I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 119: True Sun
Cerun-Kha, the god of fissures and opportunity.
Bachesaten, the god of waves and war.
Avanotep, the god of vibration and life.
The three gods of the True Sun. The True Sun is a minor and obscure religion in Ranas. It is so obscure that only its followers know about its existence.
Contrary to normal religions, the followers of this religion are forbidden from spreading any information about it to outsiders. They can pray, publicly worship, and show appreciation to these gods. But they can never speak a word about them.
According to Adam’s memory, these gods are the most ancient beings in existence, much older than the new gods that the people of Ranas are believing in.
These gods are called only by the title ’Old Lords’. Whether it is praying or mentioning your gods, they must always be called that way.
Blaze looks deeper inside Adam’s youth, and he finds out something even more bizarre.
Adam Gulliver and Zach Dunn were both friends from an early age. But they had very bad genetics that could only awaken E-rank powers.
This rank is not the worst but doesn’t have any advantage to your career either.
But Adam and Zach were ambitious. They wanted more than being nobodies.
And then one fateful day, a woman named Cassie met them and invited them into the True Sun.
Their cult wanted nothing but Adam and Zach’s loyalty to the religion. In exchange, Cassie would provide them a path to increase their power ranking.
Adam and Zach were desperate then. So they believed in her. They thought no harm would come of it. If the cult couldn’t empower them, they would only leave.
But to their wildest imagination, the ritual worked, and they were both reborn as B-rank Awakeners.
For an E-rank Awakener that had no option nor wealth to acquire Extraction Pills, that was no different than a miracle. So they devoted their life and belief to the True Sun.
Their power changed as well.
Adam’s original power was Blood Manipulation. But its E-rank version was only able to change the sugar volume in the blood, which would result in a sugar crash for Adam.
A useless power.
Zach, on the other hand, had a somewhat useful power. He could manifest whatever he has in his mind. The mere description of this power alone sounded very impressive. But Zach couldn’t manifest anything usable. The best things he could create were kitchen utensils that he knew very well.
And then they were transferred to a secret location with their eyes blinded and ears stuffed. Adam lost consciousness for most of the ritual, and Blaze can only see a glimpse of the structure there.
After the ritual, their useless powers become what they are today.
One had the Blood of the Divine, and the other could summon armor and weapons that only existed in the bible of the True Sun.
Blaze finally understands what Zach meant previously. Zach asked him who he serves. Blaze was confused then, but it seems like Zach thought Blaze was similar to them.
The rest of Adam’s memories are nothing special. Once he had the power, Adam and Zach slowly became corrupted.
They used their God-given power to gain an upper edge in life and then became Commissioner and Deputy of Akansa City.
Blaze has no problem with them being a little selfish. He too makes use of his power to aim for a better life for him and his loved ones.
But Adam and Zach lost their way. In the end, what matters most to Adam is only his income.
"My income is x and my expenditure is y. What matters is to enlarge my X, and the rest does not concern me." Adam said to Zach in one of their conversations.
Blaze releases Adam from his grasp. Adam falls on the floor, feeling extremely disoriented.
"They’re coming in, Wraith." Sebastian looks out the window and says,. "You should go."
Sebastian is still officially a police officer of the ACPD, so his presence will bring no suspicion.
"Don’t worry. I’ll leave soon."
Blaze helps Adam get up, acting all caring and even fixing his hair. This causes Adam to be very concerned.
"Did I do something wrong, master?" Adam’s body constricts, ready for any pain to come.
"No. It’s just that you are nothing more than puppets for your gods. Those blank periods in your memory. Ever curious what happened to them?"
Similar to Nadyr, Adam also lost a lot of his memories. Whatever these beings want, they must be needing mortal shells like them to do something in this world.
Blaze doesn’t know what they are conspiring. But he intends to find it out soon.
Adam trembles when Blaze mentions the blank period.
"Can you help me get them back?"
"Sure. If you’ll be a good boy and do exactly as I say, maybe I will give them back to you one day."
"Thank you, master! Thank you, master!"
Adam bows repeatedly to Blaze, expressing his extreme gratitude.
Blaze pats his shoulder gently, reassuring the guy. He, of course, is lying. These criminals do not deserve the truth from him. But maybe he will keep the guy. If he finds a suitable use for Adam.
"I’ll be leaving now." Blaze turns to Sebastian. "My raven will be around. If you need to contact me, call it."
Isaac flies in a circle around the window. He hovers closely for Sebastian and Adam to see.
"Understood, Wraith." Sebastian nods.
"I’ll do my best, master!"
Blaze turns into a dark, inky shadow and seeps under the ground. His shadow turns into a thin strip and dashes away from their vision.
Sebastian glances at Adam, starting their reunion with a kick to his head.
Adam doesn’t fight back, only screams in pain.
"Why the hell did you do that?"
"The Wraith may keep you to maintain the order for this city. But don’t think that I forgive you. I remember everything you did."
Adam clenches his fists, trying to summon his power from before. But nothing happens, he only feels dizzy and drops down on the floor. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
The blessing he received from Cerun-Kha has already disappeared.
In an unknown place far, far away from Ranas.
Cerun-Kha, in his white and gold loose tunic, throws his golden cup on the ground. All the servants cringe from his rage and dare not speak a word.
"It dares eat my Divine Energy! Despicable demon!"
Cerun-Kha roars. His scream is heard across this realm.
"Summon Darai-La. I want this demon found!"
"Yes, my lord!" The servants shout in unison.
