I Have a Dice Left by a God-Chapter 422 - 14: The Dialectics of the Path
After tidying things up, Lin Fei continued her work, needing a better proposal. There’s not much hope for the arts anymore, but she could consider interviewing the Celestial Principle Academy, which has been quite popular lately, to see if they’re interested.
The Celestial Principle School has risen in Dragon Capital in recent years, reportedly originating from Hedan, the city of liberty and democracy. Upon entering Dragon Capital, it quickly gained recognition from many, with its principles resonating with the awakening consciousness of the populace. Quite a few ideas align closely with those once held by Governor Luthor, though the Celestial Principle School offers a more systematic organization, acknowledging the influence of great governance ideas from Luthor. This connection, along with the foundational groundwork laid by Governor Luthor, has been significant in the rapid expansion of the Celestial Principle School.
The Celestial Principle School cooperates with the upper echelons of Dragon Capital, primarily teaching at the Canon Law School, not accessible to the general public. Yet, every lecture at the Canon Law School is packed. Recently, the Celestial Principle School produced a Demigod, indicating its compatibility with the Sixth Epoch laws, aligning with celestial principles. Moreover, a mysterious Saint emerged, reportedly having greater influence within the Celestial Principle Academy than even the Demigod. He performed the ’Five Questions and Five Answers’ of celestial principle that shook the entire Celestial Principle School, now immortalized in their core classics. This ’Five Questions’ directly led to a peak in the school’s popularity at the Canon Law School.
Although limited by some considerations from the leadership, the Celestial Principle School hasn’t expanded yet, but its acceptance among the elite and student classes is considerably high.
If an interview with the Celestial Principle School could be secured, it would undoubtedly elevate the newspaper’s caliber, Lin Fei intended to give it a try.
Li Xin returned to his room to continue rushing his manuscripts. He’d produced four volumes already, intending to speed through the remainder in the following days. Dantes, upon obtaining the treasure, would start to show off, the sense of anticipation already at its peak; revenge undoubtedly represents a high point in the novel’s thrills.
He planned to use some manuscript fees to buy new clothes for Aunt Fei and Xueyin. Beauties ought to dress strikingly, and as Xueyin is growing up, candy can no longer placate her. Girls need a rich upbringing, lest they be deceived by boys with dyed hair.
The typewriter’s tapping echoed into the night. Lin Fei went downstairs for water, seeing the light from Li Xin’s room still aglow, with the sound of the typewriter emanating from inside. Typewriters are fairly common in Dragon Capital and quite routine; Lin Fei was swift in operating them. Their editorial office even had a few, surprising Li Xin might also possess one, perhaps due to some other Night Patrol task.
Lin Fei used to disapprove of Li Xin becoming a Night Patrol, but after many experiences, she understood that the world isn’t kind to those who escape from reality. Everyone has a path to walk, regardless of setbacks, eventually finding themselves on that destined road.
Perhaps being back in Dragon Capital, close to family, has invigorated Li Xin’s spirits. His fingers flew over the typewriter keys, immensely focused. Writing can be tiring if done all day, with a break leaving one yearning for the process. Taking advantage of good momentum, Li Xin certainly aimed to produce more work.
He battled with the lamp into the wee hours until around 1 AM before sleeping, once again marveling at his diligence before bed, thinking, "Looking across Dao Yuan, who else but me?"
After working, he slept soundly. As the clock tower in Dragon City struck 3 AM, a call from the Twelve Zodiac Star Disc arrived.
Beneath the starry dome, constellations sparkled, lighting up one by one as members of the Twelve Zodiac Star Disc arrived.
Miss Aries, Mr. Leo, Mr. Cancer, Mr. Taurus, Mr. Libra, Mr. Gemini; six members of the Round Table Conference arrived, leaving Virgo’s seat still empty.
"Good evening, everyone." Seeing Li Xin arrive, Estella’s voice involuntarily carried a hint of joy.
"Good evening, Miss Aries."
When the others saw Mr. Gemini, they all smiled, except for Mr. Cancer, who proudly lifted his head, thinking to himself that good people die young while bad people linger for a thousand years, like Gemini, who isn’t easily gone.
"Mr. Gemini, you missed the last Round Table Conference. Everyone was worried. Is everything resolved?" Cantona asked.
"Fortunately, it’s taken care of. Thank you all for your concern," Li Xin replied with a smile.
"I wasn’t concerned; Gemini isn’t a child. Someone might think we’re the Round Table Grace Class," Christian remarked lightly.
Everyone chuckled, having grown accustomed to Mr. Cancer’s arrogance.
"Let’s begin our sharing then," Estella said. "Recently, I’ve had certain insights about divine favor. Why do Divine Favoreds receive the Deity’s grace at birth, possessing excellent capabilities in learning Hidden Power?"
"Is divine favor a blessing?" Cantona said, "It seems no one truly considers this question; everyone only thinks about acquiring divine favor."
"Could it be possible that the Deity selects a portion of humans endowed with traits they require? Rather than a blessing, it’s a demand?" Estella asked. Previously, she wouldn’t entertain such thoughts. Yet, after the Golden Tree event and the ideological broadening from the Celestial Principle School, her self-awareness fully awakened, unable to perceive such a relationship as divine favor. At most, it’s a transaction. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"Miss Aries, your thoughts are perilous. I can’t answer; no one has ever thought this way before," Cantona remarked with surprise, "Perhaps Mr. Cancer and Mr. Gemini could provide answers."
At the Round Table Conference, Cancer appeared rebellious but was actually conventional, while Gemini seemed conventional but was extremely rebellious.
With Taurus placing himself first, Christian remained quite pleased. "Miss Aries’s thinking is great. In various hidden paths, the success of Divine Favoreds seems easiest," he said, sensing everyone’s gaze, continuing, "and indeed, it’s the easiest. On various paths, the rate of achieving Angel, Great Angel, and even acquiring divinity is highest. Principally, I agree with Miss Aries’s notion; we, at the Round Table Conference, are unique, limiting ourselves to such thoughts. Yet, this is the Hidden Path. To gain, one must pay; Divine Favoreds are no exception. Although unsure of the cost, it’s already far better than other treacherous paths."
Christian greatly admired Miss Aries’s "awareness," unlike those tedious, conservative women.
Among the members, Leo spoke very little, his hidden knowledge lacking. Simmons belonged to the type who bided his time, observing more while speaking less. It seemed this palace upheaval completely overturned Princess’s thoughts. Really, he himself was no different; Divine Favoreds sound unkind, like domesticated pets.
Everyone looked towards Mr. Gemini. Despite Mr. Cancer’s lengthy speech, they were eager for Gemini’s perspective. Actually, Cantona was more curious about what could trouble someone like Gemini. Gemini must be formidable; even though his Life Star activated slowly, Cantona had seen powerful figures whose Life Star layers were low but power was astounding. This seemed related to the Divine Relic, yet there were those without the Divine Relic still remarkably strong.
Li Xin pondered for a moment and said, "Once, I received an insight from a departed predecessor, which I’ll share with everyone: if the path before you is perfectly clear, you’re walking someone else’s path."
