I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 80: Sebastian Herrera
"Alright. Your identity is verified. Please move on."
The guard says to the group.
"Thank you, sir!"
Kana shares a warm smile and drives the car inside.
The guards outside wear armor from head to toe. This kind of armor is even more advanced than the ones the goons inside the roof wore.
There isn’t any force field visible around them, but Blaze knows it is there. A slight, almost invisible distortion envelops all the guards.
This is a barrier that can easily withstand a high B-rank power.
When the car crosses inside the premises. Blaze and Alyson can both feel that their power is dampened.
The Central Bank has a Barrier that is always on 24/7.
If a Voidgate suddenly appears and all the personnel are transported away, hell will be unleashed immediately on the Central Bank.
They can’t allow that to happen.
The vast field in the middle of the complex is also the parking lot, which makes it easy for the guards around to observe all the visitors.
Kana drives into an empty spot.
The three walk toward the main building. Blaze glances at the Compound at the side.
It is a military barrack with soldiers and mercenaries coming and going. A large cannon is stationed at the roof of the building, ready to blast any threat that is too much to handle for the guards.
"This place is scary..."
Kana says.
"It is the most important place in Akansa after all."
Alyson says.
The main building has a much older structure style than the Awakened League, with large white poles standing in front.
Inside, a small hall with many counters serving different purposes.
They don’t have any reinforced glass like the Awakened League.
All the visitors are scanned, and their powers are neutralized, there isn’t any point in having them anyway. But Blaze bet the Digital Vault is even more secure.
Ordinary people won’t be entering the Digital Vault, though, the guards won’t let them in unless there is a direct order from the bank.
"Hi, I came to register a credit code."
Blaze steps forward to a counter.
"Certainly, sir. May I ask if you are registering a new credit usage or renewing an old one?"
"A new one."
"Here’s the paper, sir. Please fill everything in."
The staff inside the Central Bank is very professional. They don’t ask any unrelated questions and go straight to the task.
Blaze finishes the paperwork very quickly and stays in the waiting area for them to process the information.
Alyson and Kana don’t even have a conversation. The strict atmosphere of the Central Bank made them too tense to share small talk.
The process is quick. The three only take half an hour from entering the complex until the credit code is created.
There aren’t any waiting days either, a code card is issued to Blaze immediately.
He requests a beneficiary code also, similar to the beneficiary badge for Kana.
This one, however, will take time to make, and Kana will have to visit the office tomorrow to take it.
A digitized version is ready for her to use already, so she only needs to take a physical card if she wants to.
The three leave the premises of the complex soon after.
"Well. That is done."
Blaze says, looking out to the street outside the window.
"Yeah. We can finally rest with our eyes closed. No more worry about the future."
Kana says.
Blaze takes out some of the zips and transfers around a thousand credits to Kana’s beneficiary account. This should be enough for her to buy the groceries and take care of the house. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
This account is directly tied to Blaze, so he can’t pull a lot of credit into it instantly. A small amount can be reasonable.
But a large amount will definitely flag his credit code. Then the Central Bank will question where he gets this money.
Blaze does not want to endure that process. He has to lay low until he gets a suitable explanation for his wealth, like receiving a scholarship from the Academy.
Blaze gives another ten thousand credits in zips to Kana to be sure she is comfortable.
"This is too much, kiddo. I don’t think I need all of this."
Kana says.
"Keep it, Mom. If you need more, just tell me. But try to be extra careful if you use the zips, people may be suspicious of us."
Blaze says.
"Don’t worry, kiddo. I know how to be cunning."
Zips are a special kind of currency. It is still the same as credit, but normal people rarely use it. If someone sees Kana with lots of zips, questions will be raised.
But Kana is wise enough to not let that happen.
"Should we go to Dominic’s house first, or should we go out for lunch? I know just the right place."
Alyson says.
"We are in no rush. Dominic’s family should be having their meal now, too. We shouldn’t intrude at this time.
Let’s have some food first before going there."
Kana says.
"Yeah. We should go to some fancy place for a celebration!"
Blaze says.
"We can’t be wasteful, kiddo!"
"Don’t worry, Mother. I won’t. It’s just a small celebration between us this one time."
"Well, if you say it that way..."
Sometimes later in the afternoon, in Dominic Renly’s house.
The house is full of people that come for the funeral.
The body needs to be put under soon, or else it may decompose, so Dominic’s family has to prepare the funeral quickly.
Dominic’s wife is Asani Renly. Her maiden name was Asani Johnson.
A young wife now has become a widow due to the horror of the Void.
Asani and Dominic have a daughter together that is only a few years old right now. She isn’t even in kindergarten yet.
People come to pay their respect. Most are the family’s relatives and friends. Surprisingly, no police officer came to the funeral today.
It’s as if they don’t care about Dominic at all.
But one cop comes. His name is Sebastian Herrera, former partner of the deceased Dominic Renly.
He drives his patrol vehicle to Dominic’s house. People look at him weirdly and dare not to approach. Police do not have a good reputation in Akansa.
Sebastian is around his late thirties with messy, unkempt brown hair. He wears his black police uniform that is accompanied by a jacket.
His face seems tired and sad, like an old and worn-out track record.
Sebastian takes a deep breath, zipping up his jacket to cover his holster and gun. He gathers all the strength to walk inside the house.
Asani is inside with all the other guests. They are all trying to comfort the widow.
Her eyes are swollen due to excessive crying. Their daughter, understanding nothing at all, looks around with her curious round eyes.
Asani spots Sebastian immediately when he walks through the door.
The guy takes off his hat to show respect and stands there.
Asani lunges at him.
Sebastian still stands in place.
"Why? Why did he lose his Breaker?! What were all of you doing when he was left to die?
Tell me, why?!"
Asani cries profusely, bashing her hands on Sebastian’s chest.
The man does nothing in response. He lets her freak out.
"I’m sorry for your loss, Asani! He was my partner and my best friend."
Sebastian thought a lot about what he had to say. But in the end, all he can do is apologize.
"Dominic is a good man. He did not deserve this fate."
Sebastian grinds his teeth in the end. He knows the true reason why his partner died.
If only Dominic had listened to him and let go of the case. But Adam decided his fate.
I have stood aside and looked for too long. This time, I will make them pay. I will make all of them pay.
Sebastian knows about the Wraith. A single person that brought down the Roof. An organization that even Sebastian despises to the core.
But he didn’t dare to do anything then.
Now, with the footsteps of the Wraith, he shall stand by no longer, and he will take action. He will cleanse the entire Police Force if it is even the last thing that he can do.
At the same time, Blaze’s group enters the house.
Asani looks over to spot the three.
Blaze’s eyes catch Sebastian’s raging gaze.
This man... He thirsts for revenge.
Blaze thinks.
