I Evolve By Collecting Infinite Spirits-Chapter 49: Zydrax & Dra’res
The door to the king’s tomb was wide open. When Sin stepped inside, he felt the cold and chilling aura in the air again.
It was just like when he entered the room for the first time. This time, however, there wasn’t a bloodthirsty ogre waiting for him.
Sin walked over to the tomb of the king, forcing it open with a push.
A gust of wind thrust forward, pushing Sin’s hair back as stale air overwhelmed the room.
"From the feeling I get when I enter this room... I know that your Spirit still remains here, Ogre King." Sin muttered, addressing the half-skeleton body of the large ogre.
Many years ago, the king’s guards were enchanted with a Spirit Energy array that made them undead.
This immortalized them from death due to natural causes, but still kept them vulnerable to death by outside forces.
They protected the king for many years, hoping to one day get revenge on the Drake species and free the Spirit of their king from this dungeon.
Sin had learned all of this through Ky’res and the other guards.
"And you... you still haven’t gotten your salvation, it seems. Maybe you wanted to see the Drake King slain by your own men... but it’s over now. Maybe your personality would have hated what I am about to do... but your nature shouldn’t mind. Join me, Ogre King."
Sin raised his hand over the large ogre skeleton’s body and activated Spirit Devourer with a simple thought.
A dark and purple energy oozed out of his palm. Soon, it formed into a circle made of Spirit Energy.
[Attempting to extract Elder Ogre King Spirit...]
’This one’s an Elder too huh? A pretty good bang for my buck.’ Sin smirked.
The circle on his hand had a magnetic force--pulling in the air all around him. Soon, the physical body of the Ogre King began to dissipate and turn into a red Spirit Energy.
This energy was sucked into Sin’s hand--a warm and powerful feeling surging through his veins and collecting in his chest.
[You have successfully devoured the Spirit of the Elder Ogre King]
Sin closed his palm into a fist, the dark purple energy erasing. He turned, walking forward a few feet.
"Come out." He said in a low tone.
Instantly, a red aura unleashed from the shadow near his feet. It flew 10 feet in front of him before stopping and materializing into a massive ogre that was over 12 feet in height.
The ogre had regained all of its flesh and skin. It looked like a normal ogre, but had a slight red aura that escaped from parts of its body here and there.
It was muscular as hell, probably close to 700 pounds of pure meat. It resembled a bodybuilder, its skin a dark green color with battle scars all around.
A scar also covered its left eye, giving it a fiercer look. It still had its golden crown and wore black iron leggings with a naked upper body.
A large, red-bead necklace swung around its neck, and its canines stuck out of its mouth like two sabertooth fangs.
With furrowed eyebrows and a stern expression, the ogre clenched its jaw and took a knee before Sin--taking off its crown for a moment and placing it on its raised knee.
"My liege... please give me a name."
Sin’s smile only grew larger.
’A talking one...’ Sin mused, thinking of a name.
"Your name from now on will be... Dra’res, following the pattern of your guards."
[Dra’res has gained his Rank: Knight]
On hearing this, Dra’res’ eyes widened.
"A grand name... I will make sure its reputation is no less than perfect, my lord."
"Good." Sin replied, "That is exactly what I expect of you."
With a thought, Dra’res disappeared into Sin’s body again.
’Also a Knight Rank huh? I guess its power is quite comparable to Zydrax’s. Maybe I’ll test their strength when I get the time.’
Sin exited the room, summoning Zydrax again and riding him out of the dungeon.
It didn’t take him long to leave the dungeon either. When he left last time, he had torn up the dungeon’s path and created a smooth exit for the second time around.
’Zydrax’s ability to move quick is great for traveling long distances, but it’s not ideal for traveling in forests or cities. This guy causes way too much destruction for that. I also don’t like him getting roughed up... I don’t need Spirit Energy to summon him, but to heal him and resummon him after he gets defeated I need a shit ton of Spirit Energy. Even small injuries on him, I need a lot of Spirit Energy to passively heal him. If he got defeated by something, I would probably need to spend multiple weeks trying to get enough Spirit Energy to revive him again...’
Due to this thought process, he definitely didn’t want Zydrax to get any injuries.
For now, he soared over the trees in the forest. The water drake could float for over two minutes, which made it seem like it could fly. But in reality, it was only using its strength to propel itself in the air.
Once already high enough, it would use its body and Spirit Energy to float for multiple seconds.
Hovering over the tops of trees, Sin arrived back at Solstar in merely a couple of hours.
The moment he got a few hundred feet away, he unsummoned Zydrax and entered the city on his own.
His clothing was dirty and covered with blood, so it wasn’t going to do.
As he blended into the heavy crowd in the main street, he grabbed a cloth that was drying over an alleyway and wrapped his head and body with it--making sure only his eyes could be seen.
First things first... he arrived back at the same clothing store as the one he had gone to before.
When he left, his appearance had changed quite a bit.
Instead of rocking the black tunic and pants, he wore a long, black coat with a dark crimson inner lining that fluttered behind him as he walked.
Underneath, he had on a fitted, sleeveless vest made of light armor plating—simple and functional.
His pants were dark and durable, tucked neatly into heavy black boots with reinforced soles. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
His Draco Gauntlets wrapped around both wrists, no ornaments, no flash--just a grounded look, which Sin preferred.
