I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!-Chapter 207: Barely enough
"Are the Ancient Houses actually going to war? If that happens, will our space sector be affected?"
Although Leo didn’t like the result of his actions, there was nothing he could do now. He could only think about his own safety.
The battlefield of the ancient houses was something that he couldn’t take part in. In the first place, he didn’t want to be a part of that.
If it was up to him, he would have already gone underground, to protect himself. Then again, Leo Vanderlen was already missing, and he was a completely different person.
Even if someone found out that the envoy was none other than his brother, what did it have to do with him?
As long as the aftermath of the battle didn’t reach him, he was fine.
"It hasn’t reached that point yet. The Union is trying to mediate the situation, but as you can guess, we have limited leverage. However, even if they did go to war, your space sector should be relatively safe."
"It’s quite far away after all, almost at the edge of the universe. You’re quite lucky in that regard..."
The men from the Galactic Union even felt a little jealous of Leo. Since he was part of a weaker middle tier planet, he didn’t stand out in the grand scale of things. And their location was also far from the center of influence.
If it wasn’t for this case, the Galactic Union wouldn’t have even known of the existence of such a person.
"I see." Leo rubbed his chin, thanking the representatives of the Union.
He didn’t spend any more time with them, nor did he ask for any more intricate details that might make them suspect him.
"I’ll be certain to bring you some gifts in the future." He respectfully bid them farewell, slowly turning around.
He walked away, the smile on his face immediately disappearing.
"What a nice guy..." The representatives of the union also walked away, having a good impression of Leo.
....
"As long as this mess doesn’t spill over to earth, it should be fine. And with time, I’m sure things will calm down. In the meantime, I should focus on the things I’m good at..."
Leo shook his head and stopped thinking about the Ancient Houses. In his mind, they had nothing to do with him anymore, at least not now.
The journey back was much more silent than before. For the entire time, Leo didn’t come out of his room.
Many people wondered what he was doing in his room, but no one bothered to disturb him.
Even though they were carrying the Patriarch of the Lionel Family on the ship as a hostage, they were still as carefree as ever.
After Leo’s performance in the court, no one really wanted to mess with him. As for the Lionel Family’s case, it had already gone cold.
No one really looked for the Lionel Family Patriarch anymore, especially since the family had fallen.
Before long, another month passed. It was time for another settlement.
Throughout this month, Leo hadn’t really gone on a spending spree, taking this as a waste of a month where he saved money to splurge at once later.
All the profits that came from his various companies were supposed to be settled in one place, especially since next month, he was going to go all out.
Instead of looking for how much money he had lost, Leo was curious about finding out how much he had actually gained.
The settlement screen materialized before Leo while he was rotting in his comfortable bed, appearing lazy.
Leo went through the settlement screen that had materialized. Once again, he saw the profits that came throughout this month.
To his surprise, it was again larger than he had expected. Once again, there appeared to be an unknown source that he still hadn’t managed to find.
Even though he didn’t waste too much money this month, only spending on construction and lawyers, his profits for this month were still over three trillion credits for some reason.
The profits that he had earned from the companies, was merely a few millions, so the unknown source still left a sour taste in his mouth.
"Where is this massive profit? Just where does it keep coming from?"
He rubbed his forehead. Even if he was prepared for something like this, it didn’t mean he wasn’t frustrated.
"Last month, that unknown profit was roughly two and a half trillion. This month, it’s three trillion. If it stays at that pace, I would need to lose at least Five Trillion to ensure that I am not in profit next month?"
With a deep sigh, he closed the system screen.
Five trillion credits... It was a massive number that could make anyone drool. It was more than the yearly revenue of most middle tier planets.
He didn’t even want to know how many low tier planets he could actually buy with that money.
If he had that much in his personal account, he would be able to retire in some peaceful corner of the world, his descendants living the life of a king for millennia to come.
There was only one problem though. He didn’t actually have five trillions to send.
Although the system settlement screen revealed that he had earned three trillion this month, and two and a half last month, that was just that... On the screen.
In his company account, there was no mysterious settlement that large. He didn’t even know if he had actually earned that, or if it was just a bug. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Even after selling the treasures through the auction, he had barely earned a few trillions in the last few months.
From raising an army, to the construction of an entire city on his new planet, to the massive salaries of his staff, his company account had barely ten million credits left.
As for his personal account, it was not even worth mentioning. His personal bank account only had enough money to ensure that if he was in danger, he could afford food for a month.
