Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Potential of a Zero

June looks over to the doorway, and there it is, the handsome boy that used to have a grudge with Blaze. Well, used to is an understatement. He still hates Blaze with all his being.

The pretty boy, Tyler Underhill.

Accompanying him are several men who are around his age. If Blaze is here, he should be able to recognize them. They are all the students of his previous schools.

Zero, on the other hand, has not even the slightest clue who they are. Blaze hasn’t provided it with commands to react to these people.

Originally, Blaze didn’t think there was a need for it.

"Hey there, pretty girl. Still selling stuff?" Tyler says with a mocking tone.

"Ugh! Leave me alone, Tyler. I do not want to speak with you." June rolls her eyes and turns her back to them, pretending to arrange the shelves.

Zero has finished its refill, so it turns to the door and leaves. However, Tyler steps in front of it.

"Whoa, hold it right there! Isn’t this the expelled student, Blaze Singer? Not going to apologize for what you did to me in front of the Pocket Center, are you?"

Tyler raises his upper lip and lifts his chin high, provoking Zero. All tactics are in vain in front of a soulless clone.

"Move out of the way, please." Zero says in its monotone voice.

"Please?" Tyler covers his chest and acts all surprised. "When did our genius become so polite? Please? Hah! Fucking coward.

You were so arrogant when we were alone. Now you’ve suddenly become so timid. What’s gotten into your mouth, eh?"

Zero doesn’t answer and walks around Tyler. But the other guy that is with Tyler stops Zero.

"Move out of the way, please." Zero repeats his last line with the exact tone of voice.

The guy who accompanied Tyler observes Zero closely. "Are you sure this is Blaze? He acts like a robot."

"It could be an android." Another guy says. "Try blocking its way again."

They repeat the same thing, and Zero repeats its line.

"Hah! It really is an android." Tyler says.

"Since it is not human, should we beat it up?"

"That sounds tempting."

"I wouldn’t do that if I were you. The owner of that android is an A-Rank Awakened." June speaks out from behind.

She can’t believe that Zero is an android. She saw it sweat like a true human being. She thinks maybe he just tries to do some act to avoid beating the shit out of these morons.

June saw Blaze go toe-to-toe with those mini tanks before. He can easily send all these men to the hospital or, worse, the morgue.

"A-Rank Awakened? Pfftt! Please, June! I know this kid, he is only a trashy." Tyler says out loud.

"Oh, really? Then the Blaze Singer that joined me in the Assessment must be someone else then?"

"Assessment? You were with him in the Awakened League?" Tyler squints his eyes, trying to tell if June is speaking the truth.

June shrugs her shoulder. "You guys can find out for yourselves. Why don’t you take a swing at him?"

Then all the guys look at Zero. Except for its enormous amount of sweat, Zero is emotionless, cold as a corpse. They unconsciously move away from Zero.

A-Rank Awakened is not a joke. An A-Rank can easily crush them physically and socially. They are hotheaded teenagers, sure. But this society does not forgive easily. A grudge from an A-Rank can ruin them.

A friend of Tyler’s whispers in his ear. "Let’s get out of here. I don’t know if that’s an android, a clone, or just the guy doing some act. We are not going to mess with an A-Rank."

Tylet laughs out loud and points at the other kids.

"Are you guys for real? One simple lie from a store clerk and you are now all afraid? Where are your balls at? Did they drop off?

Let me show you how I beat the shit out of this kid!"

While Tyler is going on with his speech, Zero observes him carefully.

It murmurs so quietly that no one else can hear.

"Violent threat. Execute order of self-defense."

Blaze did give it an emergency tactic in case it needs to protect itself.

Zero opens his right palm. All the other guys immediately scatter away, leaving only Tyler in place.

Tyler furrows, doesn’t understand why his mates are overreacting. When he turns back, he can see Zero is opening his palm and standing still.

"What? Are you guys scared just because he opens his hand?

Do you guys see? Nothing happens at all."

The other guys sweat and look at each other. They have their doubts about June’s words, but no one wants to test it.

"Let’s just get out of here, Tyler. It’s not worth it."

"Shut the fuck up! I will beat the shit out of this kid!"

Tyler remembers that flick from yesterday very well. Blaze embarrassed him in front of the whole crowd. Now he is here for payback.

Tyler reaches out his right arm, a sword manifests inside his palm. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

June in the back is holding a camera, recording everything.

"This should be sufficient evidence for the insurance.

Hey, Tyler! I warn you one last time! If you don’t stop now, whatever happens, that is because of you!"

"Shut up, woman!"

Tyler growls and dashes at Zero.

A few minutes ago, Blaze was deep in his sleep when he suddenly heard some kind of ringing near his ear.

"What... What is going on?" Blaze presses on the alarm clock, but the ringing keeps continuing. He finally opens his eyes and looks around the room.

The Sun Bird, in its golden glory, is shaking heavily on the table. Someone is calling to it.

Blaze opens up his Clone window to check Zero’s Status.

"Hmm. That’s weird. Zero is currently equipping Sun Bird. So the only one that can summon it is Zero.

But why did you get yourself into trouble so soon in the day?"

Blaze touches his temple with his two fingers.

"Isaac, are you there?"

"Yes, master?"

"Can you locate Zero for me? He should be on the highway."

"Yes, master!"

After Isaac ’hangs up’, Blaze picks up the Sun Bird and throws it out the window. The Sun Bird turns into a golden beam and flies away.

"Hmm. Having one raven is a little inconvenient, I should have another raven as well for communication. Isaac should be good for scouting."

Blaze has more than a hundred souls inside his Lantern, there should be a suitable candidate in there.

"Oh, well. I think about it later."

Blaze jumps on the bed and continues to sleep. He still hasn’t recovered from all the fighting last night.

The Sun Bird screeches through the air, flying itself at a high velocity.
