Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Blaze-Wolf and Shadow

Asani knows she has gone too far. She collects herself and regains her composure.

Tears on her face are being wiped off by her shaky hands.

She lets out a long breath.

"He’s in there. You can pay our respect."

Asani says to Sebastian.

"Thank you, Asa."

Sebastian nods and walks away.

Asani then walks toward Blaze’s group. She remembers this family vaguely.

The only thing that exists in her memory is that Dominic brought the woman to their house once to make sure she had a place to hide from her abusive husband until he cooled off.

"Hi. Sorry for the unsightly scene."

Asani says.

"No. Not at all. I’m sorry for your loss, Mrs. Renly."

Kana holds Renly’s hand.

"Thank you.

I’m sorry, but I forgot your name."

"I’m Kana. This is my son, Blaze, and his friend, Alyson.

Dominic was a kind man. So we wanted to drop by to pay our respect."

"Certainly. Please follow me."

The three follow Asani to where the coffin is placed.

The lid is opened, and Dominic lies inside, motionless and pale, the color of death.

He wears a black suit for his funeral, being formal one last time before going to the lonely plot in the cemetery.

Sebastian is there. He salutes the dead man.

He has no tears or is showing any sorrow. Only a hardened expression with fiery rage hidden inside his eyes.

Blaze also pays his respect as well. Kana places a white flower for the dead at the altar.

There are many flowers here. All from the people that remember him.

Kana stays with Asani to comfort her.

Blaze asks Alyson to stay as well so that he can have time to talk with the cop.

Sebastian is already out of the house, standing in the garden and lighting up a cigarette.

He looks over his shoulder when he hears Blaze’s footsteps.

"I’m smoking, kid. You may not want to be here."

Sebastian says.

"It’s alright. I am used to the smoke."

Sebastian chuckles, holding the cigarette to the side of his mouth.

"Oh, really? Young kids always love to smoke. You do too?"

"No, sir. I just want to ask you some questions."

Sebastian raises one side of his eyebrows. He has used this sentence so many times in his career. Back when he was still a detective.

He lost the job when Adam and the corrupt reigned over Akansa.

"What are you trying to do, kid?"

Blaze sits down on one of the chairs in the garden, observing the sky.

"I was just wondering. Doesn’t a cop have a Breaker device that they can use to teleport themselves out of the Void?"

Sebastian takes one long inhale of the cigarette. He lets out a huge cloud of smoke.

"That is true."

"Then how did Renly die?"

Sebastian doesn’t answer. The kid is sharp. He can tell all the excuses to cover this up.

But he is tired now. He will no longer do such things anymore.

"Kindness. Kindness killed him."

Sebastian also looks up to the sky. Black clouds cover the area, signaling a soon-to-come heavy rain.

"Don’t ask too many questions, kid. It may bring disasters to your home.

This is not a threat but an advice. Don’t do anything stupid."

Blaze doesn’t answer. He watches as the man leaves the house through the gate of the garden.

An interesting man. Maybe he can take over the Police Force once I remove Gulliver. I will need to examine his soul to be sure.

Blaze sends a telepathic message to Isaac, telling him to follow the man. He will need his location to meet him at night.

Isaac’s response echoes in Blaze’s mind.

Leave it to me, Master!

Isaac and William have been gone for a few hours. Blaze ponders what they are doing at the moment.

He returns to the house to share the sorrow with the family.

They spend the afternoon there before driving off.

Kana drives them to the mall to buy some clothes for Blaze.

His mother and Alyson have a great time choosing clothes for Blaze. He, however, only feels exhausted.

Shopping with women can be a chore. He isn’t even this tired when killing goons.

After that, Kana drops Alyson at her apartment, and then she and Blaze drive home.

When they arrive, the sun is already beginning to set.

Blaze comes up to his room to make a clone to protect Kana.

He has nine Genesis in total.

[Available Genesis]

- Normal (No-rank) 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

- Shocking Thunder (A-rank)

- Acidic Jade (D-rank)

- Werewolf Berserker (C-rank)

- Winged Dinosaur (D-rank)

- Living Spirit (C-rank)

- Cursed Wood (C-rank)

- Unstable Canine (C-rank)

- Beast Master (C-rank)

- Transcend Warrior (A-rank)

With 1520 experience points left, the ideal genesis will be C-rank lower. Blaze needs a clone that is best suited for a protection job.

Normal is obviously not the choice. Shocking Thunder and Transcend Warrior are too expensive. Acidic Jade and Winged Dinosaur are too weak.

He has to pick between the five C-rank clones.

Beast Master has no combat power on its own, so Blaze disqualifies it.

Cursed Wood and Living Spirit can be very effective, as they both can turn into a half-spirit state, immune to all physical attacks. However, this ability is not good for protecting others.

Unstable Canine and Werewolf Berserker both have a high stamina attribute. Canine has an ability to focus on speed while Berserker focuses on strength.

The deciding factor is that the Berserker has a hardened protective layer on its skin.

This will prove useful if it needs to shield Kana from harm.

But Blaze does not need to choose at all. He may only have 1520 EXP left, not enough to make two C-rank clones.

But he can consume some souls to fill this small shortage.

The Lantern of the Damned has also finished digestion long ago, another Ethereal Slave slot is opened.

[Lantern of the Damned]

- Equipment Rank: Ultra Rare

- Trapped souls: 75

- Soul Slaves: Snake - William D’Angelo (Clone), Isaac Everdeen (Ethereal), Rachel McAvoy (Alive), Anton Arc (Clone), Hugo Arc (Clone), Mitsuhiro Watanabe (Ethereal).

- Ethereal Slave: 2/3

Blaze pulls out ten unworthy souls and puts them in his mouth.

He chews them like cereal. Their souls are crunchy with a soft cream hidden inside. It melts into your tongue like a fancy dessert.

[You have gained 50 experience points!]

[You have gained 50 experience points!]

Unfortunately, though, all the souls yield the same amount of experience. If they provided the same experience points like their live body, Blaze would’ve bathed in powers right now.

[Remaining experience points: 2020]

Making two C-rank clones will cost 2000 EXP, leaving only 20 EXP left.

Blaze doesn’t feel safe with this small amount. What if he needs to buy a Blood Potion in an emergency?

For good measure, he crunches another ten unworthy souls. They scream out in pain inside his mouth.

Now it’s better.

Blaze continues to create his two clones. Purple energy pours out from his body and splits in two directions.

[Creating clones...]

[Please design the appearance of your new clones!]

The Berserker needs to stick close to Kana so it can shield her. So it needs to be presentable in public in case she goes out.

Blaze chooses his appearance for the Berserker. This won’t attract any attention.

For the Canine, it has the ability to turn into a dog, and its Shadow Dash (C-rank) is a movement superpower.

Blaze doesn’t care what its face is, so he lets the System randomize it. What is important is that the clone must be light in weight with two long legs for quick maneuvering.

[Werewolf Berserker has been chosen as the genome for the new clone]

[Please name your clones!]

"Blaze-Wolf. Shadow."
