Chapter 214: Chapter 210

Just as Ricky was about to charge, Edward grabbed his arm and pointed. "Look," he said, his voice filled with a strange mix of confusion and awe.

Ricky turned his head, following the direction of Edward’s finger. He froze. The entire herd of winged horses had surrounded Anastasia. They were not attacking. They were just standing there, their heads lowered, their intense, red eyes fixed on her.

Anastasia was paralyzed with fear. A story her father had told her years ago flashed through her mind. Her grandfather had been killed by a herd of these same beasts.

Demon Horses, they were called.

They were incredibly powerful, equally fast on the ground and in the air. Their durability was legendary, and their attack power was even greater. She looked into their glowing red eyes and felt a cold certainty wash over her. This is my last day.

Seeing his daughter surrounded, Ricky gritted his teeth, his protective instincts overriding all caution. He broke from the cover of the trees and began to run towards them, ready to fight and die for his daughter. But as he ran, he saw something that made him stop in his tracks.

One of the horses, the largest of the herd, stepped forward.

It walked right up to Anastasia, who was still frozen in terror, and lowered its massive head until its forehead touched the ground before her feet.

Everyone was stunned. Ricky, the other hunters, even Anastasia herself could not believe what they were seeing. Then, one by one, all the other Demon Horses did the same, lowering their heads in a gesture of absolute submission.

They had sensed the same energy in Anastasia that they had sensed in Adam. She was part of their new master’s family. And so, they considered her their master as well.

Ricky had never seen anything like it. He couldn’t understand what was happening. The lead horse then gently nudged Anastasia with its head, guiding her towards its back. She was still in a state of shock, but as the horse continued to nudge her, she slowly began to understand.

"Do you... do you want me to ride on your back?" she asked, her voice a trembling whisper.

"Stop! Anastasia, don’t do it!" Ricky shouted, but it was too late. With a strange new sense of trust, she swung her leg over the horse’s back and settled onto its broad, powerful shoulders.

The horse immediately stood up, spread its massive wings, and with a single, powerful beat, it launched itself into the sky. Anastasia gasped and grabbed onto the thick mane of the horse. She had never flown before. The feeling of soaring through the air, of the wind rushing past her face, was both terrifying and exhilarating.

Ricky watched his daughter disappear into the sky, his mind a whirlwind of confusion. A part of him, the cautious chief, screamed that this was a trick, that the horses were taking her into the air to kill her. But their submissive behavior made no sense. He couldn’t risk it, but he was also powerless to stop it.

He was so focused on Anastasia that he didn’t notice Edward until it was too late. With a wide, joyous grin on his face, his uncle was running towards the remaining horses.

"Edward, no!" Ricky yelled, but his brother was already leaping onto the back of another Demon Horse. The horse, which had been kneeling, stood up, spread its wings, and shot into the sky.

From high above, Edward’s gleeful shout echoed down to the clearing. "Everyone, pick your horse! From now on, we fly like the birds!"

Ricky muttered under his breath, "That fool doesn’t understand the seriousness of this situation."

But then, to his utter astonishment, he saw his other hunters, the men who had been terrified just moments before, now running towards the Demon Horses with expressions of pure excitement. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

One by one, they were lifted into the sky, each hunter finding a mount. They all flew in the direction Anastasia had gone.

Ricky stood there alone, the last man on the ground. He let out a long, heavy sigh. Where are these horses taking them? he wondered.

Then, the largest of the remaining horses, a truly massive beast, walked up to him and lowered its head, an open invitation. With a final sigh of resignation, Ricky gave in.

He leaped onto its back, and with a powerful thrust, the horse carried him into the sky, quickly catching up to the others.

He flew up beside Anastasia. The view from up here was incredible. He could see his entire village, small columns of smoke rising from the chimneys.

He could see the vast expanse of the jungle stretching out in every direction. And they were traveling at an incredible speed, five times faster than they could ever move on foot. They were covering more ground in minutes than they could in an entire day of trekking through the dense undergrowth.

Anastasia was still in a state of wonder. She gently patted the neck of her horse. "Do you know where my little brother is?" she asked.

The horse let out a soft cry and banked to the left, leading the entire herd in a new direction.

Ricky pulled his horse up alongside hers. "Where are these horses taking us?" he asked.

Anastasia looked at him, her face a mixture of surprise and dawning understanding. "I think... I think they know where Adam is," she said.

A wave of relief washed over Ricky, but he quickly hid it behind his stern, chief-like expression. "Alright then," he said. "Let’s go."

Edward flew up on her other side. "Do you have any idea why these horses are suddenly obeying us?" he asked, a wide grin still plastered on his face.

Anastasia looked straight ahead, a small, knowing smile on her lips. "I think Adam has something to do with it," she said. "I think they know him."

The words hung in the air, a shocking, impossible explanation that both Ricky and Edward knew, deep down, had to be the truth.
