I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 55: Family Lunch
Alyson stays alone in an apartment in the city center.
The two take a cab to go to her place so that she can put on some presentable clothes.
The taxi driver looks at them incredibly weird when he picks them up from the crime scene. But the guy doesn’t say anything.
Alyson goes inside the building while Blaze waits at the cab.
The taxi driver finally speaks up.
"What’s happening at the Roof, kid? Do you know?"
The Roof is famous, so even ordinary people know about it. It is logical that they will feel curious about what happened.
"I heard that someone wrecked the place. It sounds like they kidnapped girls around the city to work for them."
"No way! I knew something was wrong with that place!"
The news should be spread eventually, so Blaze has no reason to lie.
The driver continues.
"My friend has a daughter. But she has been missing for a couple of months. Could it be that the Roof kidnapped her?"
Blaze shrugs.
"I don’t know. I would advise your friend to go to the police station to find out. They should have all the information."
"Thanks, kid. I will call them immediately."
The driver takes out his phone to call his friend.
"Charlie! Where are you right now? Listen, there’s been..."
Blaze watches the sky to let time pass by. He told Kana that he will be returning before noon.
It is only ten in the morning right now. He finished everything way before noon. Kana is going to be relieved when she sees him back.
"How do I look?"
Alyson gets out of the building. She wears a one-piece white dress that reaches her kneecaps. Her red hair is floating in the wind, shining under the daylight.
Blaze smiles and takes her hand into his.
"You look perfect! Shall we go?"
Alyson nods blissfully.
The driver finishes his call quickly and drives them to Blaze’s house.
Blaze has zips to pay for the cab, but that may raise suspicion, so Alyson uses her credit code to pay instead.
The credit code is a line of distinguished code that can pay and receive credits with one scan from a machine. It usually is stored inside a card or a file in your digital devices.
Someone even tattoos it on their wrist for convenience.
Alyson lost her code card somewhere in the Roof. But she still has it on her computer. After changing clothes, she prints a new card with the computer to replace the old one.
Back in the house, Kana is anxiously sitting at the table.
She finished cooking everything an hour ago. All she could do from then on was wait and look out the door, hoping to see Blaze return.
Then a cab stops by. She recognizes him immediately from the car window. Along with him is the distinguished red hair of Alyson.
Kana smiles brightly. Her son did it.
She runs toward the door and opens it, welcoming him and his friend to the house.
"I have returned, Mother!"
"I know you will, kiddo."
Pride shines in Kana’s expression. She gives Blaze a warm hug and also embraces Alyson.
"Welcome, daughter-in-law!"
"What! I... Blaze..."
Words choke in Alyson’s throat. She stutters in a cute way.
Blaze laughs out loud.
"Mother is messing with you!"
Alyson blushes intensely. Two pink clouds appear on her white cheeks.
"Alright. Alright. I won’t tease you anymore. Come on in. Lunch is ready."
Kana grabs Alyson’s hand and drags her inside.
It is not the first time Alyson spends her time with Blaze and Kana. The girl lives alone, so she comes by very often.
It’s just that Phuc was there, so the meal can be very awkward. This causes Alyson to come by much less often and only arrive when the pig is out.
"Where’s the guy?"
Alyson looks around.
"You guess."
Blaze says.
"Good riddance. I thought you should have killed him long ago."
"How do you know? What if we just get rid of him?"
Blaze’s brows shoot up in curiosity.
"That man is a maggot. I know he won’t leave in peace."
Kana laughs, placing Alyson down to sit beside Blaze.
"What nonsense are you saying? Of course we didn’t kill him. He just decided to leave us out of the blue."
Alyson understands what Kana’s trying to imply. It’s not good to talk about the murder. People may eavesdrop, so it’s better if they treat him like he left on his own.
"Right. I’m sorry, Mrs. Singer. I was just joking."
"It’s alright, Alyson.
Now, what do you want to eat? You must feel extremely hungry from... going through all that.
I have pasta, beef, and even salmon. I made all the good foods to welcome you back."
"Anything is fine, Mrs. Singer."
Alyson is very anxious. Much more than the previous time she was here.
She and Blaze were friends, so everything wasn’t awkward in the past. But now... she basically told Blaze her feelings already.
"What are you even calling me right now? Call ’Mother’!"
Alyson gulps. Her voice is shaking in response.
"Mot... Mother!"
Blaze covers his mouth, trying his best not to laugh. Alyson pinches his hip to take revenge, but her strength can’t even leave a dent on him.
This makes Blaze laugh even harder.
The warm, cozy moment continues in peace. For everything that has happened in the last two days, they really need that break.
A pause from the crazy world outside.
But nothing lasts forever, especially peace and happiness.
The three finish their meal and spend time together in the living room. They are watching some comedians on TV.
For a moment, they aren’t that different from any ordinary family from the suburbs.
A smooth, shiny black car stops by their house.
A group of men with suits exit the car. They are all bodyguards.
A bodyguard pulls out an umbrella and opens the door of the car.
A gray-haired man steps out. He wears dark sunglasses and is around his fifties.
He and the men approach Blaze’s house.
The nose of the grey-haired man twitches a bit when they walk past the garden.
He looks over to the empty pile of dirt that Phuc was in.
"Someone just died here..."
The bodyguards look at each other and pull out their weapons.
"Withdraw your weapons. We aren’t here to fight."
The man orders, and the guards follow.
The bodyguard in front presses on the doorbell.
The strangers in suits don’t notice a raven flying on top of their heads. Its five yellow eyes observe them for a while before turning back to red.
Blaze comes and opens the door.
"I was expecting you, Mr. Aldrin."
The old man observes Blaze. He knows the kid from a while back. They never met each other, but Alyson said a lot about Blaze.
The boy that she has a crush on.
But the old man didn’t approve of this relationship. Blaze was a trash genes. And trashy isn’t worthy to be friends with his daughter.
"I don’t think we have met."
The old man removes his glasses, revealing a pair of green eyes with slit pupils. From his eyes, a dark green energy shoots out that strikes at Blaze.
Blaze’s eyes glow red, and a dark red energy pushes back and covers the entire space.
The bodyguard feels it. They all step back and bring out their weapons again.
Mr. Aldrin smirks, discontinuing his power.
"A mental superpower? What a surprise! Alyson may actually have a good eye for men.
As I said. I don’t think we have met yet.
My name is Marshall Aldrin, father of Alyson."
