I Try To Enjoy My Life But This Woman Keep Calling Me Villain-Chapter 161: Aftermath
"This is the best!"
I chuckle a little as I raise the water and ensure Hilda stays on the pillar I made. Unlike Burab City, we can take a swim in the lake in this oasis city. It looks like the water source in this city is not directly from the lake but rather a water reservoir somewhere underground that is linked to the well around the city.
The water in this reservoir is being built by the third lord of this city, who is a brilliant magician and has a talent that lets him do it. This reservoir will take the water from the lake, automatically take some water from it, and purify it automatically to fill the reservoir.
Because of this, the people can drink the water from the lake and do not need to worry about dirtying the lake. The reason he built this is because Lokah City is a tourist city where many people want to see the beauty of this oasis city. Of course, there is also a reason why the spy from the empire managed to poison the lake and almost cause genocide.
During his reign, many tourists came to this city from the academy and stayed there to enjoy their exclusive food and the beauty of the small forest near the lake. However, because of this, the lake gets dirty, and he creates the same thing that purifies the water in the water reservoir, but this time, it constantly purifies the lake.
It was a fantastic creation, and there is another trump card. If anyone but his blood is ruling this place, the purification will fail, releasing a poison that evaporates the water. Even during the third lord’s rule, when there are a lot of tourists, it is still a bastion against an outside force and prevents an invader, regardless of whether it is a monster or human, from conquering the Varlagan Kingdom.
"Gwyn! Attack!"
I snap from my thoughts when I hear Hilda shouting my name. I look to the side and see Sonia, also creating a pillar of water and slowly approaching Hilda. Looking at the two of them, I smile a little and take out two clothes. I let them float to Hilda and Sonia. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"Let’s play a game! Tie those clothes around your head! Whoever takes over the other clothes is the winner! Sonia! I will take over the water underneath you!"
Sonia nods her head and disables her magic circle while I spread my man into the water underneath her and take control of it. I make sure they can stand on the water and create a platform for them to fight.
"You can think of whatever strategy you want! I will improve on your strategy! Swim inside the water, get out of it, or even use the water to attack your opponent! I will support you both! Start!"
After I said that, they started to move. Hilda quickly dives inside the water, and I make sure to cover her so Sonia cannot see her. Sonia notices what is going on and takes a deep breath. I smile a little as she spreads her mana around. It would work if not for the fact that I use a lot of mana to control the water.
However, to my surprise, Sonia manages to locate Hilda and dodge the incoming attack. I blink for a second before something clicks inside my head. Sonia did not locate Hilda’s mana but rather the movement of mana in the water.
Mana is like air. When something solid goes through it, it will flow past that solid thing. However, unlike air, it will not hinder that solid object’s movement.
I shake my head and look at the fight above what looks like a wall of water. There are people watching the match near us. Some of them are cheering for Hilda, and the rest are cheering on Sonia.
"It looks like I need to learn how to swim faster."
I look at Silva, who is watching the fight with some hint of jealousy.
Silva cannot swim, and the reason why we chose this place as our picnic side is because she wants to learn how to swim. We spend the first fifteen minutes of teaching Silva before Hilda gets an idea, and here we are.
"I know you will learn it sooner or later, Silva. You are a quick learner, after all."
I smile at Silva and see her blush a little. I chuckle a little and continue to watch the fight between Hilda and Sonia. The fight continues to rage on, but I already see who is on the upper hand. Sonia can swim but not as good as Hilda.
Hilda moves like a dolphin in the sea. She easily gets out of the water to confuse Sonia and put her into a defensive position. Sonia has an upper hand in close combat fights but cannot defend Hilda and me as I make an obstacle to make the fight even harder.
I create a small wave, make the water chaotic, and even make a tentacle that will hold them down for a couple of seconds if they get close to the tentacle.
After a minute of hit-and-run tactics, Hilda finally takes the clothes around Sonia’s head. The dark-haired woman cheers as she raises the clothes high. I smile and slowly put them down. They land on the ground, and I smile at both of them.
"Great work, both of you! That was fantastic!"
I look at Hilda, taking out an ice cream from my pocket, and I give it to her before saying.
"Here is your reward for winning the fight."
"What!"
I look at Sonia and see her pouting. I pat her on the head and say.
"What is it, dear?"
"Father! I don’t know if there is a reward for the fight! If I know there is a reward, I will try harder."
I pinch her cheek and say.
"Don’t be a sore loser, dear. Winning and losing in a game is nothing. Be better, and when you win the next fight, I will give you a reward."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
Sonia beams at me and hugs me. Even when it makes my clothes wet, I hug her and pat her head. A minute later, she released me, and I could see a determination inside her eyes. She quickly gets inside the water and starts swimming around.
I can only smile and shake my head. She is a competitive girl, and that is cute.
I decide to join Hilda and Silva, who decide to enjoy the ice cream together while watching over the others. Sonia is swimming while Jonathan and Jullian have a small spar while they are in the water.
"Excuse me, my lord."
I snap from my thoughts and look to the side. I can see a middle-aged man, around his mid-40s, standing near our picnic area. I look at him and say.
"Can I help you?"
"Can we have a small chat in a more private place?"
I look at him for a few seconds and nod.
"Sure. I don’t mind."
I look at my companion and shake my head. I don’t think this man wants to do something to me.
I followed the man to a nearby tree, far away from other people. I look at him and say.
"What can I do for you?"
"I came here by the order of Lord Benham, Grandmaster Gwyndolin."
"I see. What can I do for Lord Benham?"
"First thing first, he wants to apologize for the previous feast. He did not have to do anything about it and wanted to make up with you and your companion, Grandmaster."
"Don’t worry about it. I don’t mind. Let’s get to the point because I want to spend my time with my companion."
"Right. I’m sorry. Anyway, Lord Benham wants to ask you if you know about the curse that hit one of the nobles, one of the vassals to Lord Benham."
"Who is it?"
I hold myself as I prepare for the worst. Do the people manage to locate the source of the curse? Does the [Amnesia] spell not work, and now Amir is telling Lord Benham about me cursing him?
"Do you know the man who disrespected you at the feast? That is him. He is the one who is cursed. Our head magician notices the curse after casting a powerful scanning spell and knows that a powerful dark magician was casting it, and Lord Benham wants you to see if you can check him and his wife if they are cursed as well."
"I see. Him. I did not notice anything last night. I’m sorry. I can check on Lord Benham and Lady Anahita later this evening."
"It is not a problem, and thank you for doing this favor, Grandmaster."
"It is not a problem. So, what happened to that man?"
"He is going insane, and the Head Magician, the only way to cure the curse is to kill him. That will happen in two days."
"Two days? You will kill him to cure the curse?"
"No. For the crime he does. I’m sorry, but I cannot say more. You can ask Lord Benham if you want to know more."
"I will. Anything else?"
"No. That will be all. Enjoy the lake, and thank you for your time, Grandmaster."
