I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 117: The Chief Returns
The letters are carved into the ground. The strokes are ferocious and violently engraved. It represents the essence of the Wraith to its core. Blaze bets whoever sees this sentence will have a long-lasting impression.
He then finds a quiet corner to sit down. He hasn’t had time to carefully check the system notifications throughout the fight.

[Experience Points: 13,270]
"Ah. My cumulative experience point has reached five digits for the first time.
But why is it a little bit more than I thought?.
Blaze mumbles.
A-Rank only needs 5000 EXP. S-Rank needs double that amount: 10,000 EXP. And the next level of S-Rank requires a whopping amount of 100,000 EXP.
Blaze only knows this because Genesis Legion is able to be upgraded for 100,000 EXP. But what exactly the rank after S is, Blaze doesn’t know.
It is not common language for normal people. The ordinary citizen only knows the F to S rank.
Blaze won’t be surprised if there are more higher ranks.
Prior to tonight, Blaze would have used all the experience points to upgrade Thunder Force or Lightning Ascension to S-Rank. But after this battle, he now knows that a high-ranking power alone is not enough.
"I need to think about spending this later. Now, let’s check the experience notifications."
Blaze swipes the transparent windows. There are a lot of notifications, Blaze only cares about the last one.
[You have gained 250 experience points!]
[Your Clone (Hutton) has killed a B-Rank Awakened! You have gained 250 experience points!]
[You have gained 100 experience points!]
[Your Clone (Hutton) has...]

[You have gained 250 experience points!]
[You have killed a hostile projection of a commander of the Sun Empire! You have gained 5000 experience points!]
Blaze has found the reason for his unusual count of experience points. Similar to Zach, Adam has also provided additional points because he has tied with the Sun Empire.
"What really is this kingdom? And what is its connection to my Sun Bird?
So many questions and so little time to answer."
Blaze temporarily throws the concern behind his head. He will get back to this later.
"Let’s check the mission window."
[Mission: Kill the Police Chief

2. Sub Reward: (Unknown)]
[Main Objective is completed. You can finish the mission right away to receive the rewards.]
[Finish the mission?]
[Yes/No]
Blaze wastes no time to press ’No’. It is idiotic to give up on the optional objective now that he knows he can complete it eventually.
"Everything seems fine now. But there is more to be done."
Blaze returns to the main building of the Police Headquarters. The A-Force and Sebastian have also climbed out of the giant hole.
"We will be leaving now," Thomas says. "You want to say anything?"
"What do you mean?"
"Do you have any orders?"
"Argh. Just act like you always do and do your usual job. I’ll be in touch if I need you."
"I’ll understand. Then we will return to the aircraft."
The Crimson takes out a small chip from the back of his head and gives it to Blaze.
"A connector to our secured communication line. You can use it to get in touch with us."
Blaze nods and takes the small black chip.
A huge aircraft slowly lowers down from the sky. It has a big cargo hold that opens up for the A-Force team to jump in.
For the A-Force, tonight’s mission was no different than any other mission that they went through. But they left the aircraft as agents of Ranas and returned to it as servants of the Wraith.
They haven’t been thinking much about this due to the short time frame and imminent threat from Adam.
But now that they have time, they silently contemplate inside.
The Brutalist jumps into the aircraft first. He doesn’t look back outside or give Blaze a look. In the end, he can’t accept reality.
"Leave as a warrior and return as a slave. What a joke..." Louis mumbles.
Next is the Runner, jumping into the aircraft effortlessly. He is the least worried of all the members of the A-Force.
"Whatever happened, happened. We can’t change it." Philip says.
The Harpist follows, creating a translucent pink wave to lift herself up into the aircraft.
"I am glad that I was resurrected. My time with Thomas doesn’t end yet." Geraldine says.
The Swordmaster places his black sword on his back. The sword sticks on to him without any strap or devices. He enters the aircraft with black smoke pouring from his feet.
"The Wraith is a questionable being. We may not be able to get out of his hand. But at least we are fine... for now."
The Crimson salutes Blaze.
"I hope you will keep your promise."
"At ease, soldier. I’ve never broken a promise before."
Thomas nods and turns his back to Blaze.
"I know that this city is corrupt. I, too, want to do something about that. But what we want just isn’t going to cut it.
We can fight. We can destroy our enemies. But politics...
That is something that we can’t put our feet in. As strong as we are, we have people we care about, and going rogue will only bring harm to them.
The Police of this city turned stale a long time ago. The City Council did nothing about it.
I have a feeling that they, themselves, are also corrupt..."
"I know what you’re saying, Crimson of the A-Force." Blaze lets out a laugh. "I’ll cleanse this city clean. From top to bottom if I need to."
The Crimson nods and jumps into the aircraft. That is all he wants to hear from Blaze.
And his little nod, that’s his way of saying that he and his team are now pawns for Blaze.
Sebastian stands beside Blaze and accompanies him in observing the aircraft slowly leaving.
"The A-Force Bird. I wanted to be in one of them when I was young." Sebastian says.
"Then how did you end up in SID?" Blaze turns to Sebastian.
"That’s a long story. Maybe I’ll tell you someday when we have time."
"You are right. We have a more important matter at hand.
The people of Akansa will be here soon, and the city will need to have an answer for them.
The destruction of the Police Department will also cause chaos amongst the criminal society. They will try their best to exploit this city while the police are at their weakest."
"Then what do you suggest?"
"I’ll suggest we let Adam return as the Commissioner for now."
"You want to resurrect him?" Sebastian says. "Like what you do with Dominic?"
"It’s not resurrection. I’m just making a physical body for his soul to reside in."
"That’s resurrection."
"Fine. It’s resurrection."
"I think that’s a great idea, Wraith. Removing Adam now will only cause more chaos.
If you can resurrect him and control him so that he can pass his position to a good cop, then we can avoid a lot of trouble."
"Hmm. That is actually exactly what I was intending to do. You have a good mind about this sort of thing, Herrera.
Do you want to be the next police chief?"
Sebastian shakes his head profusely.
"No way! I’m a gun for hire. My specialty is killing, not dealing with people and managing police of an entire city."
"I think you’d be a great fit, actually. You have a sharp mind and a very unique power. All the traits for a good leader."
Blaze and Sebastian enter the ruined building. They go inside Adam’s office, and Sebastian immediately starts rummaging around.
"What are you doing?" A question mark bounces on Blaze’s head.
"Finding evidence, obviously. We may need it if we want to prosecute Adam and his accomplices."
"That won’t be necessary."
Suddenly, purple energy pours out from Blaze, and a new, pristine body of Adam Gulliver materializes into existence.
Then, Blaze pulls Adam’s soul out of the Lantern of the Damned and slaps the mark of slavery on him.
Adam’s soul screams in the entire process, which makes even Sebastian shiver slightly.
Blaze lets the soul merge into Adam’s new body.
"Adam Gulliver, welcome back from the dead."
