Overpowered Wizard-Chapter Ch65: Ending With Another Restart (End of Overpowered Wizard)
Years later, Zarian woke up in a dank cave with ragged clothes and no items on his person. He wasn’t alone as he heard the groan of a familiar woman.
Sitting up, he saw her rising onto her knees while wearing the same ragged clothes he had on. She was … Naomi … and knowing that made him happy for a reason he couldn’t quite remember right now.
When their eyes met, there was no hostility, only mischievous challenge. She was a naughty one, that Naomi.
Another sound stole their attention. They approached the source carefully and found a very petite elf woman.
She was slowly waking up while adorned in the same poor clothing as them. It didn’t seem to fit her whatsoever, and Zarian felt annoyed that the elf was being treated so cruelly. Naomi said her name was Ruvaria, and Zarian knew that was true.
The little elf woman looked up at them both, worried at first until a glint of recognition shone from her beautiful emerald eyes. Zarian and Naomi offered Ruvaria their hands and waited for the elf to accept their aid as if they were her stalwart defenders.
She accepted them both demurely and was pulled up onto her dainty feet. Because Zarian was obviously the bigger and stronger one of the trio, he positioned himself at the front near the only way out of the dank cave. The exit was a dark tunnel, the foreboding shadows hiding whatever lurked within.
He stood guard as the ladies spoke of profiles that had their stats, traits, and skills. They were Level 1, but their stats seemed high for Level 1. Zarian pulled up his own profile.

Zarian knew his memories weren’t quite right. For one, he knew the names of the women behind him even though he couldn’t recall exact details. His heart felt lighter in their presence, and his body was flushed with pleasant heat as if he were deeply familiar with them.
He felt they were important and would fight tooth and nail for them, hence why he watched the only way in and out carefully.
Beyond that, he wasn’t sure why he was so old, and he couldn’t quite recall who the Floridian Gods were and why he had those stats and abilities. He tried to peer deeper into his traits and skills, but he couldn’t. He lacked a certain power that would Identify these abilities. He would just have to trust that they would work.
When he opened the achievements, he gained a well-forged sword and an amulet that blocked death once a week. They appeared out of thin air, already in hand or on his neck. He also received some quirky messages that left him even more confused.
He was a hero? And apparently he had powerful friends who were going to monitor him and his low-level adventures.
Where were these friends? Had they tossed him into this dank cave as part of some joke? He didn’t appreciate their hazing and ought to give them a piece of his mind.

“Why so mad?” Naomi asked with a catty grin. “You’re here with us two beauties. I don’t see any problems.”
“Hm. I believe we’re in a restart. Did I do this to myself on purpose?” Ruvaria mused, her face turning red as she was held closely by Naomi. The little elf held her bearing, speaking of things that confused Zarian, making her sound mad. “I seem to like you two dearly. Did we agree to restart together and tamper with our memories for the sake of authenticity?”
“Why would I agree to that? What’s the point of obscuring what we are and who we know?” Zarian narrowed his eyes. “Maybe this is the work of devilry? We better keep our wits about us and stray not toward unwanted temptation.” 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
A sudden draft blew out of nowhere, and Zarian could’ve sworn he heard … laughter? Drunken laughter. Vile fiends! Who dared make a mockery of their plight and laughed?!
Ruvaria turned to look in the direction the wind blew from with wide eyes. And Naomi chuckled as her smile became sharper.
“Oh, don’t tell me you’re one of those holier-than-thou types? Watch it. I might … corrupt you.” She made devil horns with her fingers on her forehead. “I can be a bit of a witch.”
Zarian steeled himself as he looked away from the swiveling motion of her wide hips. “Tempt me not. My course stays true and righteous. However, I will lead you out of whatever demeaning trap this is.”
And hopefully find the devils who were making fun of them and give them a proper thrashing.
