I Received System to Become Dragonborn-Chapter 941: The Boss
Chapter 941: The Boss
Erend’s gaze stayed fixed on the sky. He was not blinking at all.
The swirling vortex overhead crackled with spinning arcs of lightning, and the clouds churned with a weight that felt more than just wind or storm. It was filled with Magic, ancient and powerful Magic.
The Dungeon World had never done this before in any of his past levels.
Still, he didn’t panic.
This world, this strange dimension built for power, never played by known rules. It reshaped itself to test them and maybe roke them. If it wanted to throw a Magic storm down from the sky now, then so be it.
He and Eccar would tear through it just like everything else.
"This Dungeon changes so I guess we just need to keep changing too." Erend thought grimly. freeweɓnøvel~com
After wiping the last of the giant vultures from the sky and ripping through the final wave of land monsters, the battlefield fell into silence.
A silence that feels too complete.
There were always waves and always something new coming before. So this silence just felt wrong.
Erend narrowed his glowing eyes and turned toward Eccar, his voice echoing calmly through their link. "Something’s happening. I don’t know what it is yet. But be careful."
Eccar’s giant head tilted slightly.
"Careful, huh?" His voice was gruff, but his tone wasn’t mocking, more thoughtful. "Sure. But we’re still going to fight it anyway, yeah?"
Erend nodded once. "Yeah. Just... don’t be reckless. This doesn’t feel like the usual rhythm."
The Earth Dragon snorted and rolled his massive shoulders. "I wasn’t planning on dying, if that’s what you mean."
Still, even he felt this strange stillness. The quiet like a breath being held. The desert no longer moved. The winds that once howled through the dunes went still. Even the sand beneath their claws felt tense, somehow.
Then the vortex above pulsed.
And from its churning center, a figure began to descend.
Erend and Eccar lifted their heads in unison. Their Dragon eyes narrowing.
It wasn’t a monster, at least not like the others they faced before.
It was a humanoid figure.
He floated downward slowly with arms at his sides, descending like a god stepping down from the heavens.
His skin was a deep brown, his body muscular and carved with ancient symbols. He wore gold and dark linen robes adorned with ornate patterns, layered with armor pieces shaped like coiled serpents and sunbursts.
No helmet. Just his square handsome face and sharp green eyes that gleamed with cold amusement.
He smiled as he touched down lightly on the sand, unfazed by the sheer presence of two massive Dragons staring him down.
Erend and Eccar exchanged a look through their link.
"What the hell is that?" Eccar asked. "That looks like a man."
"Not a man," Erend replied, his voice like thunder in their minds. "That’s not human. I can feel it. He’s powerful."
"He’s whatt you called a Boss, right?" Eccar guessed.
Erend gave a slow nod. "Exactly. Be ready."
The golden figure chuckled lightly, almost like he heard their conversation.
"So," the being said, his voice rich and smooth. "You two are the new Dragonborn, hm?"
They didn’t respond. Their eyes watched his every movement.
"I was wondering when another Dragonborn would make it this far." He smiled wider. "It’s been asges. I was starting to think you all died off already."
He placed a palm to his chest and bowed slightly. "My name is Setekh-Ra. I am the Boss of this area. A pleasure to meet you."
Then he just moved. Faster than a blink of an eye. A blur of gold and shadow.
Before either of them could speak, Setekh-Ra shot forward, crossing the battlefield like a spear of lightning, the sand behind him exploding from the force of his movement.
He closed the distance in a second.
Erend barely had time to raise a water barrier.
BOOM!
The impact shattered the water shield and sent Erend skidding back through the sand, his claws tearing massive gouges to slow himself.
Eccar lunged forward with a roar. His claws glowing gold as they smashed down. But Setekh-Ra moved mid-air and vanished, reappearing behind the Earth Dragon with a crack of lightning.
Eccar turned, but is was too late.
CRACK!
A golden fist wreathed in Magic slammed into Eccar’s jaw, sending tremors across the desert.
The desert storm raged overhead, lightning cracking and rain pouring down in heavy sheets, but Erend and Eccar paid it no mind. Their focus was locked on Setekh-Ra ,the humanoid Boss who moved with terrifying speed and strength.
Still in his golden-robed form, he danced between their attacks like a phantom, his strikes landing with explosive force.
Erend unleashed spiraling jets of high-pressure water, tearing trenches through sand and air. Geysers erupted beneath Setekh-Ra, trying to catch him off guard. But he weaved through it all then manage to landing precise blows that sent shockwaves through Erend’s scaled body.
Eccar fought with the force of the land, erupting stone from beneath and trying to box Setekh-Ra in with jagged walls and stone spears.
He managed to graze the Boss once. His molten claws ripping through golden energy and drawing a thin line of blood.
Setekh-Ra’s smile faded briefly, but it returned with twice the intensity a second later.
As Eccar leapt high with his claws raised to crush him from above, Setekh-Ra met him in the middle of the air. His fists glowing gold.
He caught the Earth Dragon’s fall and slammed him into the ground.
The impact split the desert open. Sand and stone burst upward. Eccar roared, buried halfway into the earth.
"Eccar!" Erend shouted.
"I’m fine!" came the growl, but pain laced the reply.
Erend surged forward, water spiraling around him again, but Setekh-Ra calmly looked at the blood on his arm and smiled.
"You’re not weak," he said.
Lightning streaked the darkened sky, illuminating the battlefield as silence fell for a heartbeat. The storm churned overhead. Suddenly the rain also start coming the ground.
