Wei "Thank you for believing in me, Lord Black!"

Wu Wei felt relieved, though inwardly he was raging. He was clearly being toyed with!

"Leave the city and head to Lingkong City. I want to see if they will make a move," said Fang Chen with a soft smile.

Little Black nodded and walked toward the door. Seeing this, Wu Wei quickly bowed to Fang Chen and hurriedly followed Little Black.

By the time Little Black and Wu Wei reached the entrance of the Nether Guards Division, several Day Walker Marshals had hurried over, having heard the news.

When one of them noticed the serious expressions on Little Black and Wu Wei's faces, he asked, "Lord Black, where are you going?"

"Wu Wei has found a clue. I'm going to Lingkong City. There's no need for you to come. Just stay here," Little Black replied.

"You're going to Lingkong City!? My lord, it hasn't been long since your attack! If you leave the city now, they might...."

A Day Walker Marshal frowned slightly. "Traveling from Hujiao City to Lingkong City involves passing through many cities, and the journey is long. If that person is still keen on another attack, this could provide them with a good opportunity."

"I imagine they wouldn't be so bold. Having failed once, they would have already fled. Why would they continue to focus on me?" Little Black waved his hand. "You need not say more. Just stay put here."

Wu Wei interjected, "Rest assured, with me by the lord's side, I will definitely not let him be in any danger."

The other Day Walker Marshals said no more. However, when Wu Wei and Little Black's figures faded into the distance, a frown crept across the Day Walker Marshals' faces. They turned back and returned to the Nether Guards Division.

One of them went to the office of the Night Walker God, and just as he approached the door, a lazy voice came from inside. "Come in."

The Day Walker Marshal entered the hall and bowed to a graceful figure. "Lady Hu, Lord Hei and Wu Wei are on their way to Lingkong City."

"They've finally decided to move," muttered Lady Hu.

She turned around, revealing herself in a tight-fitting robe, her legs long and her face strikingly beautiful.

Fang Chen was quite surprised. He had suspected something was off with Hujiao City from the start. If not, why would Little Black be attacked but not Little White?

Since they chose Little Black to attack, it indicated that the perpetrator felt they could control the situation within Hujiao City. But he hadn't expected it to be those from the Night Walker lineage.

Hu Qian smiled. "You may leave now. Don't expose yourself during this time. Once things start, we'll just watch the show." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

The Day Walker Marshal mustered his courage to glance at her, his eyes flashing with admiration, and it took him a few moments to nod in understanding. He hesitated, "Lady Hu, about Lord Black..."

Hu Qian chuckled. "There will be those who handle it. If I were to leave Hujiao City now, the Record of Good and Evil will record my departure. If that happened, even if I jumped into the Forgotten River, I wouldn't be able to wash away the suspicion. We can't make any moves right now."

"That's very thoughtful of you, Lady Hu!" the Day Walker Marshal flattered.

Thanks to his rank and authority as a Day Walker God, Little Black travelled through each city on his way without incident. Half a day had gone by since they set out, and Little Black and Wu Wei were now halfway to Lingkong City.

Wu Wei was very vigilant along the way, carefully sensing his surroundings, fearing someone might foolishly attack the great Lord Black under his watch.

If his superior were to be assassinated under his supervision, his position as a Day Walker Marshal would be in jeopardy.

After another half day, Wu Wei suddenly said, "Lord, we are about to reach Lingkong City. Why..."

Little Black shot him a look. "Cut the crap. Just keep going."

Wu Wei nodded sheepishly, stepping carefully behind Little Black. Just as they were about to cross a bridge, they saw a person standing in the middle of the bridge with their back toward them.

Wu Wei's expression darkened. "What are you doing standing in the middle of the bridge? Move aside! Don't block our way!"

The person on the bridge chuckled. "The road is wide, and it doesn't belong to you. If you want to pass, just pass. Don't disturb me enjoying the scenery here."

"Enjoying the scenery? What scenery? The Forgotten River? Looks like you want to take a swim in it," Wu Wei scoffed.

He signaled for Little Black to wait while he approached the man, intending to push him aside.

In a flash, a powerful surge of Yin energy erupted from Wu Wei, forming a blade aimed at the man's back.

As if he had a pair of eyes on the back of his head, the man took a step forward, narrowly dodging Wu Wei's attack.

The man turned around and gazed at Wu Wei. "You want to kill just because I am blocking you're path?"

Wu Wei was immediately alerted. From how easily the man dodged his attack, he guessed he was probably a Profound Immortal.

"You think I'm a fool? You're here to enjoy the scenery in this deserted place?" Wu Wei sneered, slowly retreating to Little Black's side, his eyes not leaving the man. "Speak up, what are you planning?"

"Lord, this is a Yin Walker," said Wu Wei to Little Black.

Little Black nodded. "I can see that."

He could sense a faint Yang energy on the man. He was clearly not a lost soul but a living human from the Mortal Realm.

"Don't you find that it's exactly this kind of desolate scenery that touches the heart the most?" The man pointed to the vast Forgotten River. "Look at how calm it appears on the surface, but who can see how many souls are submerged below, and what stories they lived through before? Only by standing here and quietly savoring the atmosphere can one begin to empathize with them."

"Are you sick in the head?" Wu Wei frowned. "If you're sick, go see a doctor. Don't block the way here. Move aside quickly."

"Are you here for me? Aren't you afraid that besides Wu Wei, there are others with me?" Little Black said indifferently.

"Heh, it's exactly because I was afraid that I didn't make a move sooner. But now.... You two really are bold, daring to travel alone to Lingkong City."

The person chuckled softly, his figure instantly disappearing from the spot.

Wu Wei and Little Black were slightly startled, and by the time they reacted, they could already hear the person's voice coming from behind them.

At the same time, the Yin energy around them seemed to be restrained by some force, making it impossible for them to move.

"I don't want to kill you two, but I do want you to indulge in the Forgotten River and experience the most beautiful things of the underworld."

"You really are sick," Little Black said earnestly.

"Is that so? I'm sick, then. Do you have a cure for me?" the person said softly.

At that moment, someone's voice came from behind the man.

"I do, do you want it?"

The man's scalp tingled and almost exploded in fright. He wanted to turn around, but he discovered that he couldn't move a finger.

He was horrified. What kind of powerful being could restrain him so silently?

Wu Wei and Little Black found they could move again and hurriedly turned around to bow.

"Lord, he is a Yin Walker. We should be able to learn quite a bit from him!" said Little Black, coldly staring at the person while speaking to Fang Chen.
