Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Aftermath

Blaze withdraws William from afar and puts him back into the Clone Storage, causing him to disappear in broad daylight.

This causes quite a commotion at the scene as everyone is freaking out.

The Liberty Sons even think that he is a haunted ghost or something.

Blaze also puts Hugo and Anton away. The three find themselves in the pocket dimension of the Clone Storage.

Previously, there were only three stars orbiting in the space. Now there are two more stars.

A red, pulsating shooting star flies around. A smaller blue star with transparent wings attached to it.

Hugo and Anton both observe the stars with a very funny look. Their eyes sparkle like children seeing fireworks for the first time.

"Woah! Look at that giant white star! So warm!"

Hugo says.

"No! Look at that red star. That one is pretty!"

Anton says.

The silence and peaceful state of the dimension are ruined by the newcomer. William is rather surprised when he sees there are other people here.

"Excuse me! Who are you?"

The three look at each other.

"William?!"

"Anton?! Hugo?! Why are you here?"

They know each other to an extent. The three immediately get closer and begin to talk about what happened.

Outside the real world, Blaze finds a secluded alley to unequip the Tattered Cloak and the Tattered Mask.

The Tattered Cloak returns to the Inventory and takes the last empty grid while the Tattered Mask seeps under Blaze’s skin.

Blaze cracks his neck and stretches the muscles of the entire body.

Nothing is better than killing perps first thing in the morning.

Blaze closes his eyes and connects to Isaac’s vision. The raven stands on one of the electrical cables on the street to observe everything. Blaze’s eyes take over Isaac’s eyes.

The raven lingers back at the scene to make sure everything is handled correctly.

Authority officials were inside the Roof. Blaze can’t guarantee that the police are not corrupted and won’t do anything to the girls.

So he ordered Isaac to stay back and watch.

But it seems like not every cop is corrupted. They treat the captives professionally and do not seem to have any ulterior motives.

Blaze disconnects the vision. Everything seems alright. The Liberty Sons and other heroes are also there. No one should dare to do anything shady with so many eyes around.

"I should come over and pick up Alyson as well."

Under his true appearance, Blaze Singer once again returns to the premise around the Roof.

Someone gave Alyson a blanket to cover herself with. She is speaking with a female cop and providing testimony about the incident.

She notices Blaze immediately when he appears.

"Blaze!"

Alyson’s voice is high and filled with happiness. She runs over to Blaze and hugs him tightly.

Blaze wore the Tattered Cloak in the past, so he didn’t notice anything weird when he hugged Alyson. But now, he can feel the soft tissue pressed on his chest.

This makes him a little bit embarrassed. He scratches his head and doesn’t know what to do.

But Blaze hugs her back in the end. They embrace each other in the middle of this chaos.

The female cop walks over.

"So you must be the boyfriend?"

Blaze smiles.

"Not yet. But we are very close friends."

Alyson also blushes. She just now realizes the intimacy they were in.

The female cop chuckles a bit.

"Well. I hope you two will make it official soon. She has just experienced a very traumatizing situation.

We will need her to testify and provide more details about the event.

But for now, she can leave. It’s better for her to stay with someone she can trust.

We will invite her to the station later when she is needed."

"Thank you, officer!"

Blaze says.

"It’s our duty. Now if you excuse me, I need to take the names of other victims as well."

And the cop leaves.

Ranas has a very efficient identification system. The police can quickly identify the captives, so they do not need to keep them for long.

The girls are also victims of human trafficking. And the police found many of their high officials inside the Roof when they stormed the place.

The authorities have to tread very lightly, or they will be burned at the stake by their own people.

For those many reasons, the current chief has decided to be extra gentle with the victims.

"You’re taller..."

Alyson says, looking up into Blaze’s eyes. He is one head taller than her, but she remembers he was shorter.

"Haha. It’s because of the powers."

"I thought so, too."

They find a place to sit down, both observing the chaotic scene unfold. The police try their best to maintain order, but the press is already here.

One of the most notorious entertainment establishments being brought down by one single man is no small event.

The kidnap, the captives, and the corrupted. All will soon be exposed under a hot headline.

"Aren’t you going to tell them who did it, Blaze?"

"Why should I?"

"Well, you know, so they can feel gratitude toward their savior."

"I didn’t do it for them. I came here for you."

Alyson’s heart skips a beat when she hears that. She rests her head on Blaze’s shoulder.

"Thank you for coming."

"And thank you as well."

"Why do you thank me?"

"If it weren’t for you, I may have given up. Thank you for being there when I was weak."

Alyson smiles sweetly, her feet dangling like a little kid.

"What are you going to do next?"

"First I need to register with the Awakened League to get my power badge. Then I will need to open a credit code with the Central Bank."

"I’m not talking about that, idiot.

What I meant was... what are you going to do next with your power?"

"Hmmm."

Blaze killed Phuc because he hurt his family. Blaze killed the bullies because they hurt him. Blaze killed the Nocturnal Animals because they hurt Alyson.

Then he destroyed the Roof to rescue her. He did everything out of vengeance.

Now, there is actually time for Blaze to decide what to do next.

There are still threats lingering in the background. Giancarlo Cavalcante, the Iron Knight. Then the mysterious Bunny Man in the Abyss. Blaze also needs to deal with them eventually.

But that is far ahead in the future.

"How about cleaning out our hometown?"

The Roof wasn’t the only human-trafficking operation in Akansa. There are other criminal gangs in this city.

Blaze needs to kill to get stronger, so he’s just going to kill them all.

"That sounds good."

Alyson hugs Blaze, squeaking excitedly.

Blaze pats her head.

Batrick goes past the two of them. He recognizes Blaze instantly.

"Oh! Stadium Destroyer! Why are you here?"

What is this nickname?

Blaze smiles stiffly.

"I came by to pick her up."

"A friend of yours was kidnapped too?"

"Yes. But thanks to whoever is out there, she is rescued now."

"Let me tell you something you’re not going to believe! Do you want to know who saved these girls?"

Batrick looks around, making sure no one is nearby to eavesdrop. He speaks quietly, looking suspicious like a thief.

Alyson chuckles.

"Who saved them?" Blaze says.

"It was a creature we encountered in the Void! For some reason, it came into our world and attacked his place!"

"Oh, really?"

"Yeah! Let me tell you how strong it was..."
