Ignored When Chasing: Why Cry After I Got Engaged-Chapter 98: Nervous Mr. Nathan
Seeing the nervous look on Sharon Quincy’s face, Serena Hughes’s eyes narrowed slightly.
’Ever since I mentioned Cecilia Nathan, this woman has been on edge.’
’Does Cecilia Nathan have some kind of ulterior secret?’
Thinking of Cecilia Nathan’s bodyguards, and then recalling her suspicion that Sharon Quincy was most likely an "imposter," Serena Hughes’s eye twitched violently.
’Cecilia Nathan... could she be part of the Nathan Family?’
She quickly pushed the speculation aside.
’If Cecilia were part of the Nathan Family, how could it have stayed a secret? Besides, Damian Hawthorne would have definitely investigated her background. If there were really something wrong with her identity, he would have found out long ago. What’s more, back when Cecilia was obsessively chasing after Damian Hawthorne, people had already doxxed her. They even dug up when her parents died, but nothing ever linked her to the Nathan Family.’
"Miss Nathan, do you happen to know something about Cecilia Nathan?" Serena Hughes probed. "Her last name is Nathan, and so is yours. Perhaps you two are related?"
"What are you talking about!" Sharon Quincy denied frantically. "There are plenty of people with the last name Nathan. Does that make every single one of them my relative?"
"Oh, I was just making a wild guess," Serena Hughes said, leaning in with a shameless grin. "Miss Nathan, are you here to see Mr. Linden Nathan today? Could you... possibly introduce me?"
’Better to be proactive than to wait around and hope for a lucky break.’
’This is also the perfect chance to test whether Sharon Quincy is an imposter.’
"Introduce you?" Sharon Quincy shot her a sidelong glance. "And who are you? Why should I introduce you? Our families don’t have any connection, so there’s no need for you to meet him. Besides, my father is a very busy man. He doesn’t meet with just anyone."
"Oh? He doesn’t meet with just anyone?" Serena Hughes mused for a moment before asking with feigned innocence, "Then how is it that Cecilia Nathan gets to see him?"
"What did you say?" Sharon Quincy’s lips went white.
"I said, Cecilia Nathan is on her way to see your father," Serena Hughes said, crossing her arms with an air of composure. "You said your father was busy, didn’t you? So how does he have time to see Cecilia?"
Serena Hughes’s words detonated in Sharon Quincy’s ears.
’Linden Nathan is actually meeting with Cecilia?!’
’On what grounds?’
’Who the hell does she think she is, getting to meet Linden Nathan?’
Sharon Quincy gritted her teeth and stalked up the stairs.
The moment she left, Serena Hughes followed right behind her.
Led by a bodyguard, Cecilia Nathan soon arrived on Linden Nathan’s floor.
Inside the presidential suite on the eighty-eighth floor, Linden Nathan paced back and forth, a bundle of nerves.
"Cecilia actually wants to see me. Tell me," Linden Nathan asked the bodyguards in the room, "is this outfit suitable for meeting her?"
His eager yet anxious demeanor took the bodyguards by surprise.
Though they had long been aware of how important Miss Selina Nathan was to him, this was the first time in years they had seen Linden Nathan so on edge.
Linden Nathan ran a massive corporation and had seen it all, but he had never been as nervous as he was right now.
"President Nathan, your attire today is excellent. It’s formal without being standoffish. I’m sure Miss Selina Nathan will approve."
"Good, that’s good." Linden Nathan subconsciously walked to the mirror to check his outfit one more time.
It had been several years since he had last formally met with Cecilia.
The most they had done was see each other on video calls.
Those who knew the situation felt he had been wronged, but only Linden Nathan knew he had also made mistakes in the past.
Although Cecilia was at the center of it all, she still refused to forgive him.
"President Nathan, a call is coming in from Miss Sharon Quincy." A bodyguard held out his phone for Linden Nathan to see.