“I can do magic.” Ruvaria raised her palm and formed a dancing flame. “I can be of aid to you, sir and ma’am. Then once we get somewhere civilized, I can conduct research and see what’s truly amiss.”
“Hm, that can be useful, especially the research part. While I shouldn’t trust witches, I feel a bond with you, little elf. Let me see how you do in the face of danger.” He nodded to Ruvaria before giving Naomi a side-eye. “As for you … be on your best behavior.”
“No promises.” She pointed toward the way out of the cave. “I don’t think whatever’s coming to greet us deserves my best behavior.”
Just when she finished speaking, a rattling noise reached their ears. Something unholy shuffled out of the tunnel and entered the dim light. It was only now that Zarian realized there shouldn’t be any light. There were no lit torches or sunlight.
Before he could figure out where the light was coming from, a horrible skeleton stepped out into view and turned its rictus grin upon them. It would’ve been even more dreadful if it weren’t … so short … and familiar.
How could a skeleton be familiar?
“Loner?” Zarian asked, the name popping into his mind with warmth.
The little skeleton nodded. It waved for them to follow with one hand before gesturing that there were other things further down the tunnel. Then Loner raised his bony fist and dropped it down violently into his other bony palm.
Apparently, there would be fighting to be done.
All of that was visible because of a strange golden light infusing with the cave’s dank air.
“Hey, are you just happy to see me, or is glowing in the dark how you impress the ladies? I don’t mind as long as you dim it so I can sleep after.” Naomi pointed a dagger at him that had suddenly appeared from the air.
Zarian looked down. He was indeed glowing brightly, especially from the chest. Loner rattled nervously from seeing that until Zarian pulled back the glow to avoid hurting the skeleton.
“Do not fret. You’re safe. You’re not unrighteous, even if you’re an unholy fiend of undeath,” Zarian said.
Loner shrugged his bony shoulders. He looked up into the air before something appeared for him to collect. He now had a spear and a helmet.
Zarian had his sword and amulet. Naomi had a dagger and amulet. Ruvaria had a wand and amulet. They were as ready as possible for whatever waited ahead.
“Let us go.”
Zarian led the way, his heart thumping with anticipation. He knew Naomi would be ready by his side. Loner would fall back and protect Ruvaria, who followed Zarian and Naomi with the utmost of trust.
As they carefully traversed the tunnel with only the glow of Zarian’s blessed magic as their light, he felt the women reach out and touch his back to reconfirm their presence. He imagined they were doing the same to each other. Their familiarity left no doubt that they’d known each other before this mishap.
Zarian became more determined to lead the way as they turned the corner and met their first encounter. Horrid rat-men.
“ARE YOU FRIEND OR FOE?!” Zarian roared, shocking the mongrels.
After a few seconds, they forgot their shock and lunged with claws covered in filthy toxins. Zarian was more than ready, swinging his sword as he shone brighter with great power.
His magic leaped forth in a golden arc that cleaved through the rat-men. They burst in bloody halves that coated the walls, the floor, and the ceiling, ending the encounter just when it started. The following silence was almost as deafening as the overt mutilation of their first enemies.
“Hey, big guy, sometimes a little foreplay isn’t a bad thing, y’know? Give a gal something to chew on,” Naomi teased.
“Mighty work, Sir Zarian. You’re, um, quite strong. It is pleasing to see.” Ruvaria sounded faint, her cheeks reddening.
“Well, er, I just want to make sure I do my best.” Zarian grimaced at the mess. “Perhaps I’ll hold back a little so we can all learn about each other’s capabilities more thoroughly.”
“You like to be thorough, huh? Aight. I’ll show y’all some of my best.”
“I don’t think I’m very impressive, but I’ll do my best for both of you!”
Loner turned towards the nearest wall and bashed his head against it. Unfortunately, he was wearing a helmet. There was no escaping these three awkward adventurers bumbling about with their new origins. Nor could he block out the sudden breeze that carried the drunk laughter of those watching from up high.
Here we go again.
