Chapter 47: Reborn

Despite being inside the water drake’s stomach, burned to a crisp, and slashed down lethally--Sin’s heart was still beating.

Every ten seconds, his heart made a single beat.

After a minute or so, however, his heart completely stopped moving. Eventually, his brainwaves also diminished. At that moment, Sin passed away.

.

.

.

Sin’s spirit slowly left his body, escaping into the air and rising to the sky.

*Ding*

Despite being dead, Sin’s system was still alive.

*THUMP*

Sin’s heart beat once again.

Healing Bug activated, beginning to heal Sin of all his wounds.

His burns slowly dissipated, his wounds healing quickly. The stomach acid of the water drake was not fast enough to outheal Healing Bug.

Sin’s left leg’s stump also healed, covering up the wound. However, his foot did not grow back.

Finally... Sin opened his eyes. He was sunk in acid, so his eyes burned like he had poured a bag of salt inside.

However, Healing Bug made sure he took no damage.

With a push he got up to his feet and his head rose above the acid. Looking down, he noticed only now that he was still alive.

’Ah... so in the end, my Dormant Ability was successful. I thought I had no one’s Spirit in my bloodline that I could consume... but I seem to have skipped over the most obvious Spirit in my bloodline... my own Spirit.’

A smile slowly crept onto his face, his hands squeezing into tightly balled fists.

He couldn’t help but break out into a small chuckle, "I get another chance again..." He muttered under his breath, "This will be the one... the one where I win."

He grabbed the side of the beast’s slimy stomach, slowly beginning to climb up.

Eventually, he arrived at the beast’s torso after forcefully squeezing through its inner cavities.

There, he heard its beating heart through the thin wall of the stomach membrane.

With a large grin on his face, Sin stabbed his hand through the stomach and directly into the beating heart of the beast.

’I would not have been able to kill you if you hadn’t swallowed me... so thanks, lizard.’

The beast squirmed with pain, letting out a wheezing screech as it struggled for life.

In the end, it stopped moving. With its heart cut open, it quickly lost its life.

"I have two slots left, right? System... absorb the Spirit of the beast I am inside of. The Elder Water Drake."

[Attempting to extract Water Drake Spirit...]

[Criteria for Spirit Absorption]

>[The beast must be dead]

>[The beast must be subdued mentally]

[Any of these will provide a successful Spirit Absorption]

---

On seeing this, Sin smirked, ’You’re mine.’

[You have successfully devoured the Spirit of the Elder Water Drake]

At once, the drake’s physical body dissipated into energy.

Sin was left swimming in water, his eyes wide open as he saw a bright blue light in front of him. It was like a small blue sun floating in the middle of the water.

He was deep in the lake, but thankfully, he was good at holding his breath.

In front of him, the large blue light swirled around until it morphed into the shape of a water drake and swam all around him.

Finally, it turned into a full-fledged water drake that was slightly transparent but fiery with azure energy.

The drake swam below Sin, lifting him up and swimming up to the surface.

It swam with extreme urgency, using all of its strength to fly out of the water and onto land.

It landed on the ground with four smaller limbs. Gracefully, it tilted Sin onto the floor.

Sin coughed, taking in a deep breath before standing and turning to face his new Spirit.

The water drake was large--close to 20 feet in length. It was smaller than its original form, but it also looked a lot different.

It had a physical form but was surrounded by so much blue Spirit Energy that it almost looked like it was made out of it.

For a second, Sin was shellshocked. He didn’t really know how to interact with the beast.

The beast stared back at him with large, bright eyes that moved in a slow swirl motion. It was like he was staring into portals.

Sin slowly stuck his hand forward, and at that moment, the water drake came closer before bowing its head at the young man’s feet.

Sin’s eyes widened, "I see..." He understood the dynamic between him and his Spirits now.

"Can you communicate?" Sin asked, but got no reply.

The water drake only looked at him with a fierce look in its eyes.

"Do you understand me?" Sin asked another question, but got no reply again.

"If you understand what I am saying... do a back flip in the air." Sin had seen the beast do this in the water, so he knew it could do it again.

As soon as Sin gave his command, the large creature pushed itself into the air--swirling around Sin before arriving back in front of him and doing a backflip through the air.

It continued to float, staring at Sin with obedient and stern eyes.

Sin smirked, "Good..."

[You may name any Spirit devoured through Unique Trait: (Spirit Devourer)]

[Naming your Spirits will increase their bond to you in every way. It will also make them eligible to attain a Rank in your army]

[What would you like to name your new Spirit?]

---

"A name huh?" Sin had never named anything before, but it wasn’t something he would obsess over.

"How about... Zydrax."
